A Happy Day At The Zoo, We
Should Love Every Creature!
Usagi’s Voice: Every creature in the universe is equal. We have no right to destroy any of it. On the other hand, we have to keep the circle of life balanced: animals and men eat plants and animals, animals and men die to create the food that plants need. To do both, we shouldn’t kill any unnecessary being and shouldn’t waste any food.
Chiyoko’s Voice (teasingly): That’s just your excuse for eating so much!
Usagi’s Voice: Hey! …
The teacher of Usagi, Chiyoko, and Graces holds up a poster in the classroom.
Teacher: There’s a paint/sketch from life competition in the Juuban Zoo this Sunday, held by the Art Gallery downtown. Everyone is welcome to join. You’ll get a souvenir when you hand in your work. You don’t need to sign up. You may just show up there. You have to bring your own papers and equipments though. You’re only allowed to draw animals from the zoo. Any people can join the competition so you may invite your friends to join too. Any questions? No? Ok, let’s begin our class then…
[Title Screen]
Chiyoko is carrying her panel, painting brushes, and different colors of paint, papers, and drawing pens in the living room alone.
Chiyoko: Hurry up, Usagi! We’re going to be late! Mamoru-chan and Seiya aren’t driving us there today so we have to take the bus, you know.
Usagi (running down the stairs): OK. OK. I’m coming. I’m coming. Let’s see. I think I’ve got everything. Yeah. Let’s go.
They leave their home and soon they reach the bus station. Graces are already there. They smile to each other and say hello.
Usagi: Oh, I forgot to bring papers! Let’s go back!
Usagi turns around but Yuko and Chiyoko pull her back.
Yuko: Don’t bother, Usagi-chan. I’ve got many different colors of papers here. You can pick whatever you want.
Chiyoko: I’ve got plenty too. You don’t have to go back. Look! The bus is coming!
They get up the bus and take their seats.
Usagi: Woo, I’m so excited.
Chiyoko: Keiko-chan, Akiko-chan, I thought you didn’t like painting.
Keiko: I thought it’s worth a shot. My main goal to go there is to visit the zoo.
Akiko: And my main goal to go there is to protect you…
Everyone covers Akiko’s mouth to stop her. Then they laugh and keep talking. Soon they reach the zoo and they get off the bus.
Usagi (looking around): Where’s everyone?
Chiyoko: Maybe they aren’t here yet.
Usagi: Maybe we’re too late. Let’s go and see where they are.
Usagi pulls Chiyoko away but then Chiyoko pulls her back.
Chiyoko: Usagi, we’re not late. You wouldn’t be late with me. We’re early actually, so we have to wait here for them.
Soon, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako show up. Luna is on Ami’s shoulder and Artemis is on Minako’s shoulder. Nine girls move to stand in front of a board of the map and guide of the zoo.
Usagi (excitedly): What are you guys going to draw?
Chiyoko: I don’t know. I haven’t made up my mind yet. There’re too many choices.
Yuko: Why don’t we go around together before we make our choice?
The other girls think that’s a great idea so they leave together. Meanwhile, Three Lights are arguing at the other side of the zoo.
Seiya (clutching Yaten’s collar and shouting angrily): What? Say that again!
Yaten (shouting angrily): What? You think you’re the most superior one between the three of us? I think not! You’re just as stupid as you look. No! Even more stupid!
Seiya can’t take it anymore so he punches Yaten. Yaten falls on the floor with blood coming out from his mouth. Seiya wants to punch him again but Taiki pulls him back.
Taiki (shouting): That’s enough! That’s enough! Seiya, clam down! He’s our brother after all. Yaten, back off! And apologizes to Seiya!
Yaten (shouting): Never!
Seiya (struggling and shouting angrily): Let me go, Taiki!
Taiki: Seiya, why don’t you be the bigger person here?
Seiya struggles out of Taiki’s hold. He looks at Yaten angrily but doesn’t hurt him.
Seiya: I’m telling you. From now on, you’re not my brother anymore, ever!
Then Seiya leaves angrily. Taiki and Yaten look at the direction he left bewilderedly.
Director (shouting): Cut! Good take! It’s stifling here! Let’s take a rest!
