Piccolo

Piccolo is the son of Piccolo Daimou and was a sworn enemy of Goku. When Radditz arrived on Earth, Goku and Piccolo were forced to join sides to even have a chance against Radditz. On top of having another enemy, Radditz also kidnapped Gohan. Since Radditz was way too strong, they were just being tossed around like a bunch of dolls. To see Goku getting hurt, this enourmous hidden power that was lying dormant in Gohan exploded in his anger. He then broke out of the Saiyan space pod and head-butted Radditz in the chest, weakening him greatly. He was weak enough so Goku held him to buy some time for Piccolo to gather some energy to do his Beam Canon, also known as the Makkenkosappo which means Screw Attack from the Devil in English. Since there wasn't enough time for Goku to dodge that attack, they both were taken out. As Radditz was dying, Piccolo revealed the secret of the Dragonballs to Radditz. The information was transmitted by his scouter to Nappa and Vegeta causing them to come. Piccolo took Gohan to train him and they developed a caring for each other. That was the begining for their friendship
Gohan has always loved him as a second father. Piccolo becomes one of the strongest characters and follows them in all of their adventures

Buruma

Bulma was born to the wealthy inventor of the capsule, a device that allows you to carry anything, including cars and houses, in small capsules. She grew up with the love of inventing just like her father, and is very good with machinery. Bulma was the first to discover the legend of the Dragon Balls after discovering one herself. She was also the first to invent a device that could track the Dragon Balls, and used it to find the others.
While searching for the 4-starred Dragon Ball, Bulma ran into Goku . Litteraly; she hit him with her car. It turned out that Goku had the Dragon Ball she was searching for, and wouldn't give it up because his grandfather gave it to him. So, Bulma made a deal with him that would make Goku her bodyguard so he would bring the Dragon Ball along while she searched for the others.
She doesn't play much important role in the rest of the series. Buruma is just there. Later on she gets married with Vegeta and has two kids, Trunks and Bra.

Chi Chi

Chi Chi was the daughter of Ox King (aka Gyuamou) and lived on Mt. Frypan.
When she met Goku, she got a crush on him and made him promise to marry her when they got older.
She went in on the 23 Tenkaichi Budokai as "Anonymous" and when she she fought Goku, she had a shit fit because he didn't remember who she was. Chi Chi eventually and easily got Goku to marry her.
Then they have a kid whom they named Gohan. Since being bitchy is her way of talking to people, she makes Gohan study like crazy. At the age of 4, he already knew how to do square roots and all that. She strongly disapproved of fighting and forbidded Goku to train him. There was an episode in the series right before Gohan felt Freeza's ki where Chi Chi hired this tutor for him. He turned out to be a real asshole and even had a little whip with him to beat up on Gohan. Hitting him with the whip was one thing Chi Chi could have lived with, but when the tutor dude bad mouthed Goku, he crossed the line. She went crazy and threw him out of the house. Literally and right through Gohan's bedroom window. He started screaming out profanity about their family so she chased him until he left. Chi Chi wasn't that crazy over Goten studying.

Kuririn

Kuririn is Goku's long-time best friend. He is really a monk, that's why he's bald. He also requested to be trained by Kamesennin along with Goku so he could be strong to get some girls.
He followed along with the Saiyans and fought along side them on all of their adventures, and getting stronger. In fact, Kuririn is the strongest human. There is and episode where he has a girlfriend named Marron. Later on in the series, he gets married to Andriod 18 and has a litte girl whom he named Maron, after his FIRST girlfriend. He was about 23-24 when he had Marron as a girlfriend.

Yamucha

Goku and Yamucha started off as enemies, but since of the common enemy, they became allies. He was also SOOOOO shy in the begining, but with the Dragonballs, he can wish that problem away.
He then becomes Buruma's boyfriend, but since he wasn't very committing and flirted with every girl he saw, she dumped him and went with Vejeta. In every saga, he changes his hair style.

Puar

Puar is Yamucha's sidekick and have been together for quite a while. She and Puar took transformation classes and she is the better one at transforming. In the begining of the series they were robbers and hid out in the desert in a rock house. They try to assalt Goku, but hearing bout the Dragon Balls, they stop. She doesn't play much part in the rest of the series, but Puar is one of my fav characters.

Oolong

Oolong is a little pig with an obsession of panties. He was also from the same transformation school as Puaru. He constantly picked on her and was expelled from the school for stealing his teacher's panties.
He makes his debut by terrorizing a village and then Goku and Buruma came to the rescue. Oolong has the same reputation of Kamesennin as a pervert. He was also granted a wish for a bunch of panties.
