Rumble in the Bronx is the movie that launched Jackie into superstardom in the US. It was number 1 at the box office and made 30 million dollars in it's first weekend. The plot of it is pretty confusing, however, and I'll do my best to shorten it up and explain it: Jackie plays Keung, who is a Hong Kong cop, and he comes to the US for his Uncle Bill (Bill Tung)'s wedding. Bill Tung sells his market, which is in the Bronx, to a young business woman (Anita Mui). After Uncle Bill leaves Anita gets Keung to help her run the store until Uncle Bill gets back. The day Uncle Bill leaves, a gang makes trouble at the store, and Keung beats them up. The gang later pays back Keung, severly beating him. The next plot twist comes after a gang member steals a crime syndicate's diamonds. They pose as a fake FBI, and soon the FBI kidnaps Keung, his girlfriend, and the other gang members, after destroying the business woman's store. In the end, Keung rides on a hovercraft, and drives on one.
The best thing about Rumble is that it made Jackie a star here. The worst thing about Rumble is the crappy plot. It did show off Jackie's skills to Americans, but it was far from his best. Overall, I give Rumble in the Bronx an 8 out of 10.
