Now, on and on, she remembers last saturday's game. She remembered when coach Bertha gave their uniforms. They were a bit old and their numbers looked like made with blue tape, slightly darker than uniform's, but every girl took hers with great hope and bigger illusion. But, as Manuel expected, the game was an absolute mess. For Milagros, and apparently all of her teammates, the field was too narrow, the yards too long, the end zone too far away, and they felt like moving in slow motion compared to their rivals. Mily herself was unable to catcha single pass thrown to her, and sometimes, she was about to swear it was made out of butter. By mid-second quarter, "Celestes" loose thier first official game by the highest score possible, 55-0, ending by rule. Both teams shared a food after game, but Milagros felt a bit of stubborness from the other team. Obviously Dolores also felt it, and was about to shout something, but Manuel remained next to her, and was able to calm her down. Going back to the field, Bertha tried unsuccesfully to cheer up the team. She was remembering it, when suddenly felt somebody falling over her legs. Milagros awoke surprised, and noticed she was her mother, who has tripped with something, and by reflex had to put her hands there, trying not to fall farther away. Milagros: (Sleepy) Mo...Mom! Ahhhuuummm!... What's up? Mother: Mily: I don´t know what else to do to put some order in here! I'm afraid, for all of us safetiness, I'll have to ask dad to find a maid to help me up here. =========================================== Yaocihuatl Coyolxauhqui's Codex Amoxtli Ce: The long way to Redemption. Amatl Chicnahui (Chapter 9): "Dirty Face". By: Mahtlactli Atl. ============================================ By wednesday, Milagros returned home on a very low mood. Not just Malinalli hadn't come with her, for having a lot of drawing homework to do, or Donají don't appearing there; must of all, the team had slimmed from 18 to 14 players. Entering home, the phone rang. Milagros: I'm here! Hello? Ameyali: Good afternoon! Is Milagros there? Milagros: That's me. Ameyali: Hi! How are you? This is Ameyali. Milagros: Hello. Ameyali: You don't seem to be too cherfull. Milagros: I'm not at all, to be honest. Things on my team are turning bad. Ameyali: I'm sorry about it. Hey! I want to invite Maly and you to join me for a meet I'll perform, at Chapultepec. Milagros: Really? It sounds great! When will it be? Ameyali: Saturday at four P.M., but... Milagros: Saturday at four? Well, I guess my parents will allow me... Ameyali: Hey, Mily! Milagros: (Noticing Ameyali a bit too serious) Something's wrong? Ameyali: I don't know... well... To be hoest, Tameme suggested me to meet you both after my competition, and he even want us to go camping for that night. Milagros: (Sweatdropping) Tameme?! Do you mean Tameme was with you? Ameyali: I found him at my sports complex at 11 o'clock. How he can arrive so far in such little time? Milagros: I don't know (She looks through the window and finds the dog, lying down near his dog house and seemingly sleeping), but I guess I'll ask him. Ameyali: OK. I wish you all may come. It seemed really important for him. Right when I hang on, I'll call Malinalli. Milagros: That's OK, then I'll confirm you. Bye! Ameyali: Bye! After hanging, Milagros gently knocked the window. Tameme raised his head, and Milagros signaled him to go to her room. When Milagros turned inside, she found her brother right in front of her, shaking an ample dance skirt in front of her eyes. Servando: I almost broke my humanity up there in your room, damn it! Milagros: "humanity"? Here we use to call it "face", you know? Servando: Don't change the subject!, When will you arrange a little that room? Milagros: And what the hell do you have to do in MY room? Servando: (Sweatdropping) Well... (Recovers his dignity) None of your business!! Milagros: I hope so. Can you imagine the sports newspapers headlines? Servnado "The Indian" Tuchmetztli, promising national bullfighting star on the rise... has some "bad manners"!! Servando: (Throwing the skirt to her face) Don't can me again with that! Milagros: (Running to the stairs) Don't go spying to my room ever again! BLLLLEEEHHHH!!! After sticking her tongue on him, she runs upstairs, leaving Servando very angry. She arrives to her room. Tameme: (only his voice, "shouting" as low as possible) Help! Milagros: Tameme? Tameme: Down here! Milagros noticed a big table cloth, moving between the mess. She pulled it, and Tameme went rolling to the other side of the room. Milagros: Tameme! Are you OK? Tameme: This was an indignity, no cihuanton! My pride is all broken up in a million pieces! When will you arrange a little up here? Milagros: Yes, "mom", yes... Hey! I'm the one who makes questions here! Tameme: I guess Ameyali already called you... Milagros: Of course she did! What were you doing at Naucalpan? Tameme: No cihuanton Chalchiuhtlicue also needs help to accomplish our mission, so I must take care of her too. Milagros: And "taking care of her too" needs to take us on a trip? Tameme: A camping trip, no cihuanton, a camping trip. Besides, that trip is for you three. I need to find out what happened to the "main altar". Milagros: "The Main Altar"? Tameme: Yes. What's the matter? Milagros: (Worried) Hey. Have you never been at Mexico City? Tameme: No. Most of my time, I've been at the Temples' Place. Milagros: (Facefaulted) The "Temples' Place"??? Tameme: (Sighing) I guess you are not undertanding a single word... Milagros: I hope so, because if the "Main Altar" is what I'm thinking, I'm afraid you'll not like what you're about to see... Tameme: (Sweatdropping) What?? At he Dark Mirror room, the man with the skull-painted face is "reading" some drawings, surely a codex. Then, the striped-painted face man arrives, making an strange noise with each step of his left foot. It seems like a metalic sound, but not quite exactly. Stripe-face: What are you reading now, my friend? Skulled: I´m trying to find something about her in this "drawn-book". It is apparently more efficient than others... The stripe-painted felt the innuendo, but was able to hide it. Stripe-faced: Come on, my friend, come on. Believe me, I have my servants looking all over for her. Skulled: (Keeping his eyes on the codex) Your servants? I believed you had no servants. You don't need them... The stripe-painted noted he spoke too much, and for a moment an anger vein arrised on his head, but once again, recovered his cool manners immediately. Stripe-faced: Damn, my friend, you got me! To be honest... I sent the four generals. Right then, the skulled man raised his face. Skulled: You... Did you say the Four Generals?? How do you dare??!! Stripe-faced: Well, I must recognize I had no great advances in my searchings lately, and since you have said a lot of times that I may do whatever I need to find her, so... Skulled: (Really angry): Damn! If I weren't so desperate to find her, you would be regreting this already! (He points the other one) You must find her quickly, and bring the generals back here as soon as possible!! Do you undertand?? Stripe-faced: They'll be back as soon as we find him, OK? The skulled man not answered, he just took the codex and left the room. The striped man walked to the mirror, and smiled maliciously. Stripe-faced: (To himself) That's what you think, my friend. They are down there just to take care if things get too difficult on earth. They are my victory insurance! To be honest, I don't care a damn for you wife... Slowly he starts to laugh, until reaching a guffaw. Milagros and Malinalli went to Ameyali's competition, where she finished in third place, but she didn't felt quite satisfied with her performance. Mr. Alvarez: I hope you take good care of my daughter, Malinalli. I don't know why he had this sudden camping idea. Tameme turned to another side. He was about to whistle, while the girls sweatdropped. Malinalli: D-don't worry about, Sir. I'll advice my uncle you'll visit him next monday... Mr. Alvarez: Thank you, girl. (To Ameyali) Please be good, Ameyali. Ameyali: Come on, dad! I'm used to campings with the team's boys. Mr. Alvarez: Well, then I guess I have nothing to worry about, mostly that now will be no boys... Ameyali: (Low and a bit sad) That's because none of them wears glasses... Mr. Alvarez: Did you say something, Baby? Ameyali: (Placing a hand on her backhead) ME? NO, NO, NOT AT ALL? Ha, ha, ha! (Quickly kisses his cheek, and pulls the other girls by their arms) Let's go, girls, let's go! Milagros: (Big sweatdrop) So-so long, Mr. Alvarez. Mr. Alvarez: Goodbye, young ladies. Have fun. The girls decided to rest in a lodge near Ajusco mountain, paying each one her own expenses. Then, they went back to downtown Mexico City, and going to a library. Malinalli, the most used one to libraries, helped Tameme to find the information he was looking for. Librarian: I'm sorry, young lady, but your dog can't be into de library. Malinalli: Well, it's just... (She looks down, and finds Tameme isn´t around. Then she smiles) Which dog are you talking about, madam? Librarian: What? (She can't find the dog, either, and scans franctically) Well... I mean... I sup-supposed... (Sweatdrop) Well... he, he... I beg you pardon... Malinalli: Don't worry. You're welcome. The librarian lady went out, and then Tameme appeared by Malinalli's other side. Tameme: Some people cannot appreciate a well-instructed guardian. Malinalli: I really want to know how can you do this. Tameme: You'll find out. Someday you'll find out. Come on, let's keep looking. Two hours later, the librarian comes back. Librarian: Young lady, we'll close soon. Malinalli: What? (She looks the wall clock) Oh, my, it's too late! Tam-...! I mean... Well, thank you. I'll look for my friends. Malinalli went to another hall, and found Milagros and Ameyali... sleeping! Fortunately they were not dripping on the books, but very near on the table. Milagros looked very serious with a book about Mexican Folk Dancing Dresses, while Ameyali was smiling in dreams over an Optical's Catalog. Malinalli sweatdropped. Malinalli: (Shaking Milagros' shoulders) Mily, Mily! Let's go! Milagros: (With a big yawn) What... How... When... Where...? Malinalli: Let's go, or we'll not find a bus back to the lodge! Milagros: Oh, yeah, yeah. Ame... (Shakes a bit her hand) Ame... Ameyali: (Daydreaming) He, he (Devilish smile) Hey!...calm down... hee, hee... Malinalli: (Exasperated) IT'S ALMOST NINE!!!!! All of Library Workers: SSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sweatdrop on the three girls' heads). It was a very dark night, when the girls left the underground near Mexico City's Templo Mayor (Main Temple). When they left, streets were empty, but they saw Tameme sitted in front of the balustrade surrounding the ruins, all quiet and with wet eyes. The girls went with him. Milagros: (Shyly) Tameme? Tameme: (Really sad) Gods' Heavens... What happened here? Malinalli: Many things. That's why we went to the library. Tameme: (Keeping his view on the small corner's ruins) I know, I know... it's just... I never guessed it would hurt so much... Madam Coatlicue, Coyolxauhqui and I... walked so many times around here... It was so beautiful... Milagros: (Hugging the dog) I'm sorry. Tameme: (Closing his eyes) Let's go, no cihuanton. I think tonight I'll not be able to find out anything. We'll see some other day... Right when Milagros stood, they heard shots from a near street! Ameyali: (Scared) What was it? Drunken-man voice: (Coming from where the shoots came) Hold righth there, you #$%#$ girl! Stop in -hic- the name of the law! The girls ran and the dog ran to a near alley, and they saw turning the corner a very disarranged girl, running while holding an accordion and a guitar hanging on her back. Following her, were two policemen, obviously drunken, following her while shooting to the air. Police #1: Wait, $&$"# baby! You'll have fun! Police #2: I said stop! Suddenly four hands went out of the alley, and pulled inside the girl. Police #2: What the $%#%&%? ¡Fo-hic-follow me, mate! Both policemen, stumbling, went to the place, but suddenly, a dog without hair and blank eyes appeared in front of them, and behind him, a woman covered with a black plastic fold, deeply hollow-eyed and her hair undone. Police #1: Wha... what... where's the suspicious girl? The policemen aimed to the appeared woman, but with a very fast movement, the dog took away the guns from them. They were really amazed, and looked fixedly to the woman. Police #2: Pa-pa-partner! I don't like this a bit! Slowly, the woman began to talk. Woman: Wwwwwwwooooooooooohhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Police #1: Loo-loo-look, ma-madam, we....!!!!! Woman: Aaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Police #2: PA-PA-PA-PAAARTNEEEERR!!!! Woman: AAAAAAYYYYYYEEEEEE, MYYYYY HAAAAAAAANDSSSSS!!!!! WHEEEEERE AAAAAARE MYYYY HAAAAAAAAAAAANNDDSSSSSSSS!!!!! Both men were so scared, that their drunkenness went away. Police #1: MOOOOOMMMMM, THE CRYING-WOMAAAAAN!!!!! LET'S GO, PARTNERRRRR!!! Almost dragging his mate, who was like petrified, the first policeman jumped into his car, and then they went away like a ray, with the car sweatdropping and jumping. Tameme: (Turning his eyes back to normal, and with a big sigh) Pheewww!! One more minute and I'd not be able to stand the headache. You weregreat, no cihuanton! The woman tried to wip her face. Probably you have already guessed she really was Malinalli. Malinalli: Thank you. You know?, I think I'm finding out some advantages of my condition. Tameme: Let's go back with them. Malinalli: (To the alley) Mily, everything's fine? But Milagros and Ameyali were looking fixedly to the girl, who had her eyes closed, her hands interlocked grabbing a rosary, and moving her lips silently, like praying. Ameyali: (Turning to Malinalli) She's acting like this since we hide her. The girl was indeed praying. She looked like 12 years old, with brown hair slightly curled, held on a pony tail, and two too big teeth giving her face a very tender expression. But no matter how hard Milagros and Ameyali shaked her shoulders, she kept her eyes closed and prayed franctically, grabbing the rosary with her arms surrounding her accordion. Slowly, Malinalli went to her. Malinalli: Hey, girl! Are you OK? The girl opened a bit one of her eyes, and she found Malinalli... still costumized as the "crying-woman"! She took a fright as big as the Policemen's. Girl: AAAAAAAYYYYYYEEEEEE!!!!! (She faints). The girls stood surprised, and slowly lifted their faces to look each other with very comical expressions. Milagros: What... what do we do now? Next morning, somebody opens her eyes. Is the girl, awaking on a bed. Milagros was sleeping on a second bed, while Ameyali was on the floor, in a sleeping bag. A third bed was empty. Girl: Wha-what's up? Where am I? Then she turned to the window and found a girl she thought whe have never seen before. She was looking the sunrise sitting on a chair, keeping her hands inside her overall. Th girl tried to go away unnoticed... Malinalli: Are you awake now? Girl: (Sweatdropping and sitting on the bed) What... what about you? What am I doing here? Are you a "cop"? Then, Milagros and Ameyali began to awake. Malinalli: (Keeping her eyes outside) No, I'm not a cop. But I guess they and you thought I was something worse. Ameyali: Easy, Maly! Milagros: (To the girl) Are you OK? Girl: Yeah. Milagros: What did you do to be pursued by those officers? Girl: (Lifting her shoulders and then holding her knees) That? Who knows? Ameyali: (To Milagros) I think that policemen were too drunk to know what they were doing. Girl: (Smiling sarcastically) They surely knew...! Milagros: And after all, what's your name? Girl: ... Ameyali: Come on! You are with friends. Girl: (Looking by her eyes-corner to Milagros) Purita. The three others sweatdropped. Milagros: No, I mean, the real one... Purita: (Turning her eyes, exasperated) Oh, what the...! My name is Salustia Purificacion de la Cruz, but everybody calls me "Purita". OK? Ameyali was about to laugh wildly, but the look Purita made freezed her. Malinalli: (Turning to her) Is not so bad to be different, you know? There are worse things in life...! Purita: Yeah, yeah! You know, I'm outta here... As an answer, Malinalli took her "hands" out of the overall... and Purita noticed she was handless. She became suddenly pale and slowly blessed herself, while looking fixedly to Malinalli's stumps. Purita: (Lowly) Jesus, Mary and Joseph... Milagros: (Sitting by her side) Don't be scared. She... Purita: (Starting to cry) It wasn't a dream...? Milagros: What? Purita: (Crying harder) Then you... you were... Suddenly, she ran to where Malinalli was sitted and hugged her with all of her strenght! She cried so hard and compulsively, that she was unable to speak. Malinalli never expected this, and didn't know what to do, until she saw Milagros standing and walking to them. Then she smiled and returned back the hug. Ameyali also went with them, and the four girls remained there a few minutes, embraced and crying a bit, until Purita began to calm down. Milagros: You were afraid, didn't you? Purita only accepted with her head. Malinalli: (Trying to smile) Well... I must accept me too. When they aimed their guns to me... well... I was about to have an "accident"! Until then, the girls were able to see Purita's smile. Even with her big teeth (or maybe because of them), she had a really beautiful one. Milagros: And where do you live? Purita: (Standing in a hurry) OH, MY GOD! (She runs up and down the room) Where is it? Where is it? Ameyali: What?! What are you talking about? Purita: My guitar! I need my guitar!! Milagros: At the closet (she points). Behind that door. Purita opened a wood door and grabbed her guitar. She took it out of its cover and shaked it. Purita: God damn...! They did it! (She kneels and quickly blesses herself) Forgive me, holy virgin, but... What a...!! Milagros: What's happening? Purita: (Deeply depressed) Those cops stole my money... Milagros: Your money? Purita: Misses Tencha just gave me until today to pay the rent. She will kick me out of the room! Malinalli: Maybe if you explain her... Purita: (Standing resignated) It's not the first time the cops take away my money. Well, I'll go for my things. I just... (she clenches her fists and starts to cry again) I'm just... (then she covers her face with her hands) I'm just sorry for my failure to Mr. Ticho! Malinalli: Mr. Ticho? Who's Mr. Ticho? Mialgros: Don't worry. We'll go with you. Ameyali and Malinalli looked amazed to Milagros. Malinalli: What did you say? Milagros: Come on, girls, she has no better witnesses than ourselves! Ameyali grabbed Milagros by her arm and said lowly to her ear. Ameyali: Don't you heard she said "room"? Don't you see how she looks? She surely lives in a bad neighborhood. That's no place for three single girls... Milagros: (Looking her coldly) Don't worry. You can remain here if you wish. You come with me, Maly? Malinalli was hugging Purita to comfort her. Malinalli: Alright, let's go! You may guard our things, Ame. Ameyali: What? Letting you go alone? No way! Now I go with you all. We'll come back for our stuff. Purita only smiled thankfully to the three unknown girls. The four girls arrived to a very poor neighborhood, and thir first shock was to hear how many youngsters in the place talked to Purita, mainly a group which interrupted their soccer game. Player #1: Hey, "Dirty Face"! Player #2: "Dirty Face" "sis-in-law"! Introduce us, didn't you? Player #3: You better go back, "Dirty Face"! Miss Tencha has really "something" for you! Milagros: (Low) "Dirty Face"? That's how they nickname you? Purita just affirmed with her head, but angrier than her was Malinalli, who was forcing her stumps inside her overall. Malinalli: (Low to Ameyali) If those guys don't shut up, I'll ask some help for the "crying-woman" again...! Ameyali: (Sweatdropping) You better shut up first, or we'll be in deep trouble around here! Purita: Do you know a dog is following us? The four girls turned back, and you can imagine whom they saw. Milagros: Oh, God, how careless I am! Purita, this is my dog, Tameme. Purita: Tameme? How funny he looks! Come here, sweetty, come here. (Purita squatted and offered her hand to Tameme, and he turned back his paw, acting like a normal dog) It's really pretty. Hairless, but pretty. But you told me you live near Pachuca! How can your dog be here? Big Sweatdrop on the three girls. Milagros: (Putting her hand on her backhead) We... we had to do some "tricks" on the underground... you know. He, he, he...!! Purita looked her shocked, but quickly accepted her explanation. Then she stood in front of a big porch. Purita: Well, here I- (suddenly she quiets). Milagros: Wait me here. I'll go in there alone. Malinalli: Why? Purita: I don't know. I just feel something bad will happen. Ameyali: Well, you already told us your householder can be very rude... Purita: That's not just that... I don't know... It's something else... Sometimes I have forebodings. Wait me here! (She enters alone) Milagros: (To Tameme) What a weird girl... Tameme: Yes, but... (Right then, Tameme's nose turned red!) Ameyali: Look up there! Milagros, Malinalli and Tameme looked to where Ameyali was pointing, and a red light was coming, flying right where they were, until landing inside the building... right into the room where Purita had entered! Milagros: Oh, no! They attacked Purita! Malinalli: Or maybe it was... (Then, they see Purita flying to the wall at the other side of the corridor) ...It was her householder!! Tameme: (From a near door) No Cihuanton! Over here! The girls followed Tameme inside a semi-ruined building a few meters away, and fortunately abandoned, but Tameme still assured nobody was near. Tameme: Here is safe! Transform quickly! Milagros: TO NANTZIN METZTLI, OLLIN! Malinalli: TO NANTZIN CHALCHIUHXOCHITL, OLLIN! Ameyali: TO NANTZIN ATL, OLLIN! Meanwhile, Purita looked terrified how her householder (a big and fat woman) was doing weird gestures with her hand. Seh was grabbing her rosary, like at the downtown alley. Miss Tencha: Damn it! This macehual is obstructing me! Then, Miss Tencha made a terrifying shout, and after a slight convulsion her darkened heart crystal left her chest. Then a black cloud went out of it, amd took the shape of a spider-woman. Demon: You have too little energy for me! DIE!! The creature made the same gesture than the householder, but this time a huge amount of cobweb strings flew right to her. After opening really big her eyes, she closed them tightly while praying a "Hail Mary". Voice: METEPAMEH, INTLACPAC! Purita opened her eyes, and found in front of her a girl weirdly dressed, with maguey leafs at the end of her arms. Demon: Who dares to interfere my plans?! Coyolxauhqui: We do! (The Demon turns and looks at her) We'll not let you abuse from the misfortunes of needed people! I'm Sailor Coyolxauhqui, and to reach my redemption and protect the Macuiltonatiuh, I'll stop you! Chalchiuhtlicue: And I'm Atlacihuatl Chalchiuhtlicue, Warrior of Water, and I'll also ruin your plans! Mayahuel: (Slowly moving down her arms) And I'm Yaocihuatl Mayahuel, Warrior of Maguey and Nature, and I'll never allow you to hurt innocent people! Demon: Well, I'm Mictlatocacihuatl, and my lord Mictlantecuhtli commands me to destroy you all! The Demon once again threw her cobweb, this time to Chalchiuhtlicue, and she was unable to react on time. Coyolxauhqui: Oh, no! Chalchiuhtlicue! Mayahuel: HUIZMETMEH, AXCAN! Mayahuel sent her thorns attack, but with one of her hand, the spider trapped all of them into cobweb strings. Mayahuel had to jump to don't be caught herself, taking Purita with her. Mayahuel: Oh, my! (To Purita) Hurry! Go away! Purita: But... but... Mayahuel: (To Tameme) Come on! Take her out of here! The dog obeyed and bite one of Purita's sleeves, and practically dragged her to the abandoned building. When he left her, she tried to go back, but Tameme stood in front of her and began tu snarl. Purita: Go!, go away, dog! I must go! I KNOW I MUST GO! Tameme: HOLY GODS!! Purita: (Sitting in shock) Holy Virgin! The Dog is talking! Tameme: Your forehead!! At Purita's forehead was shining a strange symbol. Tameme: It's the yolloxochitl! You are Yaocihuatl Tlazolteotl!! Purita: I am what??? Hey...!! But Tameme wasn't listening. He was already running like pursuing his own tail. Purita: What's up? (Blesses herself quickly) Are you OK? When Tameme stopped, another silver medallion was shining on the ground. Purita: Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Where this came from? Tameme: Hurry up, no cihuanton. You must take this and go help them! In that precise moment, a high pitched shout was heard from the other building, and before Tameme can say anything else, Purita quickly grabbed the Nahuiollin, aimed it to the Sun and shouted: Purita: TO NANTZIN YOLLOXOCHITL, OLLIN! Meanwhile, at the building, the three warriors were tied in webstrings by the Demon, too separated to help each other. Demon: (To Coyolxauhqui, smiling sinisterly) I guess I'll start with you! Then, her web began to rise over Coyolxauhqui's neck. Coyolxauhqui: Stop! HEL-MMMMPPPHHH!! Mayahuel: No, please! Chalchiuhtlicue: Leave her, damn you! Then, the web completely covered her head. Demon: You'll die pretty soon...! But suddenly, the webstrings were cut in two without touching Coyolxauhqui's face. She breathed heavy. Demon: Now who is it! Mayahuel: That's the Eagle Cavalier! Cavalier: Your master is just unable to understand, isn't him? Demon: (Smiling again) Of course he understands. You're the one who doesn't! Can you help the other two girls in time? Voice: Hold it! For your own wellfare, Stop!! Everybody turned surprised to look who have said this. She was an smallest and slimest girl than the others, with her fuku wearing brown and red colours. She had no Yecapil (noser) like the others, but instead, she had big black triangle-shaped spot, based on the middle of her nose and narrowing to the middle of her eyebrows. She also had a band of crude cotton surrounding her head, like Mayahuel's but without pendants. Demon: Another one? Cavalier: Is really you? Tameme: (Following her, and looking very proud) She is, indeed. We found her! Warrior: Please, stop this. This is your last chance. I'm Yaocihuatl Tlazolteotl, the Sin's Eater, Warrior of Confession and Forgiveness! Please Surrender yourself, I beg you! Demon: Would you shut up! The Demon send more webstring over Tlazolteotl. Coyolxauhqui: Look out! But she just joint her hands, like preparing to pray, raised them in front of her noise, following the shape of her black spot, and shouted. Tlazolteotl: TEO CHIPAHUAC, MOTECH POHUI! An sphere of white light surrounded her, and when the web touched it, began to dissolve. Not just those thrown to her, but also those which tied Mayahuel and Chalchiuhtlicue. Chalchiuhtlicue: That's great! Demon: What's happening? (The Demon began to gesture to throw her webstrings, but it seemed as useless as when it was inside Miss Tencha's body). What have you done to me? Tlazolteotl: I'm sorry. You left me no choice. Demon: I still can do this! (Jumps over Tlazolteotl) Chalchiuhtlicue: Oh, no you don't! (She squats next to a water valve and opens it) TEO ATLICHOLOTL, AXCAN! Chalchiuhtlicue's attack knocked hardly the Demon, slamming her over a wall. Demon: Damn! Mayahuel: HUIZMETMEH, AXCAN! Mayahuel's thorns attack was also successful, and nailed the monster to the wall. Eagle-Cavalier: You must act right now, Coyolxauhqui! Coyolxauhqui: I'm ready! (She grabs the Nahuiollin, closes her eyes and concentrates). Demon: No, you don't! (She's able to free an arm and tries to do her attack, then sweatdrops) I forgot it doesn't works... Coyolxauhqui: COCHIQUETZALMETZTLI, AXCAN! With a terrified shout, the Demon was destroyed by Nahuiollin's energy, leaving in her place the householder's heart crystal. The Eagle-Cavalier put a hand over the new warrior's shoulder. Cavalier: Thank you. I'm glad you're here now. See you later! (He goes). Coyolxauhqui made a slight attempt to follow him, but this time she stopped, smiled to the sky and then to the newcomer. Tlazolteotl shyly answered to the smiles she was receiving. When everything was over, all of the girls detransformed, and became surprised when found out that Tlazolteotl was no other one than... Milagros: Purita?! Ourita: (Smiling) I don't know why, but I suspected they were you. Tameme: You always were very perceptive, no cihuanton. It wouldn't surprise me if you remembered further details from your life at the Nahuitonatiuh. Purita: (Trying to remember) No... sorry, but I'm not... Tameme: Never mind, that's no important now. Finally you're with us now. Purita: I don't know. Surely after today, I'll not be able to live here anymore. Miss Tencha will never allow me to stay. Milagros: After everything you did for her? Malinalli: She doesn't knows about it, and never will, Mily. Purita entered her room. It was a very humble one, just with two blankets, an small stove, a bureau, an altar to Guadalupe's Virgin, a tambourine, and a cheap-made fotograph, already turning yellow, where she appeared next to an old man. She extended one of her blankets and gently put over it her Virgin's image and the photograph. Then took the tambourine, and spoke to the picture with wet eyes. Purita: We must go, Mr. Ticho. I'm sorry about this. Malinalli: Wait! Where will you go? Purita: (Forcing herself to smile) I don't know, but it never was a problem when Mr. Ticho was with me. It hasn't to be right now. Ameyali: If I could, I swear you I'll took you to live with me, but we have a very bad maid, and... Milagros' face suddenly shined, and she jumped over Ameyali to embrace her. Milagros: Ame, you're a genius!! Ameyali: Me? (Big sweatdrop). Later, at Tuchmetztli's home. Milagros: Really, mom! Malinalli's uncle says marvelous things about her! You told me last monday we needed a maid to help you. Come on, take her! Servando: You really are a stone-faced girl, you know? Instead of learning some order, you want to take here another mouth to feed! Mother: Shut up, Servando! You have no right to be rude in front of this girl! (To Purita) You know about home affairs, sweetheart? Purita: Yes, madam. The nuns at the orphanage where I grew up thought me everything. Mother: (To her husband) What do you think, dear? Milagros held her breath, awaiting for her father's answer. Father: Well, young girl, we cannot offer you too much, but you'll have a room to sleep and three meals per day assured. You'll be on trial for a month. Are you agree? Milagros: (Jumping over her father to hug him) Daddy, you're the best! She can sleep in my room tonight! OK? Servando went fuming upstairs, While Milagros left her father and embraced Purita. That's how Purificacion was never called "Dirty Face" again, and she became part of the Tuchmetztli family. ============================== END OF CHAPTER 9.
