Neon Genesis Evangelion (a.k.a. Shinseiki Evangelion) is a complex anime that takes a lot of explanation to understand completely, but it's totally worth seeing. Of course, it's better if you've seen it because then it'll make more sense. Eva is extremely intense, both philosophically and emotionally, it's not the kind of anime you could pause while you went to grab a soda and come back to. I suppose it's worth seeing just for the animation itself. This page doesn't have everything you'll need to know about the anime, and I left out a lot of spoilers (on purpose)... But I think it serves most of its purpose. There's still lots of parts of Eva that I haven't covered yet, but I'll try to get them up. Now that I've finished the series I know a bit more than I did before ^_^'. I watched a mesh of subtitled episodes and dubbed episodes, so sometimes the information will be a little bit different from what someone else may have watched, especially when it comes to quotes. Also, everything put up is based on how I understood the anime, so it's probably not completely reliable (it's probably not halfway realiable). But, since you're here, take a look around....
