Amatl Yei (Chapter 3): Nightmares and Hopes. Darkness... Just a complete darkness... Suddenly two voices begin to talk. One of them is form a man, the other, from a little girl. Man´s Voice: You must do it. Girl´s Voice: Why? Man: Because she dishonored you and your brothers. Girl: But she's a Goddess. Man: But she´s also a priestess. Girl: She is my mother. Man: But she dishonored you. At that moment, apparently floating in the sky, we can see the sheet of an obsidian knife, spinning slowly. The Girl's voice turns into a young woman's voice... Milagros' voice, to be exact. Milagros' Voice: I won't do it... Man: You can't avoid it. Milagros' hand is now visible, reaching for the knife. Milagros: No, I won't... Man: That's your destiny. Milagros: Please, no... (The hand grabs the knife, and at the same moment it begins to burn. Smoke arises from the knife!) Yyyyyyaaaaarrrrgh! Man: (Laughs histerically) HAAAA, HAAAA, HAAAA!!!!!! Milagros: NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Voice: Milly! Milly! Wake up! Wake up! Suddenly, Milagros wakes from her bed. She's evidently frightened and is covered in sweat. Her mother Teresa is grabbing her by the shoulders. Mother: Easy, sweattie. You were having a nightmare. Milagros: (Hugging her) Oh, thank god you awaked me! It was horrible! Mother: What were you dreaming? Milagros: I... (she then stopped, noticing she cannot confess her mother that a voice was forcing herself to kill her). I... I... can´t... really remember. Mother: That's strange. You don't have nightmares frequently. Milagros: Well (trying to calm herself), after all, it was only a nightmare, doesn't it? In front of a dark mirror, two men are making plans. Striped-face: We must keep attacking on Ehecatl's dominions. Quetzalcoatl has revealed himself, and it will be better for us to get rid of him before Tlilcoatl's (*Black Snake*) descent. That will be the day when the Macuiltonatiuh can be destroyed. Skulled-face: And what about the Yaocihuameh? Striped: Since when the women have had will power over us? Skulled: (A little upset) Are you underestimating my woman's powers. Striped: Of course not. I merely recognize that yours are higher, and you recognize the need of the stablishment of a new sun. Skulled: Haven't you you found her yet? Striped: Don´t worry, She will be safely with us when Tlilcoatl's time comes. Skulled: I hope so, for your own wellfare. If not, Quetzalcoatl will not be your main trouble. Striped: As I said, my friend, you don't need to worry. The man with the face painted like a skull leaves. Striped: Idiot. Milagros: (Walking to the school with Tameme) ...and then my mother awaked me. What do you think that nightmare can mean? But Tameme kept walking, apparently not listening... or thinking too deeply. Milagros: Tameme!, are you listening to me? Tameme: Oh...., yes, yes! Are you sure you dreamed it? Milagros: Yes. I almost can feel my hand hot. I tell you it was... Voice: Hey, Milly! Both turn backwards to see Dolores coming to them. Milagros: Hi, Lola!, How are you? Dolores: Fine, thank you. How's your dog? Milagros: He's very fine too. Even "Capea" is beginning to accept him. Dolores: Your brother?? Wow, Tameme surely has his "angel"! And talking about white rhinos, have you thought about the "chambelanes" for your 15-years party? Milagros: Not really, there´s still plenty of time... Dolores: You're overconfident about it. Sooner than you thought, Zas!, the date is here. Milagros: Yes, you're right... Well... You think Manuel will accept if I ask him. Dolores: I don't see any trouble, but surely the team's girls can take it as a gesture to search favoritism. In resume, only he can answer you. Milagros: I'll ask him on today's practice. Oh, we're here! Alright, Tameme, go back home, we'll talk later. Dolores: Talk? Milagros: (Little sweatdrop) Come on, girl, is merely an expression. How may I talk to my dog?... He, he. (both girls enter to the school). Tameme: (Worried, to himself) Oh, Gods. She's remembering! Please, don't let her do it! Four hours later, universal history's class is almost over. A blond girl is making an exposition to the group, with evident delight from the teacher. Milagros just looks in front, throwing smoke through her nose, while Dolores sweatdrops. Blond-girl: ...And that was the way how the bolcheviques conquered the Czar's Winter Palace, and the Russian Revolution was completed. Teacher: Very well, Miss Alberti. (To the group) Well, youngsters, that's all for today. Your homework is an at least five-pages