Three Lights exhale and leave the site.
Yaten: I don’t understand why we signed the contract for joining this movie.
Taiki: It has a good screenplay.
Seiya (mockingly): And it gives me a chance to punch you.
Yaten (mockingly): Because you can’t beat me in real life.
Seiya: Oh yeah? Let’s try, huh?
Taiki: Ok now, stop acting like two children.
Yaten: He started it!
Seiya: Did not!
Yaten: Did too!
They keep arguing until someone jumps on Seiya’s back and kisses him on his cheek.
Usagi (smiling): Seiya-chan!
Seiya (smiling): Odango. Why aren’t you drawing your little picture, huh?
Seiya pulls Usagi to the front and kisses her passionately. Luckily, there’re no other people around, except their friends, who know their relationship.
Yaten (frowning): Seiya, get a hold of yourself!
Usagi is blushed and she pushes Seiya away gently.
Usagi: How’s your movie going?
Seiya: Pretty good. It’s right on progress so the director gave us a break.
Taiki: Actually, the director gave us a break because it’s stifling today, and he didn’t want to make us tired. He didn’t want to offend us.
Ami: Possibly it’s going to rain tonight.
Yuko (nods): Um, looks like it’s going to rain like dogs and cats later.
Usagi: Oh, really? I didn’t bring my umbrella. What should I do?
Seiya: You don’t have to worry about it. I’ll drive you home anyway.
Usagi: You brought your car? Then how come you couldn’t drive me here this morning? I thought you couldn’t drive your car today.
Chiyoko (surprised): Haven’t you heard? Their director asked them to go to the studio early this morning to meet the others first before they came here together.
Usagi: See? Here’s another thing. He always tells you things more than he tells me.
Seiya (frowning): What are you saying? I told you at the dinner last night, even Mamoru-san knew about it. You didn’t pay attention to me, did you?
Usagi (embarrassedly): Oh, I’m sorry. The food last night was too delicious so I…
Everyone else has sweat-drops. Yaten even bursts into laughter and can’t stop. Usagi is even more embarrassed. Chiyoko saves her by changing the subject.
Chiyoko: Seiya didn’t tell us much about your new movie. What’s it about?
Yaten: Why don’t you see it for yourself?
Minako: Come on. At least tell us a little something.
Taiki: Well, it’s a movie about courage, manhood and brotherhood. We’re playing brothers who have conflict and argue all the time, but deep down, we love each other.
Usagi: So basically, you’re playing yourselves, except the brother part, right?
Taiki (nods smilingly): Basically, yes.
Seiya and Yaten (together): I don’t think so.
Everyone laughs. Meanwhile, Princess Nicole is walking around in her garden. She’s searching for a suitable flower to send to Earth of course. But she’s also thinking something else in her mind.
Nicole: I can’t help but keep thinking about him. We’re so close but I don’t know where to find him.
Finally, Nicole makes up her mind in front of the dahlias. She holds her scepter near them and one of them changes into a pretty girl, who has red long wavy hair and eyes, and is wearing white bikini and short boots with yellow ribbons around her.
Nicole: Dahlia, go to Earth now and get the prince and princess back to me.
Dahlia (bowing to Nicole): Yes, your highness.
[CM Break]
Seiya and Usagi are having lunch in the restaurant of the zoo with their friends.
Ami: The seafood is delicious. Why didn’t you order it as well, Yuko-chan?
Keiko (eating her food, saying mockingly): It’s because she is allergic to seafood.
Yuko (outfaces at Keiko): I’m not allergic to seafood. I just don’t eat it.
Ami: Why don’t you, Yuko-chan?
Yuko: I love the nature, especially the sea, so I don’t like to eat seafood.
Female Voice (shows up suddenly): That’s nonsense!
Everyone looks up and sees a pretty girl standing besides their table. She has blue eyes with light blue long hair, and she is wearing a light blue short causal dress.
Usagi: Hey! How could you say that? That’s not nonsense. That’s…that’s…lovely.
Everyone has sweat-drops.
Ami: Usagi-chan, I believe you use the wrong word. You should say kindhearted, tenderhearted, or softhearted.
