Are Haruka and Michiru really gay?

Yes. There are no and's, if's, or but's about it. At an anime convention attended by Takeuchi Naoko, a fan asked Takeuchi-san if they did have a homosexual relationship, and she said yes - confused by how upset the fan was.

Why are the last names of characters spelled differently from website to website?

The names of characters are spelled in Japanese kanji, so when they are written in romaji (roman alphabet) it is according to pronunciation. Haruka's name may be seen as Tenoh, Ten'ou, etc. All are correct.

Is Haruka a hermaphrodite?

Hehe...erm, no. x.x She des crossdress, but she is 100% female.

All of the characters where school uniforms. Do they all go to Catholic schools?

Hino Rei attends a Catholic school, the others do not though. All junior high schools, high schools, and private schools where uniforms.

Is Hino Rei a satanist?

No. Hino Rei is a Shinto priestess. Shinto is a religion dealing with the spirit world, and they believe everything has a kami (god). When Rei is working with fire, she is not conjuring up demons, she is fortune telling and calling the kami for help. I do recommend learning more about Shintoism. 1) It is a beautiful religion and it never hurts to learn something new, and 2) it appears in many anime and manga.
