On My Own

(Tales of Shon Yun)
Journal Entry 1:

I'm alone. It's been 34 days since I buried Yun. I miss him already. I have no idea as to what I am going to do now. Those warriors were strong, real strong. I don't know what I'm gonna do without him. All I know is my training and how to survive. It took all I had to beat the one they called Soun. He was really strong and I know that there are stronger. In order to be the best I have train harder than I have ever trained before. The ones that sent them here are to blame and I'm gonna make'em pay for Yun. He was all I had. He was the only friend I ever had. All that I am I owe to him. But that time is past now and I have to make a new way for my self. Yun always said what doesn't kill us will make us stronger. After what I went through, I am definitely stronger. But there are many more out there like those that came here.

"It only gets tougher from here, and the tougher it gets the tougher you get."

That's what Yun always told me. I think of all the times he had me pushing boulders up hills and knocking them back down them just so I could push them back up them again. Now I realize what he was saying, "No matter how strong you get there will always be someone stronger. You should never underestimate anyone, the weakest looking person may be ten times stronger than you". I will miss him. The people that came here to our little world told us that we were the lasts of our race and Freeza would give them a bonus if they brought back the bodies of the last a Saiyajin. Who ever this Freeza is he will be sorry that he sent them to our home. This spaceship is confining but it will get me to where I need to go where that may be. The controls in this ship are easy I guess that the destination is set and all I need to do is wait for it to land where it will. Maybe I will find someone to tell me who to fly this thing. Yun said that I got to Aiya in a ship like this but he never taught me how to use it. Lucky for me all I had to do was sit in the chair and push a button for it to fly. It has been a couple of days since leaving Aiya and even though I miss it, I can't go back until I have taken revenge for my friend.

May whatever gods there are in the heavens help me to punish the one responsible for Yun's death, and may they have mercy on his soul. Because I wont.

Shon awoke finding himself still sitting in the chair of the space ship. He hoped it was all a bad dream that he would soon awake from. No such luck would come his way today. It played over again and again in his mind. It would haunt him for the rest of his days. Until Soun's master was dead Yun's spirit would not rest. So Shon decided to go after this Freeza and make him pay and the only way to get to him was to use this ship. He looked out the window and was amazed at what he saw. He had never seen anything like this before. He wanted to reach out and touch all the stars since they were right there within his grasp. After hours of looking at the stars he decided to focus his thoughts on one point and meditate. A shrill beep startled him out of his trance he looked around holding his ears wondering what that noise was and what he could do to stop it. He looked at the flashing lights on the console in front of his and started pressing buttons hoping to stop them. Finally he hit the right button and a female voice spoke "Beginning landing sequence." Finally I can get out of this ball and stretch. The landing was rough but it didn't surprise Shon. The high clouds in the sky and the warm temperature reminded him of Aiya, which in turn made him think of Yun. He stretched to the sky and inhaled the sweet air reveling in it after twenty-seven days in sitting around in a ship.

He climbed out of the crater that his ship made and brushed the dust from his clothes and looked around. It was so much like Aiya that he thought he just did circles around his planet. But something was definitely different there was something here that he hadn't felt in a month. He felt a ki. He felt several of them. He was excited to find life on this planet but he didn't know how they would react to him. "Well, there is one way to find out isn't there." He started to fly in that direction hoping that who ever he was feeling wasn't hostile. As he flew he looked at everything below him it was beautiful. The closer he got to the kis' the more excited he got. As he reached the area where they were he stopped and saw a group of people fighting. Not wanting to stop the combat, he looked on to see weather it was training of it was for real.

