Gohan is the son of Goku and made his debut when Radditz, Goku's older brother, came to Earth. After his father died fighting Raditz, Piccolo took Gohan to a place to train him. At first Gohan didn't want to get trained, but eventually did. When the two Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta, came to Earth for the Dragonballs, we see the outcome of Piccolo's training Gohan. Now Gohan was a real crybaby in the begining because first of all, he didn't like fighting in the first place. 
Anyway, when Piccolo was killed by Nappa, he showed bravery and courage by standing up to Nappa and fighting him until Goku came back. Just when things got to the point where there was no hope, Goku came to save the day.*sniff* Well anyway, you might be wondering who in hell is Videl. She is Mr. Sataan's daughter.
