Once upon a time, in a place far, far away, there lived a king and a queen. They have been married for five years, but still have no child of their own. They tried EVERYTHING there was, but all the methods, from witchcraft to herbal therapy never worked. They were as sad as anyone could be.
One fateful night, the king noticed that his wife wasn't feeling very well. He was worried. Was his wife ill with a terrible sickness? The king wasted no time and called the town's best doctor. The doctor arrived promptly and checked every aspect of the queen's self. After thirty minutes, the king asked the doctor just what was the problem. The doctor looked at him and smiled.
"Congratulations, you're going to be a father. She's three months pregnant..."
The king couldn't believe his ears. They were expecting a baby? "YAHOO!" exclaimed the king as he jumped up and down like a little kid. The butlers and chefs and maids just laughed at his reaction. After the jumping died down, everyone - including the doctor - held a celebratory feast.
Six months and ten days later, on the twenty-fourth of September, the queen gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. The king and queen decided to name her Princess Elizabeth Katherine - or Liz for short. She grew up to be a very lovely, friendly and smart girl and was the pride and joy of the whole kingdom, especially her parents. Everyone loved her dearly.
Her two friends, Princess Kathy and Princess Tiara, lived in a palace not far away from hers. They contacted each other through letters, phone-calls and meetings at the town park. They had a fun time chatting to each other and spent a lot of time together by shopping, going to movies, going to concerts, or just walking around.
One day, as all three of them - Liz, Kathy and Tiara - walked around the park, Liz noticed a shadow in the distance. She followed the shadow and found a tall, handsome stranger standing next to his horse, apparently waiting for someone. The stranger, though, didn't see her. He just stood there, not noticing Liz's gaze. After a while, Liz saw the stranger's friends arriving. She signalled to her friends to 'come hither'. Kathy and Tiara went towards Liz and saw what Liz was seeing. They overheard the strangers' conversation.
"It's about time you came! I was waiting a long time for both of you!"
"Well, SORRY but there was some 'traffic-jam' and we got stuck in it!"
"Not those dreaded 'jams' again! Well, are you two ready?"
"Ready? For what, Dan?"
"Geez, didn't you get my message yesterday?"
"The one about the three princesses? What was their names again..."
"It's Liz, Kathy and Tiara, Ben!"
"That's it! Thanks Daz! Well, Dan, why didn't you say so? Let's get going!"
All three of them were surprised. They were talking about THEM? Liz, Kathy and Tiara rushed back to their usual spot next to the pond and talked.
"Liz, did you hear what they just said?"
"Yeah...they were saying something about us, isn't it?"
"Yep! Just what do they want from us?"
"Well, let's hope it's nothing bad..."
"Don't say things like that, Kathy! It'll only be worse!"
"Oh Liz! But what do we do now?"
"Well, I don't know...it's only four o'clock and we're not supposed to be back until seven..."
"So?"
"So I think we should just stay here until dinner-time...and hope nothing's gone wrong..."
"Yeah.....hope nothing's gone wrong..."
Liz, Kathy and Tiara sat there for a long time, thinking about the conversation they just heard. Was it them they wanted to see? Why would they want to see them? Did they do something wrong? Questions buzzed in their mind, but were interrupted by noises nearby.
"WHAT was that?" asked Kathy suddenly. All three of them turned around and saw some people approaching them. They were petrified. Were they being kidnapped? Who were they anyway? After a while, they saw three people approaching them.
"Excuse us for scaring you girls...are you Princess Elizabeth, Princess Kathy and Princess Tiara?" asked one of them. They nodded in agreement.
"Finally! We went to visit one of your mothers and she told us that you girls would be here. Well, according to the photos she gave us, you must be who we were looking for.......oh, how rude of me! I'm Prince Daniel, and these two are my friends Prince Darren and Prince Ben. We are from a place not very far away from here. Nice to meet you!" continued Prince Daniel. All three princes bowed down and kissed the princesses' hands. Liz, Kathy and Tiara just smiled. So THEY were the ones they overheard a while ago! They don't look so bad... thought Liz as Daniel sat beside her. In fact...sigh...they look so handsome...
The three princesses had conversations with the princes. Kathy and Ben talked about music, Liz and Daniel chatted about movies and Tiara and Darren discussed their favourite thing - vampires. They chatted for hours and hours. Time seem to stand still as the six people talked and talked - and got to know each other better in the process.
Seven o'clock arrived and the girls had to go. They exchanged goodbyes and promised to meet again the day after tomorrow. The princes went back to their own kingdom while the princesses went to Liz's house for dinner. They found out from Liz's mother that the king of the princes' homeland was actually a friend of Liz's father, who was king of the princesses' homeland. They also found out that the princes have met their parents last month and have expressed deep interest in the girls. To tell the truth, the girls seem to be interested in the princes as well.
Day after day the princesses and princes met. It now became apparent just who was matched up with whom - Liz with Daniel, Kathy with Ben and Tiara with Darren. All of them seem happy together. Indeed, some people believe, they were made for each other.
Almost a year later, on a sunny afternoon, the three princes rode to the princesses' homes. They were carrying a bouquet of flowers each and was holding a small box in their hands. They made their way to the palaces and asked for permission to see the princesses. When they were allowed entry, they met the princesses, got down on their knees and at precisely 12:15 in the afternoon, asked the princesses a very important question.
"Will you marry me and be my wife?"
All three girls cried, even though they weren't near each other. They didn't know what to say. After a while, they nodded in agreement. After that, both the prince and princess went to obtain blessings from their parents and the overjoyed parents blessed them with eternal happiness and good luck. They got married at Liz's palace about a month later.
An hour after the wedding, the three princes went up to their brides, bringing along a guitar, a xylophone and three rose stalks. They arranged themselves and after that, Darren began to speak.
"Excuse us ladies and gentlemen. Tonight we would like to present a song that we have written and composed ourselves. This song is dedicated to our lovely ladies, namely Liz, Kathy and Tiara. We hope you enjoy this performance." Then before they started, each prince gave his bride a rose each. Then, as Daniel played the xylophone and Ben strummed the guitar, Darren began to sing.