There were three fighters two smaller than the one. It looked like a father teaching his sons to survive. He notices something different about them. Their skin was a purple color and they had three arms. Shon watched with increasing interest noticing that the larger four easily deflected the eight smaller arms. It was definitely interesting to see. His curiosity got the better of him and he descended to the ground. As he did so, the larger one looked to him as he blocked yet another close advance from one of the small ones to be knocked nearly senseless by the other as he stumbled away still looking at Shon, the two smaller ones stopped and joined in the stare. Shon was taken aback by the sudden attention. He walked to them holding out his hand in order to greet them. As he approached something extraordinary happened. The two smaller ones suddenly became one. Shon stopped in his tracks as he saw the merger. "Wow! How did you do that?" he asked the smaller one. The smaller one stepped forward, "Who are you? What do you want here?" Both warriors stepped into a defensive stance and move apart. Shon looked quizzically at the both of them and stood in a defensive stance as well, before he could start to explain his intentions they attacked. The smaller one was more the aggressor as the larger one was following his lead. Shon had to adjust his thinking back to his last battle. This is gonna be different, but interesting. He thought with a cocky smile. The smaller came in with full force each fist striking swift and in succession of the other, the larger one did the same. Shon blocked and dodged the majority of the strikes and those he didn't defend he definitely felt. His defense got faster and better as their offense got heavier, his blocks were more focused than at the start of the onslaught. Shon looked for a lapse in their technique as they kept coming with each passing second it got harder to find one, so Shon decided to make one. He stepped back a few steps and saw his opening as he went on the attack. He caught them off guard. He moved faster than they expected and hit the smaller one square in the jaw with a left cross sending him flying then turning to the larger one upper cutting his midsection sending him to his knees. He finished his attack with a double axe blow to his a back laying him flat. As the smaller one got to Shon to attack him he was swinging at the air. He looked around to see the intruder nowhere in sight.

"Look I don't wanna fight you like this I just wanted to watch and learn."

The smaller one looked up to see Shon floating in mid air. He smiled and increased his power level more than what he had when he attacked the intruder. Then he yelled something that was very unusual to Shon, "GEM-NI-SON-KO!" the smaller warrior seemed to fade and split into two entities again. "My name is Shon Yun and I mean you no harm all I want is to.. WOAH!" He was cut short be a ki blast from one of the smaller as the other proceeded to attack him with new conviction. He knocked Shon back to the ground next to the larger being. He was not there when the smaller hit the ground leaving a crater where he landed. An explosion followed as Shon fired of several ki blasts at the smaller one on the ground and proceeded to block all four punches and both kicks of the second of the smaller ones. He flew back shooting multiple exploding ki balls at the pair thinking of a way to beat them. He cursed himself for his carelessness in not keeping aware on the larger of the two as he felt eight blows on both sides. Shon then fell to the ground leaving a crater in the ground. This is getting ridiculous. As the two warriors and their duplicated converge on the downed intruder, the ground around him stared breaking up.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Shon started to get angry. The smaller one and his duplicate stopped short as the intruder looked up with a crazed look in his eye. "Souja, wait!" the smaller one yelled. Shon attacked the larger pair with a speed that the smaller one had never seen. He took all the shots from the two larger of the warriors with no hint of faltering as he delivered his own attacks. His attacks were too much for one of the larger warriors. Each blow was stronger than the last and the larger pair had no hope of defending. Shon started shouting as he was beating Souja senseless. "All I wanted to do" right to the midsection, "was meet new people," left then another right, "and maybe learn a few things, "from you but," knee to the stomach followed by a flip kick to the head, dropping one of the larger ones "wouldn't listen to me!" The second Souja fell on top of the first "Jin!" he yelled merging together. "Now I won't listen to you!" He flew immediately at the Jin with a flurry of attacks. His attack was precise and fast. Jin was unable to defend against most of the punches and kicks that Shon was delivering. Jin's duplicate did all he could to attack the intruder but it was all for naught. His attacks were ignored by the enraged being that was pummeling his original.

Shon backed off to defend against both of them. Their attacks were not fast enough to break the iron defenses of the alien. They retreated from him shooting as they moved away from him. This alien is unstoppable, Jin thought to himself as the alien came closer to him. As he merged with his duplicate he, began to attack again. Jin waded in with a flurry of punches that would have shattered mountains but they were easily blocked and countered. Then the alien decided to end it. He blocked Jin's upper hands with both forearms. Grabbing Jin's head, he brought it to meet his forehead then brought his knee to his face knocking him senseless. He then threw him to the ground leaving a fifty-foot crater in his wake. A left to the jaw interrupted Shon's flight toward Jin. He stopped in mid air looking at someone he thought he would never see again. "This has gone far enough, Shon." Shon rubbed his eyes in disbelief as he looked at Yun. He looked as if he had never been touched except for the halo above his head. "This is not what I taught you for. I taught you for survival, this in not the way. Stop this before you get hurt." "Yun, I tried to explain, but they wouldn't listen to me." "Shon you may have did more harm than you think. There are times when it is better to walk away than fight and this may have been one of those times." Shon thought about what Yun had said. When he looked up to respond to his teacher, Yun was nowhere in sight.

