Savage Garden was getting really famous. Their CDs and cassettes sold by the millions. Concert seats were sold out. Your aunt Leonie was really impressed with them that she quit being their publicist and became their personal assistant. In all Savage Garden had a good life.
Then I came in.
"Okay, that's a wrap! Good work!" Walter Afanasieff was proud of his boys' work. He was producing Savage Garden's second album, and the duo had just recorded one of the last few songs for it. Darren and Daniel were pleased - their hard work had really paid off. They couldn't wait for it to hit the stores - more concerts, more meet-the-fans, more stuff they loved doing.
"You sounded terrific, guys!" praised Leonie when they emerged from the recording studio. "I'm sure the sales would rocket high into the charts!"
"Well, we can't be sure till it's out," replied Darren. He just couldn't wait for that to happen. "Another few songs - then we're done."
"Hey Darren, at least YOU get to do all the fun stuff - what with that 'fantasy' shoot Smash Hits want to do with you," said Daniel, tuning his guitar. "As for me - I'm stuck here rehearsing the backup band!"
"Hey, you can always join me if you want to," said Darren. "Besides you were always the quiet one!"
"I know - but I am joining you for that photo shoot," replied Daniel. "Don't go fulfilling all your fantasies without me!" Daniel laughed and ducked when Darren pretended to throw a pillow at him.
"Don't get ideas into people's heads - you know how the papparazzi's imagination is," said Darren. "Someday those reporters are going to place digitally-altered photos of us at the altar saying we're getting married - to each other!"
"Actually that IS one of the situations in the photo shoot," said Leonie, to the shock of the duo. "My idea!" This time it was Leonie's turn to duck as Darren and Daniel threw pillows at her.
"Hey, it was only a joke - you guys aren't getting married!" said Leonie. Just then a lady, about Leonie's height, walked into the studio.
"Guys, I want you to meet someone - this is my sister Chardina," introduced Leonie. Chardina shook hands with the guys and was brought around the studio by her sister. Daniel just couldn't take his eyes off her.
"Oh man, she's beautiful!" admired Daniel, a dreamy look over his eyes. "That is one girl I'd like to see on the altar with me..."
"Daniel, wake up!" said Darren, shaking his best friend. "You haven't really MET her - how would you know her personality? She might be a bully under her shell!"
"How can she?" asked Daniel. "She looks so angelic! Truly someone made in heaven...sigh..."
"Hey Daniel, if you like her so much, why don't you ask her out?" suggested Darren. To his disbelief Daniel agreed. Daniel made his way towards Chardina and asked her out for a date.
"Why, I'd love to!" replied Chardina. Daniel's heart was now beating with joy. Chardina was close to being the girl of his dreams - indeed it was. Daniel was all smiles that day, and couldn't wait until tomorrow evening, when he and Chardina would have dinner together.
Since that day me and your father were in love. We were both happy at first, but soon our romance got into the way of Savage Garden...
