"Good morning everyone! This is Hackles of Premiere FM 96.7 and today we will have a VERY special show for you!"
Almost all of Australia were tuned in to Premiere FM's morning show, deemed one of the best radio shows in Australia's music and entertainment industry. Hackles always had interesting surprises for his listeners every day, and today was not to be left out.
"Today I have brought in a special guest on Premiere FM...everyone, meet Amila, my baby cousin!" announced Hackles as the show started. "She just celebrated her first birthday recently, and guess what? She has said her first words!"
"The problem is that none of us can decipher what on Earth little Amila is talking about," continued Hackles. "So today I'm going to let Amila take over the mike for a moment so that you can listen to what her first words were. After that I'll open the lines, so if you think you know what Amila's first words actually were, feel free to call in!" He then placed Amila closer to the mike and let her speak.
"Swavage Gwaden! Dawen! Dwaniel! Bwisbane!"
Darren Stanley Hayes was bewildered at what baby Amila was talking about. The 15-year-old boy from Brisbane loved Hackles' morning show but today he was just confused. Why on Earth would Hackles want to bring in his cousin to the show, and what was she saying?
"Some show," muttered Darren as he kicked the hi-fi, accidently recording the baby's words onto his tape. Darren did not realise this until much later, and was slightly disappointed that some of his Michael Jackson songs were replaced by some baby coos.
"Ah well, it's only a recording," said Darren to myself. "I have his album...no harm done..."
"Good morning! Premiere FM, who's this?" Hackles has just received his first caller - the caller ID revealed a number from Brisbane.
"Hi! I'm Daniel Jones, I'm 14 years old and I'm from Brisbane!" replied the excited caller. He has just figured out what the baby was saying, and was hoping it was true.
"So Daniel, what do you think Amila is saying?" asked Hackles.
"Well, I know that it might sound more than a little crazy but I believe that the words Amila were saying are 'Savage Garden', 'Darren', 'Daniel' and 'Brisbane'! No clue on what she's humming though!" said Daniel, slightly out of breath.
"Hmm...interesting...hey, wait a minute, aren't you Daniel from Brisbane?" asked Hackles.
"Yep, why?" replied Daniel.
"Well, part of Amila's speech did include 'Daniel' and 'Brisbane' - maybe she was talking about you!" answered Hackles, to the amazement of all the listeners.
"Hey, that'll be cool...but who's Darren and what's Savage Garden?" asked Daniel, laughingly. "Well, we might never find out till later!" Daniel
left the station, and both Darren & Daniel were left thinking about what Hackles had just said.
"Hmm...my name and state is in there," thought the two boys. "All I have to do is find the other boy, figure out what Savage Garden is and what song Amila's singing..."
Little did they know what impact Amila's words had on the fate of the boys.