I'll miss you, Yun.

He looked down at the smaller warrior lying in the middle of the crater. He powered down and landed next to him. He picked him up and laid him on level ground. He then flew to the larger one and brought him to the place where the smaller one was laying. He patiently waited for one of them to wake up. He sat there wondering what he was going to do when they woke up. I can believe I lost control like that. They probably will wake up and try to kill me. That's what I would do in their place. I have to learn to control myself. Maybe I should leave this planet and not come back. No. I'm not leaving yet. Weather they accept my apology or not it's fine with me. Just so long as I can say my peace and leave.

The one called Jin stirred. The one called Souja didn't move. Shon sat patiently waiting for one of them to wake up hoping the smaller one would wake first. A moan escaped from Jin as he moved again. Souja finally stirred as well.

"Souja, either you started hitting harder or I had a very bad dream that made me roll around on boulders," Jin said before opening his eyes. He sat up and rubbed his neck shoulder and sides with all four arms trying to rub the soreness away. We he opened his eyes he immediately flipped back and backwards and set in a defensive stance getting ready for round two. Shon sat there with several flasks of water. He looked at Jin and sighing taking a swig of the cold water that he collected from a nearby lake. He placed the flask on the ground and moved to a kneeling position facing Jin.

"If you are gonna kill me then get it over with!" Shon yelled with a sincerity that surprised the small warrior. His power started rising, building stronger as the seconds went by. Energy was visibly coursing all around his body as he stared at his victim.

Shon waited patiently, calmly for his death. He closed his eyes and put all thoughts out of his mind he became oblivious to Jin and his power. Jin's power rose higher and higher. The ground began to shake and rocks around him began floating in the air. "Before you kill me I want you to know that I'm sorry for what I did to your friend. But you wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain. So after you kill me remember that you'll never have a moment of peace knowing that you killed someone that you attacked first. All I wanted to do was learn and make a friend or two, but you wouldn't see that. So kill me already!"

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Jin charged at Shon and stopped his fist millimeters away from his face. The only thing that stirred was Shon's hair from the force of Jin's fist. Jin was motionless. His body went limp. "How did you know that I would stop?"

"I didn't." Shon stood and breathed a sigh of relief. "I was fully prepared to defend myself but I'm spent and I really don't wanna fight you again, well at least not right away anyway." Shon chuckled, as did Jin, "Agreed," he added as Shon extended his hand. "My name is Shon Yun" Jim accepted Shon's hand, "Jin."

" I'm sorry for intruding on your training but I have never seen anyone like you before and your style of fighting was so new to me that I wanted to learn, especially that multiple technique. Are you here on this planet alone? How many more times can you split yourselves? Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep up with eight hands let alone four?" Shon's questions went on for another minute. Seeing that Jin was used to questions from Souja, who was awake now and looking bewildered, stood and answered all his questions to the best of his knowledge. The questions went on from both parties and they talked for hours. Jin apologized to Shon for the attack and explained that beings like him (Saiyajin) had come here and attempted to take this planet but failed. During that time Jin had lost several of his relatives including his mother and sisters seeing Shon just caused an automatic reaction that set him off seeing a tail like that. It turned out that Jin was Souja's father and was teaching him to fight and how to defend against different techniques. Their race is called the Syll and the whole planet was not empty like Aiya. Jin had a family of twelve including his wife and Souja was the youngest of his children.

"But he's so big!" Shon said, stating the obvious. "Why aren't you that tall?" "Well that's just it, Shon, as Souja gets older he will become more powerful and his size will decrease. He won't be as small as I am but he will be stronger none the less. Our entire race is like this. When Souja reaches adulthood he will be about your height." Shon looked at Souja who was at least two heads taller than him then looked at Jin that was two heads shorter than him and shook his head, "Amazing."

