Milagros seemed to react, and went to her. Milagros: Malinalli, wait... Malinalli: NO! (Milagros freezed right there. After a few quiet moments, Maly gave her a forced smile) I mean, you have the right to think about all of this. Please, do it. I'll see you tomorrow, OK? Milagros didn«t answer, she just looked Malinalli running away, then turned to her tennis shoes on the ground. She scanned for Dolores, but she already was gone. The she remained looking to the ground, fists clenched tightly. Dolores was on her way home, just thinking "God damn freak!". So, she was never aware of the red light flying right to her. =========================================== Yaocihuatl Coyolxauhqui's Codex Amoxtli Ce: The Long Way to Redemption. Amatl Chicoazen: Friendships at stake (Part II). By Mahtlactli Atl. =========================================== That night Milagros was trying to sleep, obviously unsuccesfully, and she even was crying some. Tameme, with another of his mysterious appereances, went to her. Tameme: No Cihuanton. Are you fine? Milagros: Hoy you came in? Tameme: It isn't important. How do you feel? Milagros: How do you want me to feel, if my best friends are pulling me to choose between them? Tameme: I know it's difficult, but I think Malinalli... Milagros: (Sitting on the bed) I always knew you would take side with your bloody mission!, but you don't know how much Dolores' friendship has helped me! She accepted my as a player and dancer when everybody else were trying to force to make a choice, even my parents! Tameme thought for a second, and then spoke. Tameme: Alright, let's forget completely about the "bloody mission", and let's even forget that Malinalli is Yaocihuatl Mayahuel, OK? That has never happened. Milagros : So? Tameme? Now tell me. Isn't Dolores pushing you to the same position where she helped you in the past? Milagros looked fixedly to her bed. Tameme: Tell me, if she had say "let it be killed" when that wolfpack was trying to do it, would you do it? Milagros: She threw the first stone to that pack... Tameme: I Know, and I thank her for that, but if she had say it? Milagros: Well... by the way... she reminded me she always has been afraid of dogs... Tameme: And what did you do? Milagros: I told her... I told her that she may stand right there and witness my destruction. Tameme: In other words, you both gave each other the chance to decide, without pressures or forcing things, weren't you? Milagros looked down again. Tameme: And, right now, isn't Malinalli the one who is leaving everything up to you? Milagros: What do you mean? Tameme: It's quite obvious. What Dolores has done?, she has faked deafness, has scaped away, even has tried to harm Malinalli. Milagros: But she said...! Tameme: You know I'm true, but let's forget it too. What Malinalli has done? Milagros: What? Tameme: She gave you complete freedom to choose between Lola and herself, no matter hoiiw much she may suffer with it. She left absolutely everything up to you. Milagros: That's exactly which upsets me from both of them! Why should I make such a decision? Why, if I love both, I mus't leave one of them to not make angry the other? Tameme: As I see it, just one of them has forced this situation. For a few moments, both remained quiet. Tameme: Look, I know I have no... (She stopped suddenly, like feeling something) Oh, Gods! Milagros: (Worried) What? What's the matter? Tameme: Something's wrong, I can feel it... Mayahuel! something is happening to her! Milagros: Malinalli? Tameme: Yes! I must go and help her! Milagros: Sssshhhhhhhh!!! Do you want to awake my family? How can we arrive there in time? Tameme: We must look for a place where you can change up. Hurry! Milagros dressed and wrote a note, and the went out with Tameme. Tameme: How can you loose such time writing a note?! Milagros: Hey, I«m a family's daughter, I need an aliby! Hurry! After a few minutes running, they found a good hidding place between some trees. Tameme: Here's a good place. Now, change up! Milagros: Alright. TO NANTZIN METZTLI, OLLIN! Right after changing, Coyolxauhqui knelt, grabbing her amulet in her hands. Coyolxauhqui: Please, Nahuiollin, take me with Mayahuel, XIMO! Tameme: Milly, you wait for me! But when Tameme reachjed the light, it was already fading away. Coyolxauhqui was gone. Tameme: What the...!! When the light faded for her, Coyolxauhqui was in an ample house she didn't knew, but before she may think on it, she heard