essay of the Russian Revolution, in two days. All the group moans, then the bell rang. Teacher: OK, youngsters, you all can go. Them all begin to exit, but Milagros remains at her place, still fuming. Dolores: Hey, Milly, What's wrong. Milagros: (Stands slowly and begins to parody the blond girl) "I'm ready, dear Professor", "the Czar was a bad, bad, baaaad person", "A change was reaaaaaly needed", Oh, what a science...! Dolores: Come on, Milly. Milagros: (Walking outside the classroom) I can't stand Paca, I swear you! If she weren't argentine, Mr. Suárez would not have her here. She extends up her right arm, palm up, and in that precise moment she crashed on a man's chest. It was Mr. Suárez! Milagros: (facefaulted) Gulp! Mr. Suárez: Miss Tuchmetztli... Milagros: Yes, Sir? Mr. Suárez: Since you are so good about the Russian Revolution Theme, surely you will not have any problem to make an eight-pages essay. Milagros: Eight!!!!! Mr. Suárez: Until wednesday, Miss Tuchmetztli. Milagros: But... but... Mr. Suárez: Until Wednesday. (He walks to the school principal's office). Milagros: What a... what a... (Then Mr. Suárez turns to her) ...what a problem I'll have if I don't arrive to the next class! (She and Dolores run) Thank God I have Folkloric Dance now! An hour later, both girls are walking out of the school. Tameme is sitted out, awaiting for them. Dolores: You look a lot better now. Milagros: Yes. Huastec dances always calm me a lot. Besides, Paca looks so funny when dancing... Dolores: You shouldn't be so envious. Milagros: Envious! Me! What should I envy from her? Dolores: Let's see... She's a very good Social Sciences student... She has a beautiful blond hair... She's searched by many handsome guys... Her parents are very wealthy.... Milagros: Shaddap, will you? Dolores: I was only answering. Then Milagros noticed that Tameme was looking at her, with a sad expression. Milagros: What about you? Dolores: This is what you meant about "tailking with your dog"? Milagros: Eh!? (sweatdrops) Oh, yeah, yeah! You thought I was expecting an answer? How do you think...! Ha, ha, ha...! They arrive to a bus stop. Dolores: I'm not in the mood to walk today. Why don't we take the bus. Milagros: (Noticing Tameme's look at her) Oh, no, no. I'm still a little angry anout my extra homework, and a little ride will help me a lot. Dolores: Come on, come with me. I pay you the bus. Tameme scratched a little Milagros' leg. Milagros: You see? Tameme also wants to walk. That's the price of a mascot. Dolores: OK, Where captain rules...(A bus arrives) I'll see you at the field (She aboards and leaves). Girl and Dog start walking, looking the bus going away. When they are sure nobody is near, they began to speak. Milagros: Why were you looking me that way? Tameme: Please, No Cihuanton, don't let yourself be jealousy. Milagros: (Fuming) You too? Tameme: Please. It can be too dangerous for you... Milagros: (suspiciously) It has something to do with my nightmare. Tameme: Well... Somehow... Suddenly, a seemingly red light passed flying past them. Milagros: What was that? Tameme: (Worried) Oh, no. Girl, let's run!! (He starts to run) Milagros: What? Why? Tameme: (Turning to her) Come on!! Hurry!!! Milagros: Alright. (She runs to him. When she reaches him, she asks) why are we running? Tameme: That.... That is a Mictlacatecolotl. Milagros: (Worried) A-a-a-nother De-demon??? Tameme: Yes, and... (suddenly, they see a distant red flash on the bus) Oh, no! It did it! Milagros: What? Tameme: It took somebody at the bus! Your friend Dolores and all the passengers on that bus are in danger!! Milagros: Dolores? Oh, no! What can I do?! Tameme: (Looking a group of trees) Follow me! Hurry! Milagros: (Following him) I just have two feet, you know? They entered to the trees, and checked out that no one else was there. Tameme: OK, No Cihuanton, transform yourself! Milagros: (Taking breath) O-O-OK! Then she searched for the Nahuiollin, but she had to empty her bag to find it. Tameme: Your ordering capabilities are not improving... Milagros: We have more important things to worry about. Put my things on its place while I change, will you? Tameme: Yes, but Hurry-Up!! Then Milagros closed her eyes and let the Niahuiollin find the Moon, when it did it, she shouted "To Nantzin Metztli, Ollin!", and seconds later she was Yao... I mean, Sailor Coyolxauhqui. When she turned, Tameme had her bag closed, with any thing dropped. Milagros: You-you finished? Tameme: Yes, and a lot better ordered than you. Milagros: Now, how