Shon went on to tell of how and why he came to be here on Taus. He told of his race, which he knew very little about. His mood turned a little when he told of Yun and how he died and his promise to avenge his death by killing Freeza. " That's a big promise, Shon and I know you are up to it but you aren't strong enough for that. But with some more training you'll be able to beat him. But it is a near impossible task or so I have been told. So I guess you have come to the right place and I will train you in all that I can and help you all that I can, but I fear that what I will teach you may not be enough."

Shon stood up and looked at Jin. "That's all I can ask. Thank you," He bowed as he did to Yun.

Jin nodded and looked at Souja, "We begin tomorrow."

Over the next several months each of their power levels increased. Jin taught to Shon and showed him as much of his world as he could. The training continued. Shon taught them the defensive technique that Yun taught him the, Sho-san-xi-tsu. Jin even taught Shon the basics on astronavigation and piloting.

Shon stood facing his two Syll friends. Their mood was not that of friendship this day but that of determination and drive. They stood in a loose triangle each one looking at two opponents. Their energy building to their maximum levels as they stood sizing each other up. Both Souja and Shon have increased their power levels and their skill has improved beyond my expectations. This should definitely be a good match though Shon will probably hold back to try not to hurt Souja even though I told him not to do that. But still, this should be a good fight none the less I just hope I don't get killed in the process. I'm getting too old for this.

Souja has definitely gotten stronger in the past eight months. His level is close to mine and even though Jin is still stronger than Souja, I think he's going to let us play more, and that's just fine with me.

Shon is stronger than both of us are but not much stronger than me. I'm going all out and this time he won't get a sneak shot on me again. This will be fun. Souja smirked. Besides I have a few new tricks in my bag that I know he'll enjoy. Jin will more than likely sit this one out but that's fine with me.

Souja, Shon and Jin all set in defensive stances looking to each other. The tension was high. Each one waited for the other to strike. Each one of them knew the other's style and knew how each would open their attack. Shon usually waited until you attack and use that to his advantage. Souja attack head on fast and furiously. Jin liked to do bait his opponent in and use that to his advantage.

BOOM!

Shon attacked first, and as Jin predicted, he attacked Souja. Souja was caught off guard by his speed but quickly adjusted to the incoming volley. His defense had improved much since the first encounter. He deftly evaded Shon's first blow and deflected the second. The wily Saiyajin blocked his third and fourth hands as they countered his attack. Shon's volley was fast and furious and it gave Jin an opening to attack. He followed the series of attacks and counters with his with a series of ki blasts to see what their reaction would be. Souja was the first to react. He sped up the pace of his counterattack forcing Shon to backpedal. Sensing the incoming balls, he smiled evilly and blasted Shon with his own ki balls knocking him backwards. With Shon away form it gave him seconds to deflect numerous balls. He blocked four in front of him, deflected six in his right flank, flipping backwards to dodge the five coming in from behind. As he landed he put up a shield that blocked twelve more. Impressive as it was he left himself wide open on his left flank. As he looked to his left Jin belted him in the jaw.

Shon was caught by surprise by Souja and was impressed as he went flying back. He saw the multiple ki balls phased and recovered from Souja's blast and flew faster to get away from the energy balls but something was different about them. They were following him. As he flew he saw Souja and Jin battling. And another Jin seemingly concentrating on the balls following Shon. He Smirked and flew on. Where he flew the balls followed. He flew higher into the sky and they followed him. As he descended, he increased his speed and Jin made them increase as well. As he skimmed the ground he flew straight at Jin who was concentrating on the balls more than who they were following, which was what he was counting on.

"Gem-ni-son-ko!" Were the next words out of Shon's mouth and he split into two bodies that were flying straight at Jin. Jin was caught by surprise as was suddenly facing two Shons'. Shon phased out of sight as his duplicate waded in on Jin. He gave Jin a strong left to the jaw, which sent him flying into the arms of Shon. As his flight was ended, Shon was held his upper arms as his duplicate waded in with a series of punches that were poorly defended against. Both Shon and his duplicate said "Gotcha", as they phased out of sight leaving Jin to deal with the multiple ki balls that he sent after the Saiyajin.

