Melly Indrawati Basiroen was born and raised in Pangkalpinang, Bangka. In 1972 the author moved to the capital city of Jakarta. Married to Hanny Suwandhani in May 1983, the couple are blessed with two children, son Andhika Patra (21) and daughter Timotia Devi (Tia) (19).
