Words From the Ringmaster
Hello,
I am glad that you are interested by the JPOP-france Ring.
Let's go to the presentation. My name is Xavier Denis and I am the creator of the first ring about jpop and jrock music for French speakers. What a big responsibility! The weight of the world is on my shoulders...hhuummmm
So you wonder why I created this ring. Well as you can see, the Internet is get bigger and bigger everyday. Most of the sites that can be found on the web are in English, but when, like me, you have only an interest for French and Japanese related sites, it is hard to find our way through them.
I already have a site about Japanese music which I do with Mai
Tanaka. By creating our homepage (Mai's and mine), I realized that many French speakers (French, Canadian, Belgium...) are intersted by Japan, especially the music.
Nevertheless, it is hard to find pages about jpop or jrock on search engines which are translated to French languages.
After surfing for a long time (two years!?!) on the web, I had a bunch of French jpop sites on my Bookmark folder. But not a long time ago, I decided to clean this folder. Nevertheless, I still wanted to keep a link to all those great sites and I had this idea of creating a community for French fans of jpop and jrock music.
Yes, I thought that it will be good for all the French speakers who like japanese music, to belong to a community where they could meet other people with the same interest.
So I had this idea in mind, but I was not sure what to do with it.
One day, I was surfing on the web, as usual, and I saw my first ring. It is like finding the love of your life...maybe not, there is a big difference. Anyway, my head got crazy and I just knew how to get the jpop fans together in a group where they would find everything they want.
So here it is, a "ring". I just needed to find a name for it. This was my biggest problem because I did not want to use any English in the title of the ring. Nevertheless, English words had to be on it, so everyone would know that it is a ring for French speakers jpop fans.
At that point I had many choices. I could call the ring "L'anneau JPOP et JROCK pour francophones", but I was thinking that some Japanese or other people from all over the world may want to join. This tilte would have been a problem because if they do not speak French very well, they would have never known what that means.
Finally, I decided to cut of the JROCK part because it was too long, and anyway, I think that jpop can include jrock. I thought also that I should keep the word "ring" instead of the French word "anneau", so everyone will know what the site is about. At last, I thought that "France" was a good word to describe all the French speakers. I did not wanted to use the word "French" because it is an English word, and I was not sure if non-French speakers will understand "francophones".
So that was it, the "JPOP-france Ring".
Now you may ask yourself what is the meaning of this ring.
The JPOP-france Ring's goals are to link all the JPOP sites, in French language, together in the most painless way. Consequently, it is possible for people who use the web, to surf easily through all the sites dedicated to the Japanese music by going from one page to another within the ring.
Another goal of the ring is to increase the rate of the traffic through our members' sites. Instead of being spread out somewhere on the Internet where you may receive once in a while someone on your page, you will belong to a community where people will know how to find you.
One of the goal of the JPOP-france Ring is also to promote jpop and jrock. I love Japan, the culture, the tradition, and the music. On this ring people will consequently find many information and news about the japanese music thanks to our members' sites.
One more goal is to get together people who love jpop and jrock. I like to make friends and if you like Japanese music, you have a great chance to become one of mine. Some people have a site about jpop, but they are too scared that someone else will copy their ideas. Me, I do not care. You can even create your own ring about jpop for French speakers. I know what I have done, and I kind of know what I will do. I have more a creative personality, but I understand that some people do not have it and prefer copy everything they see.
To come back to my point, the ring will increase the number of visits in your site. So more people may copy what you have done. Nevertheless, I think that we all like the same interest which is jpop and jrock music, and that is the most important thing. What I want to see is more JPOP sites in french on the internet so I will always be informed about the news or the artists. Now, I do not care on the way that people get their information, even if they copied my owns.
So I guess you have an idea of what the ring represents for all of us who speak french and are tired of all those English sites.
Come on and join the ring so you will be able to inform jpop fans about their favorite artists.
Not everybody has a site or can create a good webpage. Nevertheless, if like me, you have a homepage and think that it is important to show to Internet users that French speakers care about the Japanese music, feel free to sign in.
Well I guess it is time for me to close up this page.

Do not forget that we all like jpop and jrock music, so let's make it "big" and be proud of it.

P.S. I try to not use "I" all over the JPOP-france Ring site because I think about this ring as a community not as myself.
