Usagi’s voice: Mamoru-san and Seiya-chan are taking
Chiyoko and me for a double date! I’ll always remember it for the rest of my
whole life. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Chiyoko’s teaching
Usagi how to do some math problems in the classroom. The four inners are moving
left and right in front of the two girls with blushed funny faces. Finally,
Chiyoko can’t take it any more and she looks up at the four
girls.
Chiyoko: What are you
doing?
Rei (with a smiling
curious face): Do you guys have
anything to do this Saturday?
Chiyoko (raising her
eyebrows): You mean
tomorrow?
Four inners
(laughing): Ha…Yes! Ha…Yes!
Ha…
Now Usagi, who just
“woke up” from the math problems, finally notices her strange acting
friends.
Usagi: What’s wrong with you
guys?
Makoto: Well um, are you going out with
Mamoru-san and Seiya-kun tomorrow?
Chiyoko (smiling): Why are you asking? Do you want to take
us out tomorrow?
Four inners (surprised
shouting): You don’t
know?
Usagi and Chiyoko
(confused): Know
what?
Rei (to Chiyoko): I’m not surprised that Usagi doesn’t
know, but I’m surprised that you don’t know. Chiyoko-chan, tomorrow is February
14th!
Chiyoko (blushed): Oh, I just didn’t realize tomorrow is
it.
Usagi (still
confusing): Know
what?
Four inners (shouting
together): Tomorrow is Valentine’s
Day! You stupid!

Late at night, Usagi
and Chiyoko are playing video games in their pajamas in the living room. Seiya
and Mamoru are sitting on a sofa near them in their casual
wears.
Mamoru (to the
girls): You’d better go to
sleep.
Usagi: We’re in the middle of a
game.
Chiyoko: If you guys are tired, you may go to bed
first. Don’t need to wait for us.
Seiya and Mamoru
exchange glances.
Seiya: Odango, why don’t you go to
bed?
Usagi: Would you just stop it? We’ll go to
sleep after we finished the game. Oh by the way, Chiyoko, may I sleep in your
room tonight?
Chiyoko: You’ve got something to talk with
me?
Usagi (nodding): Um!
Chiyoko: Ok, let’s finish this part and go to my
room.
Mamoru and Seiya become
very nervous now.
Mamoru: You should go to bed early. Don’t talk
so late at night.
Chiyoko: Mamoru-chan, we do this very frequently.
I didn’t hear you said anything before. Why do you act so strange
tonight?
Mamoru’s mouth is
shut.
Seiya: Odango, Chiyoko, we should go to bed
early. It’s good for our health.
Usagi: You act very strange too, Seiya-chan.
You sound like my mom tonight.
Chiyoko: What’s wrong with you
guys?
Mamoru and Seiya
(shaking heads and hands): Nothing!
Nothing!
Chiyoko: If you guys have the time to ask us to
go to bed, why don’t you take a shower first? Like you said, it’s late
now.
Then Usagi and Chiyoko
continue on their game. After Seiya and Mamoru left the room, Usagi and Chiyoko
exchange glances and laugh. Few minutes later, Usagi and Chiyoko turn off the
game and stand up. Seiya and Mamoru are back in their
pajamas.
Usagi and Chiyoko
(smiling): Good night,
guys!
Seiya and Mamoru
(smiling): Good
night.
Usagi and Chiyoko go
into Chiyoko’s room. Seiya and Mamoru quickly begin their urgent
discussion.
Mamoru: What shall we do? If they don’t sleep
tonight, they won’t be able to go out with us tomorrow.
Seiya: Honestly, I wonder why they don’t know
about tomorrow. Odango may don’t know about that but I can’t believe that
Chiyoko doesn’t know either.
Mamoru: She may know February 14th is
Valentine’s Day, but she may not notice tomorrow is the day. Besides, she’s not
the kind of girl that remembers every special day like Valentine, Christmas, her
birthday, etc. by heart and asks you for gifts. Anyway, let’s get back to the
question here. What shall we do?
Seiya: Do you know how to make people
sleepy?
Mamoru: Um… yes! She has baywreath in the
kitchen.
Seiya (confused): Baywreath?
Mamoru: We can make some baywreath tea for them.
Baywreath tea can make people sleepy. Some people drink them if they can’t sleep
and don’t want to take sleeping pills.
Seiya: Will there be any side
effects?
Mamoru: Of course not! Baywreath is simply
plant.
Seiya (nods): Ok, let’s go.
They rush to the
kitchen. Meanwhile, Usagi and Chiyoko are laughing in Chiyoko’s
room.
Chiyoko: I told you it’s going to work. Was it
fun?
Usagi (excitedly): Yeah!
Chiyoko: Don’t let the boys do the job all the
time. We, the girls, should give them some “surprises” sometimes. Don’t you
think?