noises of thing falling at the upper floor. Coyolxauhqui: Malinalli! Where are you? When she reached the room where noises came from, she couldn't believe what she saw. Malinalli was trying to get free from a woman which was grabbing her by the neck. Coyolxauhqui: Hold right on, you devil, How do you...? The person turned to her, and Coyolxauhqui became freezed on her place. Coyolxauhqui: DOLORES!!?? Yes, was her friend the one who was attacking Malinalli. Coyolxauhqui: (Walking to them) Lola, what are you... But before she can say something else, Lola gave her a terrible slap on the face, making her fly to the other side of the room, knocking hardly on a wall. Coyolxauhqui: Ooooouuucchhh! But, what...? Dolores placed again her hand over Malinalli's neck. Malinalli: (Struggling to get free) No... no... her eyes... Was then when Coyolxauhqui noticed that Dolores' eyes had a strange red bright. Coyolxauhqui: Holy God, she's possessed! Get out of her, you demon!! She tried to move Dolores away, but she now seemed an steel statue. Coyolxauhqui wasn't unable to move her an inch, and she merely raised her arms a little, forcing Malinalli's feet to leave the floor! Malinalli: Aaah-Aaaaagghhhh...! Coyolxauhqui: (Almost crying, and pushing desperately her possessed friend) Lola, please!, please, don't do it! I know you are in there. Tameme: I'm afraid is not just the Mictlacatecolotl! Coyolxauhqui: (Surprisingly looking to her dog) How do you came? Come and help me here! Tameme: There's no time, the Demon only has took Dolores's dislike of Malinalli, and has increased and used it on its benefit. You must harm her to get Maly free! Coyolxauhqui: Oh, no! Please! Desperate, she turned to Malinalli, and noticed she was loosing strenght, but in her eyes noted she was agree with her. Tameme: If you ain't gonna do it, I will! The dog jumped over Dolores's wrist and began to bite, but she barely noticed it, and with a quick hand move threw Tameme to the other side of the room. Coyolxauhqui ran to help him. Coyolxauhqui: TAMEME! Are you fine? Tameme: (A little dizzy) Yes, but we have no time (Malinalli's face was turning blue) You must use your Yecapil! Coyolxauhqui: My what?? Tameme: The gem on your nose. Coyolxauhqui: But I've never been able to pull it away from me. Tameme: Just concentrate in using it as a weapon, and when throwing you must shout "Metztli Yecapil, Ehua!". Coyolxauhqui looked again to her friends, and slowly standed up. Tears were running down her face when she took the noser with her right hand. Malinalli looked at her, and her eyes opened even more when she noticed what she was going to do. Coyolxauhqui: (Very low, while grabbing the yecapil) I'm sorry, Lolita... (The she moved her hand backward while shouting) METZTLI YECAPIL... (then released) ...EHUA!! She threw the yecapil in a very similar way to Sailor Moon's tiara. Dolores looked expressiveless to see the gem flying right to her wrists, while Malinalli looked it with wide open eyes. Coyolxauhqui just covered her eyes waiting the worst, shen suddenly she heard the clang of the Yecapil falling to the ground. One of Malinalli's shoes was cut, and even her fleet was bleeding slightly. She had deflected the attack wuth her own foot! Coyolxauhqui: B-but, Malinalli! Why...? Malinalli: (Weakly) I.... I know... what it means... don't... don't.. do it... Right then, a tear ran over Dolores' left cheek, and her arms strenght decreased enough to allow Malinalli, with a big effort, to push her with her feet to the bed. Coyolxauhqui: MALINALLI!!! She ran to her friend, but she extended an arm while trying to recover her breath. MALINALLI: Wait... We'll do it later... We-we have another friend to help! (She looked Coyolxauqhui with determination, and received a silently "yes" in response) TO NANTZIN CHALCHIUHXOCHITL, OLLIN! After her transformation sequence, Coyolxauhqui and Mayahuel turned to Dolores. Mayahuel: Listen, Mictlacatecolotl, this time you went too far! Coyolxauhqui: That's right. You used a girl's confusion about an unknown situation, and it is unforgiveable! I'm Sailor Coyolxauhqui, and to reach my redemption and protect the Macuiltonatiuh, I'll stop you! Right them, Dolores closed tightly her eyes. Coyolxauhqui: What's happening...? Dolores: AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! She gave a horrifying shout, and then her blacked heart crystal flew away from her chest. A black cloud went out of it, and it took