TWO BEDS AND A COFFEE MACHINE ============================= Mel, unknown suracem@hotmail.com There is a mother, with three kids, a girl, a boy and a baby girl. The scene begins with the mother in her bedroom, having one last look before she closes the door. In the bedroom, her husband is on the bed and the light is off, the only light is the one coming from the street lamp outside. These rays strike the bedroom floorboards as they beam through the window. She exits the room and closes the door. She grabs her suitcase, which she had already packed and walks down the dark hallway. She has bruises on her face, and rips in her clothes. She walks into the kitchen looking for her kids, only to find them all hiding under the kitchen table. Chairs surround them so that they could not be easily seen. They feel that these chairs are their only protection to the fighting that had been going on. The eldest child, the daughter, is cradling the baby as if it were her own. They all had been crying from all the screaming and hitting that had been going on all night. The mother kneels down to them, assuring them that everything will be alright. She tells them that they must go pack their bags, as they will be leaving. The children rush off to gather all their things. The mother goes into the bathroom and starts to wash off all the blood on her body. She changes her clothes and she tries to hide her bruises with make-up. She then collects all the things that are valuable to her, such as photos of the kids, drawings and toys to take on their journey. She also picks up the furniture from the floor and cleans up anything that has been broken. She packs the bags in the car, and walks back into the house. As she waits for her kids, she looks at a photo of her husband and herself one last time.  She begins to cry, thinking to herself what had gone wrong? What had happened to the man she married and where did he go? The children enter the room waiting for their mother to notice them. She turns around and reaches for their hands. Her daughter is still holding the baby, because she is scared if she lets go the baby will be taken away from the family. They all start to walk to the door. When they approach the door, the mother turns around and has one last glance, looking at everything she is about to give up. She knows she can never return. Next scene, the mother is driving in the car, with all three kids in the back. The baby is asleep on one side, and the other two kids are asleep, with the daughter resting her head on her brother's shoulders, with his arm around her. It is raining and so it is beginning to get too hard to see. The car is fogging up and the windscreen wipers are too slow. The mother pulls over at the next hotel they come across. She checks into the hotel, and is told there is only one more room left, so she takes it. This room has only two single beds and a bathroom. She carries each child, one by one, and places them on the beds. She walks over to the window and sits on a chair, watching the rain. She starts to think about what had happened that night. The next scenes are flashbacks of that night. Her husband is yelling at her, and then hits her. She is crying and screaming back at him. While she is thinking these thoughts, she hears her daughter crying, so she goes over to her. She kneels on the floor and slowly strokes her daughter's hair, telling her everything will be all right. Slowly, her daughter falls asleep and she still continues to stroke her hair, thinking to herself that they have to go as far away as possible, as she has committed a crime that no judge will understand. She had gone through so much for so many years. She did not want her kids to grow up with that kind of influence. She did it all for her kids, and was willing to do anything for them. Her priority was to protect them. They are her little angels. Next scene, daylight has arrived. The mother is lying asleep on the bed next to her daughter, and suddenly awakens. She wakes the kids and tells them that they must continue to move on. They head for the car, and set off once again. Their destination is anywhere but home. The mother pulls up at the railway station. She takes the bags out of the boot, and both her son and daughter take a bag to carry. The mother picks her baby from the back seat, and closes all the doors. Then they all start to walk to the station. They approach the counter and the mother buys 4 one-way tickets. She then tells her kids that they must all wait outside so that they can see when the train arrives. They sit on the bench and wait patiently for the train to arrive. The mother has her car keys still in her hands and decides to place them on the ledge of the window that she is sitting in front of. She wants to leave everything behind, and so she abandons her car. The train arrives at the platform and they all start to board. The son finds a 4-booth cabin so that they can all sit together. Just as the song ends, the mother has one last look through the window of the train, and then she removes her wedding ring, and throws it out of the window. As the ring is falling, it is falling in a slow motion and in the background the train takes off. THE END
