"Finally!" said the cat. "I was wondering when you're going to figure it out!"
"But...but how..." stuttered Darren, who was in shock.
"Oh, I'm a magic cat," replied the puss. "I'm Katrina. Everyone calls me Kat."
"Nice to meet you, Kat," said the surprised human. "I'm Darren!"
"Hi, Darren!" greeted Kat. Darren couldn't help but notice something about her voice. Kat's voice seems so familiar, he thought. Where have I heard it before? Kat's miaowing distracted him, though.
"Follow me, Darren," said Kat. "I've got something to show you." Darren nodded and walked behind as Kat led him to a fountain up ahead. Inside the fountain's clear waters were fishes of every variety. There were even a few turtles and tortoises.
"This is The Fountain Of Mystique," said Kat. "It's what made me a cat in the first place."
"How?" asked Darren.
"Well, a few years ago I was running around the garden when I saw this fountain. I wanted to get a handful of water to wash myself but unfortunately I fell into the fountain instead. The Fountain Of Mystique is magic, and since my nickname is Kat, I got changed into, well, a cat." explained Kat, sighing.
"Can't you change back?" asked Darren, feeling concerned.
"Well, I could..." answered Kat. "The problem is, I don't know how. I heard that it had something to do with love, though I'm not too sure what it means!"
"Well, I hope you change back soon...I'll like to see you in human form!" said Darren, which made Kat laugh.
"I wish so too..."