Usagi: I totally agree with you. So, what’s
next?
Chiyoko: They won’t give up easily. They’ll have
next step. Let’s wait and see.
There’s a knock on the
door. Chiyoko gives Usagi a blink.
Chiyoko: Come in!
Mamoru and Seiya walk
in the room.
Mamoru: We bring you some tea in case you’re
thirsty. You’re NOT really going to talk overnight, are
you?
Chiyoko: Of course not. We’ll talk until we feel
sleepy, so we don’t know exactly when we’re going to
sleep.
Mamoru: Oh…
Seiya: Don’ talk so late. Good
night.
Then Seiya pulls Mamoru
out of the room.
Seiya: Are you sure the tea will
work?
Mamoru: I’m not absolutely sure. I just wanted
to give it a try.
Seiya: Let’s wait and see if they’re really
asleep.
In the room, Usagi
picks up the cup to drink the tea but Chiyoko stops her.
Chiyoko: I knew it. This is baywreath tea. People
will fall asleep if they drink it.
Usagi (looking at her
cup nervously): Fall to sleep? Are
they some kind of poison?
Chiyoko removes her
hand and giggles.
Chiyoko: Of course not! Do you think they’ll give
us poison to drink? Baywreath’s a kind of plant. Baywreath tea’s harmless at
all. Actually, they’re some kind of Chinese medicine. Well, you don’t need to
know that. Anyway, you may have it. Believe me it’s harmless. It’s good for us
actually. It makes us relax and sleep easily.
They drink the tea,
turn off the light, and go to sleep.
Mamoru: Are they asleep?
Seiya: Yes, let’s get some sleep as
well.
Meanwhile, Nicole is
walking in an aisle alone. She’s thinking to herself.
Nicole: Where’s he exactly? I miss him. I miss
him very much.
Nicole walks out to her
garden and looks around. She then stands in front of a forget-me-not and turns
it into a pretty girl, who has black long hair and blue eyes, is wearing purple
bikini and short boots with yellow ribbons around her
body.
Nicole: Forget-Me-Not, you know what I want. Go
and get them for me.
Forget-Me-Not: Yes, your highness. You’ll see them very
soon.
Nicole: I hope you’ll keep your
promise.
[CM
Break]
Chiyoko wakes up and
notices that there’s a bunch of pink roses in front of her. She counts them and
finds out there’re 101. She smiles and looks over to Usagi’s bed. Usagi has a
bunch of lavender roses on her. Chiyoko goes to Usagi’s bed and counts the
roses. It’s the same amount. She then wakes Usagi up.
Chiyoko (smiling): Usagi, see? Seiya gave you 101 lavender
roses!
Usagi (excitedly): And Mamoru-san gave you pink roses!
(Pouting,) hey! Why didn’t Seiya-chan buy me red roses? I thought you said red
roses mean love.
Chiyoko
(sweat-dropped): How could you say
that? Lavender roses are much more unique than red roses so they’re much more
expensive, especially with such large bouquet on Valentine’s Day. And he
couldn’t buy lavender roses everywhere since they’re so unique. Seiya possibly
ordered them from a foreign country. About the meaning thing, lavender rose
means “love at first sight”. Isn’t it romantic? He did so much for you and
you’re not satisfied? (Sighs.) I really feel pity for my
brother.
Usagi is blushed and
has tears in her eyes. She holds the roses gently and kisses them. Chiyoko
caresses Usagi’s head and gives her a comforting smile. Usagi smiles
back.
Usagi: Then what is the meaning of pink
roses?
Chiyoko: Basically, all kinds of roses mean love,
or something related to love. Pink roses are for Leo girls. They mean perfect
happiness, please believe me, etc. Ok, enough lessons, we should go downstairs
and give the boys their presents.
Usagi (nods smilingly
with tears and touched in her eyes):
Um!
Few minutes later,
Usagi and Chiyoko find themselves holding the roses and the boys’ presents, and
standing in front of the dining table with wide eyes. Seiya and Mamoru are
smiling and hugging the girls from their back.
Mamoru: We made the food all by ourselves so
you’re going to eat them all.
The two girls have
tears in their eyes. Their loves pat their shoulders to comfort
them.
Chiyoko (controlled
herself): I’m ok. I’m just too
happy. (Hugs Mamoru and kisses him.) Thank you very much, for everything,
Mamoru-chan.
Mamoru (smiling): You’re welcome.
Usagi can’t stop
sobbing and Seiya doesn’t know what to do. He looks at Chiyoko and Mamoru
helplessly. Chiyoko holds Usagi and pats her to comfort
her.
Chiyoko: She’s just too happy. That’s all. Don’t
worry about it, Seiya. By the way, where did you order the roses for
Usagi?
Usagi wipes her tears
away quickly and looks up at Seiya.