we reach the bus? Tameme: How do you found me at the dog-pound? Milagros: Well, I... I trusted on the Nahuiollin, and... Tameme: Just do the same. Think on Lola, and do the same. Milagros: Alright. (Then she kneeled and concentrated) OK, Nahuiollin, guide me, please!... Tlazohkamatih... Meanwhile, the bus kept running, faster and faster. All of the passengers, including Dolores, were shouting in panic, but the driver seemed senseless, his eyes shining in red. Suddenly, a white light shined on the bus' door, and a figure materialized in it. You already know who was. Coyolxauhqui: Stop this bus now, you Demon. I'm Sailor Coyolxauhqui, Goddess of the Moon, and to reach my redemption and protect the Macuiltonatiuh, I'll stop you! As if it was waiting for her to finish her introduction, a hole in the street made her jump and fall above the figure. She immediately tried to reach the ignition key. Bus-driver: Bad move. He then opened the bus door, and gave Milagros a hard hit on the mouth, she loose balance, and barely grabbed a handle to avoid falling outside. Coyolxauhqui: Wwwwwaaaah! What kind of a man are you? Noticing she didn't fell out, the driver began to move wildly the bus, trying to throw her out. Coyolxauhqui: (Trying to grab desperately to the bar she has) W-wait, sir!! Stop it, please!! (In a bump, one of her hands got loose and her feet slipped outside the bus! She felt an upgrowing pain on her knees, but the fright overcame it) Wwwwaaaaahhh!!!! Please stooop!! (She felt the growing heat on her boots) Please, help meeeee!!! Then a male hand grabbed and lifted her almost without effort. It was the Eagle Cavalier, who embraced her. Coyolxauhqui: What? (blushing) Oh, you again? Cavalier: I guess we have some work to do. (To the driver). Leave this man in peace! Driver: Go to hell! He turned wildly the bus wheel again, but the Cavalier almost don't moved. Coyolxauhqui extended her hand, he undertood, and neared her, and quickly she turned off the power and grabbed the key. Slowly, the bus stopped. Then the driver began to convulse, and the black heart crystal arised from his chest, flying outside. Cavalier: Come back! Coyolxauhqui: Hey, wait for me! Lola? (She turned to see, and she found her in dismay, like the rest of the passengers) Hold on, my friend, I'll be back (Then she ran outside). She saw the Cavalier running to another little forest, and followed him. On a clear, Heart Crystal and warrior stopped. Cavalier: We're out of sight. You can fought me now. As happened previously, the black color left the crystal in a cloud, and suddenly materializaed into a humanoid form, but also looking like an ant. Ant-demon: I'm Mictlatzicatl, and my lord Mictlantecuhtli commands me to destroy you. Cavalier: It will not be so easy. The ant throw a spit to him, which he avoided. It flied to a tree near where Coyolxauhqui was arriving, and it left a big burn on the tree. Coyolxauhqui: Holy...! First knifes, now acid! What's next? Cavalier: (Avoiding the ant's spittings) Come on, girl... You must help me! Coyolxauhqui: Oh, yes! Hold it, insect! The ant turned to her and spitted. She had to jump to avoid, but the Cavalier took the chance and connected it on the head, nailing it on the ground. Cavalier: You can finish it now! Coyolxauhqui: Alright! While the ant was trying to take its face out of the ground, Coyolxauhqui took the Nahuiollin, extended her arms and shouted Coyolxauhqui: Cohiquetzalmetztli, Axcan! The amulet began to grow and at the precise moment it took its head out of the ground, the gem released its energy, anihilating it. Cavalier: (Grabbing with care the heart crystal) You must take it to the bus driver. He will not survive too long without it. He throwed it to her, flying softly to rest in her hands. Coyolxauhqui: Wait! At least tell me your name! Cavalier: You will remember it eventually. Just remember that you must find the other Yaocihuameh in time for the Tlilcoatl. Coyolxauhqui: The Tlilcoatl? What's it? Cavalier: The day of our worst nightmare. I must go, and you must help that poor man. (He goes) Coyolxauhqui: Hey, wait. (She juggled the heart crystal) Oooops! I must go to the bus! (She had to run to the other side). A little later, Dolores was awakening. She slowly focused, and the first thing she saw was Milagros' face. Milagros: Lola! Lola! Are you fine! Dolores: Wha-what? Milagros: (Drying a tear from her eye) Oh, girl, you really scared me! I thought you were really injured! Dolores: What time is it? Man: You know where you are? Dolores: Eh!? (Noticing she lays down on the bus' floor and a Doctor is talking to her) Well... (She orders her mind) Oh, yes! The driver loose control of the bus and... and... aren't we in time for the training session? Milagros: Why do you care about it? Doctor: I must take you to the hospital for more examination... Dolores: I'm fine, Doc. (She awakes) You see... (she jogs a little, but her back protests. She facefaults, but tries not to show her pain) I-I-I'm fine! Doctor: Are you sure? Dolores: (Sweatdrop) Ye-yeah! Hey, Milly, let's go. Milagros: Are you sure? Dolores: I perceive some echo around here. Hurry, Girl, or we'll be late for my cousin. Milagros: Oh, Holy, Tameme! I left him... Saying this while they were walking outside the bus, both saw the dog sitted there and apparently awaiting for them, holding Milagros' bag on his muzzle. Milagros: Tameme!!?? Dolores: Wow, your dog is really intelligent. You should inscribe it on a contest. Milagros: Let's go. (When they were a little far away) Why you choosed not to go to the hospital? Dolores: Because the Doctor would think I'm crazy. Milagros: Why? Dolores: Because I saw a bright light and a woman materializing on it. She Said something very weird and then the bus shaked wildly. That's when I loose conciousness. Milagros: (Sweatdropping) Yes? Well, probably it will be better for you to take that exam... Dolores: You think I imaginated it? Milagros: Well, you must accept it is quite unusual... Dolores: You know I'm a very lucid girl, Milly. Milagros: Yes, but... I mean.... Well... Dolores: (Looking at her face and giggling) Hee, hee! Alright, let's forget about it, OK? Fortunately we both are fine. (Then she felt another pain in the back) Aaaayyyyy! Milagros: Are you really fine, girl? Dolores: Well, not completely, but I'll be better. Manuel insisted that today's session is very important, so probably I'll only wait for his anouncement, and take a rest. Milagros: We'll go with the club's doctor when we arrive, and that's an order. Dolores: Hey, Tuca, I'm the quarterback, you know? Milagros: Yes, but I'm healthy, you know? Dolores: Yes? And what about that scratch on your knee? Milagros looked the injury, remembered her fall on the bus, and sweatdropped. Milagros: Well... (A light flashed over her head) I tripped on Tameme and fell, that's all. Both girls arrived to the field when the practice had already began. Manuel: You both are late. Milagros: Lola had an accident. Then Manuel went running to them Manuel: Is that true? Are you fine, cousin? (Arriving with them) Dolores: I have a little pain on the back, but I can walk. Manuel: How can you be so stubborn?, you should have gone to the hospital immediately! Come on, I'll take you to the doctor. You, girls, practice alone for a moment. (He lifted Dolores on his arms). Dolores: Hey! come on, Manuel, I'm fine! Really! Manuel: Let the Doctor decide it, OK? Come on, girls! (He goes to the clubhouse). Susana: What do we do now? Voice: May I help you? All of the girls turned to see a very beautifuil woman, who looked around 28 years old. Milagros: Who are you? Woman: My name is Bertha Domínguez, and I have experience playing Flag Football at the National Polythecnic. Player 1: Yes? How can we be sure? Bertha: You think a demonstration is in order? Three players: (In unison) of course! Bertha: OK, follow me. All the group entered to the field. Bertha: OK, girls, fasten your belts. All of the girls put her belts on its place, but one of them prepared a cheat, putting some chewing gum on the nipper. Bertha: Alright, you al must pass at reach of my arms, and I'll grab as many belts as I can. Are you ready? Team: (All at once) Yeah! Bertha: Hut! The girls started to pass, alternately, changing rythm, two at a time, making many tricks, but Bertha took all of the mirror, at the end she retained one in her hand, because its owners left arm was all covered with chewing gum. Bertha: This is what can happen when you don't prepare a cheat wisely, you see? Better forget about any joke. The girl's face turned red, while the rest of the team started to laugh. Bertha: OK, girls, That's enough, or you'll need more proves. Susana: OK, train us a little, and we'll see. Bertha: OK girls, make a row and let's start our heating. A lap to the field, just trotting. The girls began to troat. Milagros and Tameme had their own thoughts: Milagros: I don't know why, but I think I've seen this woman somewhere. Tameme: Holy Gods! She can be her? ====================================== END OF CHAPTER 3
