"MYSTERY MURDERER KILLS 14," said Daniel as he read out the day's headlines. "NO SUSPECTS FOUND. Gee, this killer is REALLY mysterious!"
"And to think that all the murders were nearby," shuddered Leonie. "We have to keep our guard up, guys...what with you guys being celebrities!"
"I guess we need more bodyguards," said Darren. "Or maybe we should get out less..." Just then the phone rang.
"I'll get it!" said Darren as he ran towards the phone. "Hello...yes, this is Darren Hayes speaking...yes...what? Me? Why? Oh, okay...when? Okay...thank you...goodbye..."
"What happened?" asked Leonie. "You don't sound too happy..."
"That's the police," replied Darren. "They found an eyewitness to the mass murders...and they want me to go for identification."
"YOU?" asked Leonie and Daniel in shock. "But why?"
"I somewhat matched the description of the eyewitness," explained Darren. "I just have to be there so that the eyewitness can be sure."
"When are you going?" asked Daniel.
"Very soon," said Darren. "A police car will come and pick me up...probably with handcuffs..."
"Goodness, you're not even confirmed to be the criminal and already you're treated as one!" exclaimed Leonie. "But can we come along?"
"What for?" asked a confused Darren.
"Moral support," replied Leonie. "Besides we know you didn't kill anyone...we'll be there to defend you..."
"Thanks guys," said Darren. Just then someone came knocking on the door.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," said Darren and was greeted by a pair of police officers. He was handcuffed and was slowly brought down to the police car downstairs, accompanied by Leonie and Daniel.
"Now don't worry Darren, you'll be all right," comforted Leonie, as Darren was almost in tears. "This is only an identification...you're not even convicted yet!"
"Yeah, I'm sure you won't be the one," continued Daniel.
"I know," said Darren, who couldn't stop crying. "But will anyone actually believe me?"
"Ah, don't worry," said one of the police officers, who couldn't help but overhear their conversation. "If you're so sure you're not the murderer, the eyewitness won't identify you."
"I hope that happens," sighed Darren, and as his tears were wiped away with the help of his best friend, Daniel, all three of them waited patiently for their arrival at the police station.
"Darren Hayes, please take position number 3," said the police officer on duty. He walked towards his position, together with a few other suspects. Daniel and Leonie were watching from afar, praying to God that Darren won't be convicted.
"All right, miss, who do you think is the murderer?" asked the police officer to the eyewitness, who had just arrived.
"Hmm...I think it's number 3!" said the eyewitness. Darren was trembling as he advanced forward. Then he, Daniel and Leonie had the shock of their life.