Seiya: I ordered the roses from Europe few
months ago. Why are you asking?
Usagi bursts into
blubbering again, and louder this time. Seiya is shocked and doesn’t know where
to put his hands at all. He looks at Chiyoko again.
Chiyoko: Usagi, you’re making Seiya very
uncomfortable now. Please stop crying and have breakfast. They spent so much
time. We’re not going to waste it, right?
Usagi nods and stops
crying. Seiya exhales with relief. Mamoru and Chiyoko look at them smilingly.
The girls then hand the boys the knitwear they made. Mamoru kisses Chiyoko
immediately and thanks her. But Seiya looks at the knitwear
strangely.
Seiya: Odango, are you sure that you made it
all by yourself?
Usagi
(embarrassed): Actually, Chiyoko
did some of the work. But I did learn how to knit from her and I did most of the
work.
Seiya kisses Usagi and
thanks her. Then the two couples have breakfast happily.
Chiyoko: Where are you going to take us to for
today?
Mamoru: We’re going to take you to the new park
“Dreamland”.
Usagi (excitedly): “Dreamland”? The one like
“Disneyland”?
Mamoru (nods
smilingly):
Yes.
Chiyoko: But how can Seiya go there? He’ll be
recognized easily.
Seiya: Don’t worry. I can put on sunglasses and
nobody’s going to recognize me.
Chiyoko: Are you sure?
Seiya: I tried that many
times.
After they finished
their breakfast, they drive to the park. After they parked the cars in the
parking lot, they play around: roller coaster, water bicycle, and so on.
Finally, they stop in front of the “Ghost House”. Usagi and Chiyoko are
resisting going in with fearful faces. Seiya and Mamoru have sweat-drops and try
to pull them.
Usagi: Chiyoko, I didn’t know you’re afraid of
ghost.
Chiyoko: Just because I’m good at science
subjects doesn’t mean I’m not afraid of ghost. It’s the most fearful thing for
me. It gives me nightmares.
Usagi (nods
continually): Yeah, me too, me
too.
Mamoru: Don’t be silly. They’re not
real.
Seiya: And we’ll go with you. We’ll hold you
till it’s finished. It’s really interesting.
Usagi: I thought you were afraid of ghost too,
Seiya-chan.
Seiya
(embarrassed): Of course
not!
The two boys keep
pulling the two girls into the ghost house. Usagi and Chiyoko, half-willing,
half-unwilling, finally follow the boys into the ghost house. It’s very dark
inside and they hear screams around the ghost house. Since there’s no time limit
in the ghost house, the two boys decide to walk around slowly to watch
everything. Although the two girls refuse to, the boys don’t listen to them. The
two girls close their eyes at the beginning. Later on, since their lovers are
beside them and they become curious about it, they open their eyes and look
around.
Chiyoko: It’s…(swallows)…it’s not as horrible as
I thought.
Usagi: Yeah.
Seiya and Mamoru
exchange glances and scream suddenly. Usagi and Chiyoko are shocked and then
they scream too. Chiyoko quickly holds Mamoru’s arm and Usagi falls on the
floor. When the girls hear the boys’ laugh, they become very
angry.
The two girls (patting
their lovers):
Mamoru-chan/Seiya-chan, how could you?
They cry and shout
angrily at their lovers, who run away to escape. The two girls follow them. But
when they pass a corner, they can’t see the two boys.
Usagi (looking
around): Where are
they?
Chiyoko: Shh…! (Whispering,) they’re possibly
hiding somewhere to scare us. Hey, I have an idea. Follow
me.
Usagi follows Chiyoko
to another route.
Chiyoko (making an evil
face): Let’s find another route to
get out of here before them. Let them search the whole ghost house to find us,
as a punishment for them.
Usagi (nods with an
evil face):
Um!
They walk and walk but
they can’t see a visitor at all. They become scared.
Usagi: Chiyoko, are you sure this is the right
way?
Chiyoko: I think so. There’s the exit sign! I
believe we’re on the right way.
Usagi: Then how come there’s no one around? I’m
really scared.
Chiyoko: I’m scared too. Hey, you’re the elder
one here. How could you be more scared than me?
Usagi: Hey! This has nothing to do with
age!
Suddenly they hear
screams from another side.
Usagi: There’s someone over there. Let’s go to
ask them where’s the exit.
Chiyoko (pointing at
the exit sign):
But…
Usagi pulls Chiyoko
away before she can say a word. When they get there, they find out that
Forget-Me-Not is standing in front of a bunch of Hope and Love
Crystals.
Chiyoko
(whispering): Usagi, let’s go back
and transform.
Usagi nods and follows
her. Meanwhile, Forget-Me-Not is very disappointed.
Forget-Me-Not: None of them is the right one. Luckily I
chose this place so those sailor soldiers wouldn’t recognize the screams. I can
wait until the next visitors.
