Name: Inez Fesnjue
A brilliant scientist and native of Mars, she was found by Akito and
Megumi in a refuge underneath the remains of the Utopia Colony. She,
along with Akito's parents, worked for Negral and actually helped use the
physics needed make some of Nadesico's handy-dandy features like its distortion
field.
Called "Miss Explaination", she had always been ready with the reasons things happen even without being asked to do so. She joins the crew as a doctor and scientific specialist, although there has been one occasion where she did not know what was going on (in the Mah-Jong memory game episode, when asked if she knew what was going on, she immediately claimed she had no idea).
She is also, especially in the beginning, a harsh person to care for. She is hard-hearted and even a little mean. Think "nasty old lady" when you think of her.
Since she first met Akito she had been intrigued by him, but whether it's romantic or scientific, I am not sure. I'm most certain it's basically scientific, at least that was until we all found out who she is to Akito.
Her past had been hazy for most of the series. When the crew first met her, she said that she was found when young in the middle of the Martian desert. She doesn't remember how she got there, but as the final episodes show, she bosom jumped not only to that desert, but to the past. She is Akito's Ai, the little girl he thought was dead already. Just as Akito jumped, Ai jumped too. Akito, of course, gets a chance to redeem himself and save Ai near the end of the series, when they all return to Mars and are ready to blow up the source of the "bosom jump" power. Ai, before reappearing in the desert, appears in that well. Ines is also down there and tries to comfort the little girl before she disappears again, all the while hoping that Akito in his Aestivalis gets down there in time to say hi to her, but he gets there two seconds too late. Before Ai disappears, Inez hands her a computer disk (I don't know what's on it, ok?).