Everyone has sweat-drops again, but Ami doesn’t know why they do.
Usagi: Only you will correct my use of vocabulary every time, Ami-chan.
Ami is embarrassed.
Chiyoko (to the girl): Who are you?
Girl: My name’s Kawashima Aya. I’m a big fan of the Three Lights. I saw them having lunch with you guys from another table, so I came here to check you out and ask for autograph.
Usagi: I don’t think what my friend thinks about has anything to do with you, right?
Aya: I simply talked to myself. I just think that’s the circle of life. You aren’t supposed to change that. And you can’t change that. Don’t be so irrational.
Ami: Being rational isn’t always a good thing.
Aya: At least I won’t say or do something stupid.
Taiki: Being irrational is a bad thing, but being too rational is definitely not a good thing. However, that’s not the point here. The point is, like Usagi-san said, we don’t have the right to tell Yuko-san what she should do, as long as it won’t hurt anyone.
Everyone nods. Ami looks at Taiki smilingly. Aya frowns.
Aya: I’m disappointed in you, Taiki-san. I thought you were better than that.
Taiki: I’m happy to disappoint you.
Aya frowns again and leaves without saying a word.
Chiyoko (smiling): Well, let’s finish our lunch and get on to our work.
Usagi: But then when and where we’re going to meet?
Seiya: Let’s meet at the exit, where you’re going to hand in your work, at five o’clock. What do you think?
All (nods): Um!
They leave the restaurant. Three Lights go back to work. The girls continue their drawings. When Yuko gets to the aquarium, She sees Aya is standing there.
Yuko: Aya-san, you’re going to draw the aquarium as well?
Aya (shakes her head): No, I drew the lion and handed the work already. These tiny little creatures can’t catch my attention at all.
Yuko: Although I believe what you think have nothing to do with me, I still think you should pay some respect to every creature, no matter how tiny it is. Well, it’s my opinion anyway. You don’t have to listen to me.
Yuko sits down and starts her work immediately after she said that. Aya looks at her strangely. Yuko concentrates her work. Her painting is coming out quickly. It’s very beautiful. Aya first looks at her work disdainfully. But later Aya admires her work.
Aya: You have quite a knack for this. May I know your name?
Yuko (smiling and puts her hand): My name is Sakamoto Yuko.
Aya (shaking hands): You’ve already known my name, right? Nice to meet you.
Yuko (releasing hands): Likewise.
Aya: Your drawing has something that mine don’t. I don’t know what it is. That “something” makes your drawing is better than mine. May I have a look?
Yuko hands Aya her finished work. Aya looks at the painting for few seconds and then she frowns because she’s confused, and she shakes her head.
Aya: I can’t tell. Can you tell?
Yuko: It’s love.
Aya (confused): Love?
Yuko: I’m not simply good at drawing. It’s like I have a connection with the things I draw. I’m particularly good at drawing the nature, probably because I love the nature.
Aya (still confused): How does love have anything to do with drawing?
Chiyoko: When you’re doing something, if you put your heart in it, if you fall in love with it, the work will be way better than it should be. Trust me it will.
Aya is still looking at Yuko confusedly. But her frowning eyebrows are released. It seems she starts to understand.
Aya: I’ll think about it and tries to put my heart into my drawing next time.
Aya then leaves. Yuko sees Chiyoko and Usagi after Aya left. Yuko stands up immediately but Chiyoko pushes her down and sits down besides her with Usagi. Usagi, Chiyoko, and Yuko discuss their drawings.
Usagi (depressed): Your drawings are really good. I don’t even want to hand my drawing in. It’s too bad.
Chiyoko: I think you have improved in drawing skills. You should hand it in.
Usagi (smiling): You really think so? What about Yuko-chan?
Yuko: I haven’t seen your previous drawings so I don’t know if you have improvement or not. But the duck is really looking good.
Chiyoko bursts into laughter, Usagi is embarrassed, and Yuko is confused.
Aya (distant screaming): Who are you? What are you doing? Help!
Usagi (picking out her transformation pin): Chiyoko! Yuko-chan!
Chiyoko and Yuko (picking out theirs and nod): Um!
