Propose already!

Lina rose from her normal spot about the campfire to her bedroll. They hadn'
t had the luck to find a town within miles so they simply set camp. Gourry
had already gone to sleep, and was snoring loudly. Annoyingly so. To her
added misfortune her own bedroll was right next to his. Amelia's next to
Lina's and Zel's next to Amelia's. Next to Zel's was Filia's. At that
instant Lina wished she could be a couple miles away so she wouldn't hear
the snoring. Great to find this out now. Lina had the greatest urge to
fireball him to the next time zone, but went against it since Zel and Amelia
were still up. Besides she didn't want to disturb them. Also Gourry was her
fiancée ,and she didn't want to hurt him too much before the wedding. Wouldn
't look too good.
If he only learned to breathe through his nose. Lina forced the pillow over
her ears. Like that was going to help.
She rested her head on her arm, and closed her ruby colored eyes. Lina
wished that Zel and Amelia would finally get together. They had been this
way for the last four years. Always this close into commitment, only to be
thwarted by little petty differences. Somehow Lina felt that sometime soon
they were going to admit the truth to each other ,but why couldn't they get
the whole thing over with already. It wasn't as though there was a doubt.
The past four years they had defiantly had their share of intimate moments.
Lina was sure they had already said they loved each other long before Gourry
ever thought more than one thought at a time.  Now that Gourry had proposed
to Lina, after extensive persuasion on Lina part, there was less time to
have a double wedding. Or rather a triple wedding. Xellos and Filia had
thrown rings at each other which meant they , in each other's mind, were
engaged. Lina turned to Gourry. Marriage. It had only been two weeks ago
before when Gourry asked her.  And only a week ago in Xellos's and Filia's
case.

It had been a cold dreary evening with a dark mood. Rain had fell in
buckets, and they had decided to stay at the local inn that night. Zel and
Amelia were already asleep ,and Xellos and Filia were arguing as usual.
"Namagomi!" Filia fumed. "What were you doing? Making fun of poor Zel! You.
you." She reached for her mace. Before she could get a hit on him he
materialized a few feet away. "Namagomi!!!" Filia tried once again to hit
the irritating mazokou. And once more he materialized a few feet away
smiling like crazy. Why couldn't he act nice. Or at least he could stay
still!!
"Now Miss. Filia is that any way for a dragon priestess to act." He bent
closer to her. So close his hair nearly touched her red face. His eyes
opened slightly.  "Oh, that's right Dragons have the tendency for sudden
outbursts."
In a fit of rage she tried over and over to hit him with her mace. She didn'
t want to cause too much of a scene by turning into a dragon. Filia found
out it was incredibly hard not to lose control with the namagomi so near her
every day. It wasn't like she couldn't have defended herself when that spell
had almost hit her. It didn't matter Xellos saved her. On top of that he
almost seemed nice in that particular instant. Almost.
Filia continued out of the inn and out of town. Then she could turn into a
dragon. Then that mazokou  would feel her wrath.
Lina and Gourry watched as Filia chased the ever so annoying Xellos down the
street. Then as they raced out of town. In the distance they could hear
things being destroyed.
She turned back to her blonde companion. He seemed quite a bit flustered at
the moment. Concerned she asked. "Gourry. What's wrong?"
Gourry blushed a bright shade of red. Almost the same color as her hair.
"Ah, Lina. He played mindlessly with some object she couldn't see in his
hands. "I .ah . just. wanted to."
Wearing a blush of her own she prompted innocently. "Yes, Gourry." Lina
leaned forward a bit, her eyes wide.
"I . do you . Lina will  you" Gourry stuttered the last few words horribly
so that they were all blended and hardly were decipherable. ". would you.
marry me?" He looked up at her, his blue eyes bored into hers.
Lina stared blankly at the elaborate ring Gourry held between his fingers.
"The lady at the market said that you would like it." He said simply. It was
a gold band entwined with glittering silver strands that sparked brightly.
The gem was a deep red ruby. It wasn't overly large but wasn't small ether.
The setting was simple and the ring couldn't be that expensive, but somehow
it seemed worth more than anything Lina had ever received or stolen.
"Oh Gourry. It's beautiful. I love it." She gushed in a un Lina like
fashion. She grasped the ring and placed it on her finger. Lina admired the
pleasing red glow that shone off the gem. "Of course I'll marry you." Lina
then stood ,glaring menacingly at the swordsman. "What took you so
long?!?!?"

 ***
Lina sighed at the memory of the event. After that Filia and Xellos got
together.

"Namagomi!!" Filia cried for the last time, fully exhausted after the many
hours of chasing Xellos from town to town. She rested her mace on the ground
trying to catch her breathe. "Oh, I give up."
Xellos materialized next to her, resting his head on her lap.
"Get off of me!" Filia screamed as she pushed him off her lap. It was bad
enough to admit defeat ,but it was even worse that he acts like that. All
friendly.
"What's wrong Miss. Filia?" he asked. "Don't you like it?"
Confused she searched for whatever it was. "Like what?"
He pointed to her finger. "That."
She looked down at the ring that was on her finger. It was simple. Only a
gold band and single diamond. "What is this for?"
Dramatically he knelt down on one knee. "My fair Filia. Will you marry me?"
"I don't think so!"
Xellos felt the ring thrown in his face. "Oh, come on Miss. Filia you know
you love me."
"I do not!!!" Despite her words she felt the ring materialize back on her
finger.
With a sparkle in his purple eyes he asked her. "Filia?"
"Yes." Filia answered formally out of habit.
Xellos grabbed her hand. "Great, you agree to marry me."
Filia was at a loss for words. Her mouth gapped open.

***
Lina remembered the moment Xellos announced his plans to marry Filia. And
despite her earlier protests Filia almost seemed eager to marry.
The only two left were Zel and Amelia. Lina could hear Zel and Amelia
talking quietly to each other, Gourry still snoring loudly beside her, and
Filia murmuring 'Namagomi' in her sleep repeatedly.
Tired of all the waiting Lina screamed at the two still up. "Amelia, Zel.
Why won't you two just get married already!" Lina's protests woke both
Gourry and Filia up. And even perked up The Trickster Priest to show
himself.
With a slightly confused, slightly amused,  look on her face Amelia gently
explained. "Miss, Lina surely you knew that Zel and I have been married for
the last five years."

Authors Notes: Bet the ending threw you off. Maybe the reason Zel always
protects Amelia because they are in fact married. Well, I hope you liked
this one. Dewa Mata!
