Aidan's Rantz an' Raves

All my rants are my opinions, and because I was extremely stressed out these hols I finally cracked. I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE STUPIDITY! Ahem.. so I decided to put up this list of everything that ticks me off that's related to BSSM.. and if you insist on participating in any of these ritualistic attacks I'll slowly stretch out your body on the rack and cut you to pieces at each joint.

The following may be viewed as overly harsh, viewer discretion is advised

Rant Numero Uno: Images

All images for this page were created by me. You may NOT have them. I think that answers all questions regarding backgrounds.. And when I say "Don't use my images without permission," I mean "DON'T USE THE FLIPPIN' PICTURES WITHOUT PERMISSION!" I don't care how image-deprived you are, how new you are at web page designing, how much you love the anime, I'm stingy and I don't like people taking my stuff ~_~! And, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that... if you visited my main page, you wouldn't have to listen to me scream at you now! I do a LOT of work on my images so that they're up to par. If I have to read another e-mail that says "oh.. please can you send me some images?" or "Can I have some of the images off of your page?" I'm going to take a loooong vacation from web designing and move to a country where no one has heard of computer graphics. If you want sites with images look around thru Infoseek or Excite! or thru the Anime Web Turnpike. They're all pretty well organized and have more variety than Yahoo!

Rant Numero Uno, B: You need more images
I don't want anymore images. When I'm compelled to put more up, I'll put more up, but don't ask for them, and don't tell me I need them.

Rant Numero Dos: Links

Sending me mail asking me to link you up is not a good idea. I tend to have a nervous twitch which sets off a series of reactions that end with my mouse hitting the "Delete" button.. If you want me to look, put it in my guestbook.. it may take me awhile but I do read and visit everyone who signs. And since I only put up pages that I really truly like, sending me mail over and over asking is not going to make me like your page any more than the first time you asked.

Rant Numero Tres: "I love your show"

Hearing from anime fans is nice and all, but telling me how great "my show" is is a little fruity. How can it possibly be my show if I didn't have any part in it? I'm just a fan who put up a page on it, and it drives me nuts reading "I love your show" over and over and over again. ô_O

Rant Numero Quatro: Web Rings and Awards

Mailing me and asking me to join your web ring or apply for your award bugs me. It bugs me more than guestbook conversations and asking to trade links. If I have to apply for an award, is my page really worth it? Nowadays there are sixty million people who can give out awards that mean absolutely nothing, so I opt out of them.

Rant Numero Cinco: Image-heavy Pages

When you ask me to visit your page, make sure it's not heavily done in graphics. I hate loading images and I don't like sitting around 20 minutes for sixty 50 KB images to load up. I have a slow modem and a crappy OS, I'm impatient and I don't usually stick around to look at a page when it's got tons o' images. Or just use an alternate-page that's low on the graphics. Or just make sure your image links work!

Rant Numero Seis: Monster Banners and Mindless Entries

Signing my guestbook asking me to sign your guestbook doesn't usually work with me. Neither does putting monster banners in my guestbook, and neither does signing my guestbook with only your banner (a guestbook is for comments for those who didn't want to e-mail or felt so strongly about something they had to comment, it's not for self-promotion). I'm sure everyone enjoys your skill with banners, but I dun like big things cluttering things up when something small would suffice.

Rant Numero Siete: Updating

If all my life consisted of was my anime page it'd be sorta sad, wouldn't it? I update when necessary and I try to update thoroughly. If it can't be updated all at once (which is usually the case with GeoCities) it'll update slightly thru the month.

Rant Numero Ocho: JavaScript and Tables

The only thing more annoying than being asked to visit a page repeatedly is going to that page and finding dysfunctional JavaScripts floating about. I can understand embellishing your page and all, but when you don't know how it works, how're you going to fix it? And if you keep putting JavaScript upon JavaScript, do you really think your visitor's going to wait days and days to watch them load up? And worse than that is the missing tables. I suggest not using things you don't know well less you wish to look like an idiot (like me).

Rant Numero Diez: Cliché, Click, BANG!

There is *almost* nothing.. more annoying.. than CLICHÉS! if i see another link exchange banner.. another embedded MIDI that you can't turn off.. another page riddled with Japanese kanji and lots of "oh.. Character XYZ from anime ABC is *soooooooooo* kawaii" i'm going to be physically ill.

Rant Numero Once: Attack of the Newbies

With all the "Newbie Power" crap going on, it's hard not to get sucked into it if you're new to the online BSSM world, but attacking people for having pages on Sailormoon that have been up for awhile and that're fairly well-done in comparison to yours is just stupid, don't do it.

Rant Numero Doce: Stupidity

Automatically assuming that I am as stupid as I sound is a really good way to tick me off. Assuming I'm crazy and a bit beyond normal weirdness I can understand, but telling me how stupid I am is not a good way to make friends (esp. if you ask me to link you up after that. What the [bleep] is that!?). And don't quote references at me, I'm not gonna read them. Sheez...
