~*~HARRY POTTER AND THE SAVAGE GARDEN CONCERT~*~ ~*~Chapter Two~*~
Days pass, and soon it was a day to go before July 30th. Harry hasn't asked his uncle for permission to attend the concert, and it didn't help that Dudley was always going on about how Korn was the best and Savage Garden, well, weren't good in his opinion. Harry did manage to listen to Hermione's copy of the album - he nicked one of Dudley's old Walkmans, which was still in fine condition - and listening to it had just made Harry want to see the concert even more.
Harry had contacted Hermione a week ago, with a different plan. He figured that Uncle Vernon would most likely ask him where he got the tickets from, and he thought that Hermione should call up and explain it to him. She did have enough sense not to yell, not like Ron did a few years ago. Now he was sitting next to the phone, waiting for Hermione's call...any second now...
"TTTRRRIIINNNGGG!!!"
Harry excitedly put the phone to speakerphone mode - the Dursleys had just updated their phone - so that the Dursleys could hear.
"Hello, can I speak to Harry Potter please?" asked the voice on the speaker. It was Hermione - but in a strangely different voice. Harry tried to stifle a laugh as he replied.
"Yes, speaking."
"Well, I'm from the Music Association of Britain, and I'm calling in regards to the Concert Contest which you entered earlier in the year."
"Why, what about it?"
"Well...congratulations Mr. Potter, you have just won for yourself a ticket to see Savage Garden live at Wembley Stadium tomorrow night!"
Harry did a fake scream - so loud that the entire Dursley family came running in.
"What's wrong with you?" asked Uncle Vernon.
"I won! I won!"
"Won what? And who's that on the phone anyway?"
"Erm...someone from the Music Association of Britain, they said I won a contest for tomorrow night's concert."
Dudley was incredulous.
"What contest?" he asked.
"Well, at the station there was this stall which had contest forms, so I decided to try my luck," replied Harry. He had practised this answer in his head ever since god-knows-when. "I guess they didn't publicize this much, coz otherwise you would've have entered."
"What concert is this anyway?" asked Uncle Vernon.
"Savage Garden's," replied Hermione, who was still on the phone. "This is the residence of Harry Potter, Privet Drive, right?"
"Yeah..." replied Uncle Vernon, a touch of skepticism in his voice. "But how do I know there is such a concert?"
"Look in today's paper," said Hermione. "There's an ad for it in the entertainment section." Dudley reached for the paper, turned into the entertainment section and sure enough, there was a full-page ad for the Savage Garden concert.
"Are they any good?" asked Uncle Vernon to Dudley.
"Not really," said Dudley, ignoring Harry's flaming eyes. "Korn is better...they rock man!" Harry hated Korn - mainly because of Dudley - and hoped, however slightly, that Uncle Vernon won't stop him from going just because Dudley didn't like them.
"I didn't think Harry had much taste," mumbled Uncle Vernon. Luckily for him Hermione didn't hear him. "How many tickets did he win?"
"One," replied Hermione. "There are two other winners - Herioni Janger and erm...Donald Weatherby." Harry smiled as he heard the names. Hermione must be trying hard not to reveal her or Ron's identity. She was so good at it that Harry half-believed that he had won a contest.
"And how are you going to take this Harry here?"
"By limosine. We'll be picking up Potter at 5 p.m. tomorrow. Janger and Weatherby will be joining him. So can he go?"
Uncle Vernon thought for a while. He hated making Harry happy, but the absence of Harry would make HIM happy. And if what Dudley said was true, then he'll be happy that Harry might suffer. After much delibration...
"Okay, okay, he can go...but make sure there's no funny business."
"Funny business? Oh no, sir. Thank you!"
Harry was elated. He can go! He knew that Uncle Vernon thought this concert might torture him, coz Dudley apparently thinks they're no good. They don't know what they're missing, thought Harry. How can they say SG's no good? They rule! As soon as the Dursleys were gone, Harry whispered into the speaker.
"Hermione?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks man. You rock. So does Savage Garden."
"Always glad to help."
"See you tomorrow night! Oh and Hermione?"
"Yeah?"
"Since when do you have a limo?"
"Oh, you'll see..."
