These are, in my opinion, Jackie Chan's 10 best movies. If you disagree with me you can e-mail me about it at Fanachan@aol.com
1. Drunken Master 2
This is my number 1 pick. It showcases Chan at his very best. He made this movie in
1994, the year he turned 40, but the way he moves it makes him look 20. His end fight
with Ken Lo is also my number 1 pick for best fight. Many, many people have this as their favorite also.
2. Police Story
This movie is Jackie Chan's first real modern day police movie. It is followed by 3
sequels and a 5th in pre-production. It has one of Chan's best stunts when he slides down a pole of Christmas lights, crashes through a wood awning,
and onto the marble tile, all in one shot. He also has the amazing chase sequence in the
beginning where he uses an umbrella to hang onto the back of a bus, get thrown off it,
and that's after the shanty town sequence where a group of cars crash through a village.
3. Project A
This is in the #3 spot because it's... just a great Chan film. It has non-stop action, and
includes the amazing clock tower stunt, which he does 3 times. A bike chase sequence is
also a highlight. Very Buster Keaton-esque, and an over-all great film.
4. Miracles
As I say in my review of this movie, it is what Chan considers his best movie as directing
goes. The sets are beautiful, and it has good multiple plot-lines. Not to mention a few
great fights, like the second fight of the film. The original movie is over
3 hours in length. Try to find at least the 2 hour version. I soon will have 4 versions of the
movie, but not the full length, letterbox, subtitled version, which hardly exists anywhere.
get your hands on this before all versions disappear.
5. Who Am I?
This is in the top ten spot because of many reasons. It's hard for me to say why I like this
movie so much. It doesn't have too many fights, but the end fight is very good and fast
paced. Yes, and the end stunt is awesome. He jumps from a 21 story building and slides
down the glass surface and stops at about the 10th floor. It has showed on HBO, and
depending on when you read this, it may still be on. If you can't find it there, it will be
coming to video stores in December, a good thing to put on your Christmas list eh?
6. Armour of God 2: Operation Condor
Operation Condor, as called in the US version, is also a great directing achievement by
Chan. The movie is absolutely hilarious at times, one part in the hotel at night. It has
some good fights too. Like the end fight in the wind-tunnel, and in the gold base.
7. Project A 2
I almost forgot about this one. This is yet another grand achievement. It has many
trademark moves, and many, many fights and chase sequences. Worth a purchase by far.
8. Drunken Master
This movie-one of Chan's first hits. It is literally non-stop fights. With 15 or more fights, it
has no dull moments. It's pretty funny, too. The training sequences seem impossible, and
to most people, they are. One scene he does upside down sit-ups, while using little
teacups to fill them with water from buckets when he comes down, and empty them in
another bucket when he pulls himself up. He does it over 10 times too. He showcases his
drunken boxing perfectly during the sequence also. The end fight is also one of his best.
9. Dragons Forever
Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, and Jackie Chan team up in the trios last film together, so far,
in Dragons Forever. The end fight with Jackie against Benny Uriquidez in a rematch is
unforgettable. Yuen Biao showcases some of his amazing acrobatics. It is cool to see all
of the Peking Opera brothers together. Also, Yuen Wah is in it also, as the gangster who
tries to interfere in the end fight, was also a Peking school brother. If you are a fan of
Jackie, Sammo, and/or Yuen Biao you should definitely find it.
10. Police Story 3: Supercop
This is another movie that barely made my top ten. It still is very good. The action is
spectacular, especially the climax. Yuen Wah, one of Jackie's old opera school friends, is
also in it as the bad guy, Panther. For more information on Police Story 3: Supercop,
