I think that one of the major problems that society needs to face is the "overkill" of the zero tolerance policy (mainly in schools, but also in other areas of society). What I mean by this is that when a student can get expelled from school for having breath drops that contain .001% alcohol, you know something is wrong. I think that teachers and administrators of schools need to cut people their proper amount of "slack" in these issues. It is my belief that it is things like getting kicked out of school for possession of nail clippers (or if youre a principal, you can get away with calling them a "deadly weapon") that makes people angry and makes them want to flip out and shoot someone. Another thing that sort of goes with this is the suspension of students for what they choose to wear. Now, if the student is wearing something highly inappropriate, then the proper action should be taken, but not suspension or expulsion. Currently I am not doing any charity work. This is not because I dont want to, its just because I have neither the time nor the means to be transported to where I need to be in order to participate amongst these activities.
