Many people say their interest in this manga was born because of the anime, where you can admire the the "Fantastic Mage Rina"'s great and ridiculous adventures.
So, Rina Inverse and her brave comrade Gourry Gabriev {{{I'd love to see that name in Japanese...eheheh ^_^; PeZ}}} weren't originally created for the TV series but for a group of novels which have been very successful in Japan. The earnings were so big that the Copyright owners created another series of books, manga and the anime. This continuous successes are named
Slayers
(a bit cruel, isn't It?)
Rina
{{{many people write It "Lina". None of the two versions is incorrect (R,L? No difference in Japanese), but Rina is more correct! ^_^;PeZ}}} Powerful mage, valorous swordsman and... incorrigible big eater!
She often looks like a spoilt adolescent, naughty, bossy and infantile but, when it's needed, she can be a wise and forceful magician (think of the Dragon Slave), ready to risk her life for the safeness of the World.Gourry
Brave hero, fantastic swordsman... Rina would always be in trouble without him.
Unluckily, there also are some little defects, in fact he often starts difficult debates without bringing them to a reasonable conclusion. He could look like a bit ingenuous, but it's a part of his charm.
The legendary Sword of Light belongs to him and together the Rina's spells, there's no way to stop him.Ameria
{{{The same thing I said about Rina. There's no difference between Ameria and Amelia ^_^; PeZ}}} Outlandish and awkward, full of great ideals like justice and love. Her actions begin with a triumphal entry... on the other hand, she is a inexperienced mage.
Zelgadiss
He is a man that has been transformed in a semi-golem, good warrior and intelligent mage.
Charming, serious, he never is unseemly.
His mission is to find a spell to turn himself to human.
the other characters are coming...
stay and see!