Immediately Jin raised a shield in time to deflect them. That wily bastard, Jin thought to himself as he smiled. He phased just as multiple ki balls were near exploding on top of him. He reappeared in the air behind Shon. Clasping both hands together, he struck Shon across his back sending him flying towards the ground. Not seeing Shon's duplicate, he flew down towards the falling warrior. As Shon made a crater when he landed on his feet and hands, he phased in time to dodge Jin's punch, which made the crater bigger. He looked to the left to be met with a fist that sent him flying. Shon Smiled as he phased again.

Souja blocked and countered his father's attacks with precision and skill that matched his own skill and Jin was impressed. They separated and Jin phased. Souja immediately spun on his left foot and kicked Jin in the jaw then phase himself. When he reappeared he was blocked a punch that was coming from his left grabbing the hand and countered with his returning the attack with his three free hands, folding Shon over. Souja brought all four of his hands down hard chopping at the space where Shon was. Damn, he cursed Shon for his speed and was hit by several ki balls before phasing himself high into the air. He shot multiple ki balls down at the ground. Sensing a ki behind him, he split in two just and moved away from his duplicate just as the shot went right through the spot where he just moved from. He shot several ki blasts at Shon, which were dodged easily. Souja was so intent on Shon that he completely forgot about Jin and suffered as both he and his double took hard kicks to their backs sending them falling. Both recovered and phased as ki blasts were following them.

This is great! I could go on like this forever! Shon thought as he trades punches with Souja and his double. His adrenaline was pumping faster and faster as they went on and on. Both Souja's had the same smile on their faces as Shon did. Their speed escalated to a new level as their power increased as well. Shon's power had risen even more than both of his opponents had. He took more and more punches but his were harder than before. The tide began turning in his favor as his counters were becoming too fast for the twins he was fighting. Souja curse as he missed a crucial blow. He was thinking of his mistake as both he and his duplicate were falling out of control.

Both Jin's seeing this as a golden opportunity, phased in surrounding Shon and splitting again. Shon now had to defend against sixteen arms and eight legs. The onslaught was fierce and Shon could not keep up. He phased out of the fray and split so he could defend better. He thought of one of the last techniques that Yun taught him. It was a sure thing to guarantee a win. Both Shons bated the four Jin's in and then they sprung the trap.

"SHO-SAN-XI-TSU!" they both yelled. The combined ki of the both pair of Jin's knocked all six combatants to the ground. With Jin and Shon unconscious, all the duplicates merged with their originals.
All three were unconscious. Twenty minutes later, Shon woke up and looked around to see Souja sitting near them. Jin awoke holding his head.

"I'm getting to old for this" Jin commented as he sat up.
Two weeks later, Shon decided it was time to go. Jin's family was sad to see the young Saiyajin leave. Shon said good bye to all of Jin's family and tapped fists with Souja. "When I come back we will definitely have to do that again. I hope to see you soon." "And I you", Souja replied. He stepped to Jin. This was really the hardest thing for him. He lost his only friend and even though he had a means of returning, he still felt like he was losing a good friend. "This is it" Shon stated. "True, very true. Don't be strangers and our door is always open when you are near the planet. That made Shon feel really good.

"Good bye's are annoying. So, we'll just say until next time, ok?" Shon extended his hand. "Agreed" Jin replied.

Shon stepped into his ship and blasted off. "Hmmm let's see. Astronavigation is on. I guess I'll choose a new planet to go to." He punched in an inquiry to find the next life-sustaining planet. It searched and found three possible destinations. Shon looked the options and chose his destination. And waited for the ship to land again.

Journal Entry 378

The time I spent on Taus was well spent. I made some friends and Look forward to seeing them again. I am sure I will see them again and I can't wait to see Souja when I return. He was nearly as strong as I am and I know that he will be a powerful fighter and I look forward to sparring with him again. Jin will be missed also. He reminded me of Yun so much that it was scary. It made me wonder if Yun had any children and if so what happened to them. Who knows?

All I know is that when I find this Freeza He will be sorry. But for now I will travel to this small planet called Earth and see what I can learn there. I hope my first meeting with the people of that planet will not be as crazy as when I met Jin and Souja. It was fun but it was a little painful. I'm getting sleepy so I will end this entry. But I hope that I am not the last Saiyajin. I would love to learn more of my race. 1
