Cancers are known to be emotional, loving, imaginative and sympathetic people. Ruled by the Moon, Cancers are considered to be the "matronly" creatures of the zodiac, well-known for their ability to relate with children and their loving natures. Cancers are known for looking tough, but being sensitive and vulnerable inside. But, as well as being kind they are known to have over-exaggerated emotions, and their mood can change suddenly without warning. Their emotions are extremely delicate, and they become defensive at the slightest sign of danger. On the down side, Cancers being as emotional as they are, can oftentimes sink into a deep depression, not being able to easily pull out of it and pick things up anew. They dislike being direct, and try to approach things from an angle, proceeding gradually. Cancers are naturally intuitive and creative, but sometimes they're forced to build up their logical senses in order to deal with anything that may be thrown at them. Once they've committed themselves to a cause emotionally though, they'll work hard to achieve their goal. Family life is extremely important to Cancers, they're siblings are extremely important and their childhood memories always stay fresh in their minds. Cancers will go out of their way to create a happy and comfortable atmosphere in which they can just relax and take it slow. They love collecting, especially antiques, or things that have some kind of tie to anything historic. Although they go out of their way to create a comfortable atmosphere for themselves, Cancers are far from neat. They tend to like the effect of clutter, making everything seem more lived in, more normal.

Cancers are most concerned about their own emotional satisfaction when choosing a job or profession. They need to have a sense of family in their work environment, and once they've found a job they like, they'll want to stick with it as long as possible. Cancers are instinctive care-takers, eager to help those in need with any problems they may have. Cancers are also good at working with people on a more personal level, making them feel comfortable and secure. They also generally have a gift for cooking, and do well as chefs, caterers and waiters. They work well with Taureans, other Cancers, Virgoans, Scorpios, Capricorns and Pisceans. Although they don't have difficulty working with any one sign in particular, Cancers do feel a bit uncomfortable working with Ariens, Geminis, Leos, Librans, Sagittarians, and Aquarians.

As friends, Cancers can be shy and difficult to get to know, but if you do form a close friendship with one, you'll be treated as part of their family. They need to feel safe and relaxed in the company f others, and to do so a Cancer needs to be around a person for a long time before they totally open up and drop their defensive personality. They prefer that their friendships develop slowly, allowing them to open up naturally. Once they do feel comfortable though, their sense of humor and love of clowning becomes more than evident. They invest a lot in their friendships, and insist on loyalty and trustworthiness. Cancers get along best with Taureans, other Cancers, Leos, Virgoans, Librans, Scorpios, Sagittarians, Capricorns and Pisceans. Usually, friendships with Ariens, Geminis, and Aquarians don't last long.

A Cancer's most sensitive body area is considered to be the chest. Due to this they often have to curb their cravings for rich food in order to maintain the general health of their bodies. The foods that comply best with Cancers are milk, fish, fruits, cabbage, and turnips. Their flowers and plants being maple, acanthus, lily, and others, their flowers are mainly white.

Sailor Moon is a Cancer.
