Introduction

If you want to see a review or preview of a game, you can try this site: Games Domain Review

Not that you would get games from newsgroups where you wouldn't be able to see screenshots of the game beforehand, of course. ;)

If you want to cheat at a game: Cheatit.com

Descent 1 and 2 are pretty enjoyable provided you can handle the added complexity of this game. This is because unlike related games like Quake, Doom, Duke Nukem, or Hexen, in Descent you can completely turn in four directions (up, down, left, right). Most other games only let you turn mainly left or right. However, if you learn to use my recommended setup, you should do fine. ;)

Here is my review of Descent 2:

For controls, I suggest the following:

  • For up, down, left, and right, I suggest the *keypad* (the keys at the very right of your keyboard), using 8 for up, 9 for right, 7 for left, and 2 for down.
  • For strafing/sliding up, down, left, and right, I suggest the keypad, using 5 for up, 4 for left, 6 for right, and 0 for down.
  • For moving forward, I suggest Z, and for moving backward, I suggest SHIFT
  • For primary fire, I suggest CTRL, and for secondary fire, I suggest the *keypad* ENTER (using your right pinky)
  • For afterburner, I suggest a
  • For rotating left, I suggest Q, for rotating right, I suggest E, and for center, I suggest W.

What's nice about Descent is that people are always making new levels. In fact, Parallax (the company that makes Descent) has released 10 free levels to add on to Descent 2:
