HISTORY
A weird mix of good and bad luck, has always marked Purita's life.
Accordingly to her mother, she was born in September 14th, Day of Saint Salustia, and following an old rural mexican tradition, the girl took that name. Mother and child arrived to al small church and orphanage at Acolman a few months later, in December 8th, Day of "La Purísima Concepción" (All-Pure Conception). She may have received the more common name of "Concepción", but one of nuns came up with the name of "Purificación" (Purification), and the girl took that middle name.
Her mother took a job at the church, doing cleaning in exchange of food and house for her daughter and herself, but after a year, approximately, she dissapeared with no sign at all. A lot of rumors flew about this, but the true was never revealed.
Purita kept living at the church, where she learnt to pray and housekeeping, probing even better than her mother. She became an expert in usign hand-made accesories, like earthenware pots, molcajete, metate and anafre.
Purita reached 10 years old that way when, in the middle of a school fight in front of the orphanage, a group of kids, headed by one Purita liked particularly, ran away pursuing the "Capital Adventure". It was a big, and almost deadful, mistake of her.
Things could turn even worse, if a few days later she doesn´t met a man named Tirso, whom everybody knew as "Don Ticho" (Mr. Ticho). It was told that he was a famed musician and composer, but one of his best friends stole his authoral rights over his songs, and he never took a cent for them. It was also told that, after a family fight, his only daughter ran out of the house and died under a car. A lot of people said that it was the source of Mr. Ticho's fatherly love for Purita.
Living as a traveling musician, Mr. Ticho gave Purita her first lessons of music, which she learnt really fast, and in a very few months she was able to play guitar, accordion and tambourine. The couple performed in rural buses, undergrounds, and with a lot a luck, sometimes in a public park of downtown Mexico City.
They lived in a humble building, where Purita's fragile look made her a perfect victim of jokes for kids gangs, one of them her cruel nickname of "Cara Sucia" (Dirty Face). Mr. Tirso had to teach Purita how to take care of herself. You can be really surprised to know how agressive can be Purita when it comes out to fight.
Anyway, Mr. Ticho took a lot of care to keep Purita as the happy and sweetheartened girl he met. Since she was a girl (maybe due to her prehispanic background), Purita has a very developed "Sixth Sense" to advice when something strange, good or bad, will happen, even when she can't tell precisely what will it be.
But bad luck struck on her again, and after four years, Mr. Ticho dissapeared just as her mother. He always instructed her to never look for him, afraid that the orphanage may find her. Si she kept living on her ambulant performances.
All of this happened just two months before she met Milagros, Malinalli and Ameyali, when she was escaping from two drunken cops which stole her earnings for the day, something quite common for her...
After helping the Yaocihuameh and discover her own identity, Purita entered to work as house maid at Tuchmetztli's house. Maybe her luck will be definitively settled for good... or maybe not?
Her first name, Salustia, means "the one with health", while her middle and last name combined, Purificación De la Cruz, mean "Purification of the Cross". Those names reflect a lot of her powers and religious devotion.
POWERS
To Nantzin Yolloxochitl, Ollin! (Our Holy Mother Heart Flower, Make Up!):After lifting her Nahuiollin and be covered by its light, she spins 90 degrees and keeps its front looking to "the camera", taking it by its sides. Then she moves it down while closing her eyes, and places it over her nose. Then the light intensifies and her "fuku" begins to be formed, while the "camera" makes a full turn. At the end, she stands up, places her medallion at its places and joints her hands in front of her chin, as in a prayer.
Teo Chipahuac, Motech Pohui! (Pureness Energy, it's yours!): When an enemy decides to attack Tlazolteotl, she joints her hands in front of her face, following the shape of the black triangle over it, while chanting the phrase. Then a light sphere surrounds her. When the attack touches that sphere, it disolves and looses all of its effectiveness for around an hour, more than enough time for the other warriors to attack. But the attack must stablish an uninterrumpted beam between Tlazolteotl and the enemy, to effectively anulate all of its powers.
Cocoxcatzintli, Cualli ic Xinemi! (Sick person, get well (heal)!): This is a healing power. Tlazolteotl lays down the injured and places her hands over his/her cheeks. She looks up to the sky, closes her eyes and exclaims the magic phrase. Immediately her hands began to shine increasingly, which after a big splendor, at diminishes at the same speed, removing all of the wounds and illnesses of the affected. This powers is effective only once per day.