Moon: I don’t think so.
Forget-Me-Not (turning
around):
What?
Moon: For love and hope…
Protector: the sailor-suited pretty
soldiers…
Moon: Sailor Cosmos
Moon!
Protector: Sailor Cosmos
Protector!
Together: In the name of the universe, we’ll
punish you!
Forget-Me-Not puts up
her hands and let the ribbons around her body go to the girls without saying a
word.
Fighter: Love Crystal Divine
Light!
Forget-Me-Not’s attack
is blocked out and she’s injured. Fighter and Kamen arrive in time and hug their
lovers.
Fighter and Kamen: Sorry, we’re late.
Moon and Protector
(smiling): Never
mind.
Forget-Me-Not gets
up.
Kamen: Finish it!
Protector: Hope Crystal Divine
Light!
Fighter: Love Crystal Divine
Light!
Moon: Hope Crystal Eternal
Light!
Forget-Me-Not returns
to a flower and then vanishes. The two couples transform back to normal and
leave the ghost house. The boys apologize to the girls for scaring them and
almost got the girls killed because they didn’t stand by the girls all the
way.
Chiyoko (smiling): It’s ok. After all, we’re ok
now.
Usagi (smiling): Yeah, and we’ve had an unforgettable
Valentine’s Day, right?
Seiya and Mamoru
(smile):
Right.
Seiya and Mamoru hug
their beloved ones tight.
Seiya and Mamoru: Happy Valentine’s Day,
Odango/Chiyoko.
Moon and Chiyoko: Happy Valentine’s Day to you too,
Seiya-chan/Mamoru-chan.
The two couples kiss in
front of the sunset. It’s romantic and beautiful!
Forget-Me-Not has the
meanings like true love, memories, and don’t forget.
“A date in a ghost
house? Only you can think of a Valentine’s Day like this!” This was my friend’s
opinion. What do you think? I know it’s out of the season again. But hey! If you
think this episode is good, interesting, and romantic, then please forgive that
little matter, ok? If you don’t…well, get over it! HA! HA! Oh and also, if you
think a sensible girl like Chiyoko won’t be afraid of ghost, I’d like to tell
you that I’m like Chiyoko and I’m afraid of ghost.
Now I’d like to dissect
the two couples by something that you may know but may not notice. I hope you
all know that Usagi’s full name, Tsukino Usagi, means "rabbit on the moon". I’d
like to add that "tsuki" means "moon", and "rabbit on the moon" is from a
Chinese legend – yes, it’s a Chinese myth. Seiya, "sei" means "star". The
Japanese character "no" in "Tsukino" is exactly the same as the "ya" in "Seiya".
In Greek myth, each night Selene admired the sleeping Endymion, just as the moon
looks down on the sleeping earth. In China, star and moon together is a image of
no separation, and is very popular among Chinese poets. Like I put in episode
206, "I wish you were the moon and I were a star, so that we could shine
together forever." That’s from a Chinese poem. Besides, have you guys ever
noticed that the songs that Usagi (Mitsuishi Kotono) sang, including the Moon’s prologue, have never
specifically said that Usagi’s in love with whom? In Usagi’s profile, in the
corner of her dream, it stated that her dream is to get married but hasn’t
specifically stated to whom. And last but not least, girls of Cancer are well
known that would fall in love VERY easily with childish boys instead of mature
ones, because Cancer girls are maternal, which also explains why Usagi’s so full
of love to her people, especially her loved ones.
Now let’s talk about
Mamoru and Chiyoko. I know very little about Japanese so it was hard for me to
pick meaningful Japanese names. I picked "Chiyoko", "Yuko", "Keiko", and "Akiko"
for the "ko"s, which mean child like Minako’s. And if I’m not mistaken, "chiyo"
means thousands generations/dynasties (please correct me if I’m wrong). Although
I don’t know much about Japanese names, I can use my understanding of English.
"Chiba Mamoru" means "protector of the earth", which I’d like to add "Mamoru"
means "protector". Got it? I told you from the beginning Mamoru and Chiyoko
would be a pair – I hope you still remember Chiyoko is Sailor (Cosmos)
Protector. About "Niiyama," Niiyama Chiyoko’s last name, well, I picked that as
a memory of Seiya/Fighter’s seiyuu, Miss Niiyama Shiho, who passed away on
February 7, 2000. “Shiho had been hospitalized in
July 1998 for acute leukemia and had returned for a bone marrow transplant. Her
symptoms persisted for an hour, but she was suffering from pneumonia due to a
drop in blood pressure caused by internal hemorrhaging. Having failed to respond
to medication, she went to her eternal rest at 6:23 AM, February 7,” (from the
translation of the original notice released by Aoni
Productions, Niiyama-sempai's employer).
