"Katrina...Katrina, you're no longer a cat! You're human!" said Darren in amazement. Katrina looked around and found, to her delight, that she was indeed back to human form.
"I guess I am!" said Katrina, with joy in her voice. "But I wonder how..."
"It's just like that fairy-tale The Frog Prince! The frog turns back into a prince after a kiss from the person who loves him, which happened to be his princess who was once his girlfriend!" answered Darren in a jiffy. Suddenly he remembered something...the reason for all that deja vu...

"Oh my goodness..." said Darren, shocked. "It's you...you were that girl I dreamt of 6 years ago...the one I wrote I Want You for...the one I had a crush on...no wonder I fell in love with you, even when you were a cat...oh my, I can't believe this..." Darren couldn't go on and started to cry.
"Oh don't cry, Darren," said Katrina comfortingly. "I knew it all along!"
"You did?" asked Darren.
"Yes, dear," answered Katrina. "This is the Garden Of Mystical Dreaming. When people dream, they would dream of this place in all its different forms - castles, gardens, towns, et cetra. Coincidentally we were dreaming at the same time 6 years ago, like you just said, and we met at this dream garden. After you left - which would mean after you woke up - I still slept and walked around the garden when I found the fountain. In The Garden Of Mystical Dreaming, whoever falls into the fountain will stay in the garden and not wake up until someone special comes to rescue them. During those 6 years, all I could think of was you. I found a magic necklace which enabled me to control a person's sleep and dream patterns so that I could bring that person here. So I managed to control you and bring you here, by getting your friend Daniel to give you a goodnight kiss right after you helped him clean the apartment, when you collapsed onto the bed."

"GOODNIGHT KISS??? From DANIEL???" asked Darren. "How did that happen?"

"Well, I knew that unless someone gives you a goodnight kiss, it'll take you a while to get to sleep, even if you're feeling terribly sleepy. Seeing no one else in the apartment except Daniel, I had to make you make him give you a kiss on the cheek so that you would sleep sooner. You can ask Daniel all about it once we get back. Anyway, I managed to get you here and well, you know what happened...I purposely asked you questions as if I didn't know you so that you won't suspect anything...I guess it worked..." answered Katrina.

"Katrina...oh Katrina, I missed you..." said Darren tearfully as he held her inside his arms. "You won't believe how many journalists ask me whether I have found my dream girl I sang about in I Want You...all that time I said 'No' but now I think I can finally say 'Yes'...Katrina, I still love you..."
"Darren...I love you too...after all these years..." replied Katrina. Their eyes clicked for a moment, their lips met and soon they found themselves kissing each other as gently but tenderly as possible, with all the passion and lust they had inside of themselves since that fateful day 6 years ago. Just like that dream 6 years ago, thought Darren.

Time flies, and soon it was time for Darren and Katrina to return back to Earth. Katrina untied a necklace which was around her neck and gave it to Darren.
"Remember me with this necklace," said Katrina. "Our paths will cross again soon, my dear, but for now we must part. I'll send you off first, then I'll follow."
"Okay, Katrina," replied Darren. "Hope to see you soon..."
"Bye, Darren baby..." said Katrina as she prepared to send Darren back. "Give Daniel a kiss for me, okay? And good luck on your Savage Garden tour!" Darren nodded and closed his eyes as Katrina tearfully let him go. Soon...

"Oy, baby Darren, wake up...it's dinner time already!" shouted Daniel into Darren's ear as he shook him awake.
"Okay, okay, no need to shout already," answered Darren. "And what's the big idea calling me 'baby Darren'?"
"Well, you were the one acting like a baby, wanting a goodnight kiss," replied Daniel. "Really, I think you hit the bed too hard!" Darren wondered what on Earth Daniel was talking about when he remembered what Katrina told him earlier. He looked into his hands and saw a necklace - the very same one Katrina gave him a moment earlier. He smiled, wore the necklace and walked up to Daniel, kissing him on his cheek.

"HEY!" yelled Daniel, trying to wipe his cheek clean. "What was that for?"
"I just met Katrina and she told me to give you a kiss, so I did!" answered Darren, smiling.
"Isn't Katrina the girl you kept dreaming about since we first met? About 6 years ago?" asked Daniel. Darren nodded. "Well, both of you are equally crazy...you know, I wonder how you could have met Katrina...for one thing, she's just a figment of your imagination!" Darren ignored Daniel and went to get the paper, which had Katrina's face on the front cover. Below it was this article:

RECOVERY : BRISBANE GIRL WAKES UP AFTER 6-YEAR COMA

BRISBANE, 17th May - Something special has just happened in the small town of Logan : Katrina Hamlin, a 24-year-old patient of St. Marys Hospital has just awakened from her coma lasting approximately 6 years. Katrina fell into a coma in 1993 after experiencing drowning-like symptoms in her sleep. Significant difference to her appearance during the course of 6 years include unexplainable growth of whiskers around the mouth area and extra-long fingernails. When she awoke, Katrina was heard to have said, "Darren Hayes, Darren Hayes" probably referring to Savage Garden lead singer Darren Hayes who also hails from Logan, Brisbane. She was also heard to have let out a few miaows, not unlike those of a cat. Upon further questioning, Katrina mentioned a particualr Garden Of Mystical Dreaming, which scientists are speculating to be a version of Heaven some people with 'near-death' experiences seem to see. She is currently in fine health and will be discharged from St Marys tomorrow.

Darren read the article with a smile on his face. Only one thing was going through his mind...

"Katrina, welcome back..."

THE END!