Usagi: Moon Universal Crystal Power, make up!
Chiyoko: Protector Universal Crystal Power, make up!
Yuko: Aglaia Graceful Power, make up!
Dahlia’s just got out Aya and some other people’s Crystals.
Dahlia: None?! That’s strange. Let me check on the other people’s Crystals.
Moon: You’re not going to do that! For hope and love of the universe, the sailor-suited pretty soldiers Sailor Cosmos Moon!
Protector: Sailor Cosmos Protector!
Aglaia: And, bring the world glory and peace. Sailor Aglaia!
There together: In the name of love and justice, we will punish you!
Dahlia: Lucky me. Now I can get the Crystals.
Aglaia: We’ll see about that. Glorious Lighting!
Dahlia releases her ribbons to block Aglaia’s attack.
Moon: Hope Crystal Eternal Light!
Protector: Hope Crystal Divine Light!
Moon and Protector finish her off. Later, all the girls line up to hand in their works. Chiyoko drew a deer, Ami drew a giraffe, Rei drew a horse, Makoto drew a camel, Minako drew mandarin ducks, Keiko drew a sheep, Akiko drew an eagle, and Yuko drew the aquarium as you know. Everyone lauds about Usagi’s duck but Usagi is getting angrier and angrier and Chiyoko controls herself from laughing very difficultly. Shortly, Three Lights show up.
Seiya (trying to get the drawing): Odango, let me take a look at your drawing.
Usagi (hiding her drawing behind her): No!
Seiya (still trying to get it): Come on. Let me take a look.
Chiyoko (impliedly): Usagi-chan, why don’t you give Seiya to take a look?
Usagi looks at Chiyoko then turns to Seiya, and then she gives Seiya her drawing. Taiki and Yaten look at the drawing with Seiya.
Seiya: Um, your drawing is improving. That’s good.
Usagi (thinking): Say that and I’ll kill you!
Seiya (smiling): The swan is just like you, so pure.
Others except Chiyoko: What?! That’s a swan?
Usagi jumps to hug Seiya and gives him a big kiss.
Usagi (to other girls): A duck! A duck! I’m drawing a swan!
Rei: Your drawing looks like a duck. How should we know it’s a swan?
Usagi: How about Seiya-chan and Chiyoko? They recognize what I’m drawing.
Seiya: Don’t get me wrong. I think it looks like a duck. But I know you too well. I guessed you would draw swan, rabbit, or something like that: pure, innocent, lovely, and white. That’s why I guessed it’s a swan instead of a duck.
Chiyoko (smiling): And I knew it all along what you would be thinking.
Usagi is not very happy to hear that but she has to admit her drawing isn’t very good. The others make fun of her. Later, the judges put the drawings of Chiyoko, Yuko, Aya, and some other people to the final. The results will be giving out to the schools later.
Aya (to Chiyoko and Yuko): Congratulations.
Chiyoko and Yuko (smiling): Same to you.
Aya: I’m lucky to get into the final with you guys. Yours are really better than mine. Yuko-chan, I’ll try to improve my drawing. And next time, I’ll be ahead of you.
Yuko (smiling): I’m looking forward for it.
Dahlia:
meanings – dignity and elegance
colors – white, pink, yellow, lavender, red, etc.
As you can see, I’m talking about Yuko. But inside, I’m implying Taiki, especially his changes. Have you noticed it? Although Chiyoko is “the princess” and she’s so mature, Yuko makes decisions all the time. Chiyoko would give suggestions to people and try to solve their problems on their own. But when it comes to make a decision for the group, especially when it’s about the battle, Yuko becomes the one with plans. Of course, Yuko is a leader after all, right? I also showed a lot of Seiya and Usagi’s relationship in this episode, and it’ll keep it that way. No matter what the episode is about mainly, there’s at least some point about them. Some episodes are even just for them. After all, this is a story about/for them.
I’m sorry about the delay of this episode. My parents came to visit me in Canada from my hometown Hong Kong. I spent all the time with them and didn’t write my story. To apologize, I put up two episodes this weekend, 219 and 220. Hope you like them, and please forgive me, and most importantly, keep on reading my story. Please…