the form of a woman with green skin and covered with thorns. Demon: Impossible! That "Macehual" (*plebeian*) woman pushed me away! Coyolxauhqui and Mayahuel ran to Dolores, who was fainted and very pale. The Demon tried to use their distraction. Coyolxauhqui: Dolores! Dolores, wake up! Demon: I'm Tenocihuatl, and my Lord Mictlantecuhtli commands me to destroy you all! Tameme: Oh, no! Coyolxauhqui, look out! But a rain of thorns was already flying to them, and Coyolxauhqui understood immediately that she would not be able to stop the attack. But in that moment she heard: METETEPAMEH, TLAKPAK! And right then a "box" apparently made of green light, received the thorns, and they felt to the ground. Mayahuel had both arms up to the sky. Coyolxauhqui: Holy! You did it? Mayahuel: Y-yes, but don't ask me how! Tenocihuatl: You both should not think this is my only resource. Let me hug you!! Mayahuel: (Ready to receive her) Really? But unexpectedly, Mayahuel seemed to trip and fall, but on her way down, one of her legs smashed the demon right on the plexus, forcing it to go backward, really hurt. Coyolxauhqui: What are you doing? You're fighting like a drunkman! Mayahuel: (Smiling, with her face looking completely normal) Well, what else can you expect from Mayahuel, "the Drunkenness Goddess"? The Demon attacked again, and this time Mayahuel seemed to fall backward, while her opponent tried unsuccessfully to smash her. When Mayahuel felt, her legs leaned on the monster's stomach, and with a small turn she sent it flying into a lateral wall. Tenocihuatl: (On the ground) Damn! Mayahuel: Do it now, Coyolxauhqui! Coyolxauhqui agreed and took the Nahuiollin in her hands, while concentrating. Right when the demon looked up, she opened her eyes and saw hers, while she shouted: COCHIQUETZALMETZTLI, AXCAN! The demon vanished in the middle of the energy beam. Mayahuel: Go with Dolores, I must look for my uncle! (She runs to the next room). Coyolxauhqui: Dolores, Dolores!! Please, wake up! Mayahuel: (Coming back) He's fine. The Demon just gave him something to keep him sleeping. How is she? Coyolxauhqui: (Crying) I-I don't know, but she looks bad! Mayahuel: We must change and take her to a hospital, quickly! When Mayahuel was moving her arms in front of her nahuiollin, Coyolxauhqui grabbed one of them. Mayahuel: Eh? Coyolxauhqui: Thank you... Mayahuel: (Smiling) As I told you, I know what it means... After transforming, Malinalli passed next to Tameme, who was looking ashamed. Tameme: I'm sorry. I just didn«t know how... Malinalli simply knelt to caress and kiss his forehead. Malinalli: Ssshhh! I know what you mean. Thank you, pal. Then she stood and went to her uncle's room, looking for a phone. At the hospital, Milagros and Malinalli were waiting the arrival of Dolores' parents. They arrived soon. Father: Milly, what happened? Milagros? I-I don't know... Well... Malinalli: She went to my house to talk with my, when someone tried to robe us. Your daughter is very brave. Mother: What did you do her? Malinalli never foresaw that question, and she just looked down. Milagros too, but she spoke. Milagros: Not being perfect. What else she can do to Lola? Just then the woman noted Malinalli problem, and she blushed noticeably. Right then a doctor went to them. Doctor: Miss Dolores PŽrez's relatives? Father: We're her parents, doctor. How is she? Doctor: A little delicate, but she will overcome it with a blood transfusion. The problem is her bloodtype, AB negative. Is the must difficult one to find. Both parents looked at each other, and then to the doctor. Father: We were afraid about it. None of us has that kind of blood. Malinalli: I do. Surprised, all of them looked to the handless girl. Malinalli: When I had my accident... well... my amputation was unavoidable because was impossible to collect enough blood in time for a reimplant surgery, but then I knew my bloodtype. I can donate the blood, doctor! Dolores' father hugged each other, visibly moved. Doctor: We must proceed right now. Follow me, please. The Doctor and Malinalli entered a long corridor, while the parents and Milagros looked them going. Milagros: (crying, and lowly) Thanks again, Maly. An hour later, Malinalli and the doctor came back. She had her left arm flexed and holding a piece of cotton. Father: How is my daughter, doctor? Doctor: (Smiling) As I told you, it was nothing a blood transfusion couldn't overcome. I'm glad to tell you your daughter is all out of danger. The parents embraced each other, while Milagros did the same with Malinalli. Malinalli: Hey, Milly, what's up with you? Then, the PŽrez went with her. Father: I don't know what happened between my daughter and you, but I thank you in her name. Malinalli: (Blushing) Don«t worry. (Then, her eyes get wet) As I said, m-maybe if I... If I'd have... (The she hugged Milagros, and both began to cry. After a few moments, she tried to recover and dry her tears) I-I'm sorry... Dolores' mother went to her, and after drying her face with a handkerchief, she kissed her. Mother: Thank you, girl, and forgive us, please. Malinalli: What should I forgive? Doctor: Excuse me, but this young lady has just donated blood, and must recover her energies (He takes a green ticket from his coat and extends it to Malinalli) Here you are, a meal ticket. Malinalli: Can my friend come with me. After all, I wasn't prepared for this, and maybe I'll need some help. Doctor: (Taking out another ticket, and giving both to Milagros) I don't see why not. Alright, you both can go. Milagros: Thank you, Doctor. (She takes both tickets and walks with Malinalli to the restaurant, while the Doctor keeps talking with the PŽrez's) Hey, Maly, Why you asked the doctor to allow me to go with you? Malinalli: Obviously, you've never tasted a hospital's food. That«s what really makes them depressive! Both laughed freely, for the first time since the recess on the previous day. By the next day, Malinalli entered Dolores' room, who wished to speak with her when she knew she had been the blood donator. When Malinalli came in, Dolores was looking through a window opposite the door. The visitor walked slowly. Malinalli: How are you? Dolores: (Not turning to her) Fine. Malinalli: I'm glad. Dolores: (Still looking to the window) Why you did it? Dolores: I had to. Dolores: That's not true. You could kept quiet, or just say you naven't the blood type. Malinalli: No. I wouldn't be able. Dolores: (Not turning, but with a breaking voice) Why? You know that, surely, I would not do the same for you. Malinalli: (Getting serious) I know, and maybe some people that I knew in the past did me the same, unintentionally I hope. But I didn«t do it to change your opinion about me. You know what? If making you angry or happy can bring my hands back. I already be youir worst nightmare or your sweetest dream, but... (she had to dry a tear while saying this) ...it will never happen. Thanks to my uncle, I finally can accept what I am, and I know I can overcome it. Dolores: Maybe... maybe it was... Malinalli: Eh? Dolores: Maybe it wasn't disliking, but envy. (Finally Dolores turns to see Malinalli's face, and her own was completely red and wet) I... I was Milagros' only friend for many months, and... well... you were the "freak" of the school... to be your friend was... Malinalli: "Social Suicide"? Dolores: (Looking down) Probably, I won't that for Milly. Malinalli: I understand you. Dolores: Thank you, but right now I can't understand myself. As a friend, I should have made the same than you, to allow her to decide, but my selfishness blinded me. (The she looked at Malinalli, and offered her right hand) Do you forgive me? Malinalli: Of course. Malinalli raised her right stump and Dolores grabbed it, this time without any disliking. A little later, Malinalli left the room, and Milagros was waiting for her. Milagros: Everything's fine? Malinalli: Yes, don't worry. Finally you have what you wished for: two friends that can accept each other. Both smiled and went to the exit. When reached the street, Malinalli suddenly stopped. Milagros: What's up? Malinalli: Nothing, is just... Well, Dolores told me something that I must accept has sense: to be my friend can be a "social suicide". Why don't you simply decided to keep Dolores? Milagros: How can I explain you? Look: sometime ago I read a comic... I think it was a "Chanoc" one, where a man with a wood leg inscribed to run the 100 meters. One of his neighbors came to him and asked "Hey, how do you think to run the 100 meters with a wood leg?", and he answered, "I can run better with one than you with four". Malinalli: (Looking to her friend with wet eyes) That's funny, but what it has to do with all of this? Milagros: Nothing, but it made you laugh, or not? Both girls laughed and hugged each other, and that way they walked to the bus stop. ============================================= END OF CHAPTER 6
