Capricorns are described as practical, ambitious, patient and humorous people. With an instinctive drive to reach for the top. They work steadily to achieve their goals and are sure footed and cling to their vision with tenacity and drive. Once the dizzying heights of success have been achieved, Capricorns take little time to relax and enjoy the view, as they are once again scanning the horizon for new peaks to climb. Capricorns are serious and disciplined, with a strong need to have their lives organized and well thought out. They like to have perceptible, long term destinations, and need to know where they're going and why. They're patient and cautious, possessing a down to earth nature that is involved with both the practical and material sides of life. For many Capricorns, a career is important, and their self-worth often stems from gaining status and respect in their particular field. This desire to prove themselves means that great hardship can be endured for the sake of achieving their chosen goal. Financial security is a major concern, and their resources are managed with prudence and wisdom. They obtain satisfaction from watching the slow but unyielding growth of their business affairs. Capricorns are responsible, with high moral standards and mature outlooks. They're at heart traditionalists, and prefer sticking to well worn paths and established social mores. Fear of public embarrassment means that they're reluctant to deviate from the norm. This unwillingness to experiment and take risks can halt the flow of progress in areas of their lives, but they're also blessed with a wry sense of humor. Capricorns gain happiness from having the courage to listen and respond to the many different levels of their being.

For many Capricorns, their career takes center stage. They possess tremendous ambition and drive, which is used to fuel a slow and considered ascent. Security and fulfillment are vital, and responsibility gives a sense of power. Capricorns set high targets, and need to work to express their inner spirit. They have excellent management skills, and often find success in business. Their serious demeanor and strategic brilliance makes them top executives and directors. Banking, property, and the manufacturing industry are favored commercial choices, while politics and law offer the chance to wrestle with public affairs. Capricorns are attracted by the possibilities offered by information technology as well, drawing them to architecture, programming, and engineering. Capricorns work best with Ariens, Taureans, Geminians, Cancers, Leos, Virgoans, Scorpios, Sagittarians, other Capricorns, Aquarians and Pisceans. They find Librans too lazy to work with.

Capricorns like to socialize with people who respect the importance of work and ambition. They can seem rather formal and distant until a genuine friendship takes root. Capricorns are loyal, and keep the same friends for many years. They're supportive in the worst of times, but aren't always reliable when they feel that the need for help is not great. They offer a discreet and sympathetic ear, and are extremely thoughtful of their friends' feelings. Capricorns tend to keep their own troubles hidden from public view, and only close associates can tell what's really going on in a Capricorn's head. They get along best with Ariens, Taureans, Cancers, Leos, Virgoans, Scorpios, Sagittarians, other Capricorns, Aquarians, and Pisceans. They don't get along well with Geminans and Librans, finding them to be too demanding.
