The ARMD class armoured space platform was the main fighting force of the UN spacy fleet at the very beginning of Space War 1. Alongside the Oberth class missile destroyers they formed the entirety of the UN spacy Earth defense force. They were considered heavily armed and armoured at those times, but proved totally ineffective against the first Zentraedi onslaught. Most were massacred before firing a shot at the enemy. They were totally of Earth design and fitted with weapon technology from Earth. Their main armament are missile launchers, laser cannons, and a compliment of drone fighters. The one useful feature in their design is their ability to link with the SDF-1 and serve as arm units to boost the fighting capabilities of the mighty fortress.
