Let's Be More Than Friends Guys suck. Okay, not that that's over with, let's get down to business. I once heard a wise man say he envies women. Why? Because they can have platonic friends, friends applying to their guy friends. They can switch girlfriends plenty of times, but guy friends they seem to keep a long time. They are so lucky they can do that. Guys, on the other hand, are always looking for more from a relationship when it comes to women. Women don't seem to understand this, but I will attempt to explain out thoughts and feelings so you can understand us better. I know, it seems impossible, but I will try my best. First thing to understand: guys are people too. We do things for reasons, not just out of whim or to hurt people. We have our reasons, as screwed up as they might be. And the one reason we usually go up and talk to women is because we want to have sex with them. This reason may change depending on the situation and circumstances, but it's the usual reason. It's our nature. Second thing is that guys have feelings. I know this is hard to believe, but it's true. This is the usual reason guys want to be more than friends (other than the sex thing). Being friends with a girl is a great feeling. Not only do you have someone you can talk to, but that someone is female. It's a real warm feeling, and sometimes, it can be like real happiness. So the guy is led to believe he can make this feeling better by proposing a closer relationship. Of course, the woman doesn't think this way and likes it platonic, but the guy sees it as an improvement to the relationship. Think of it as a friendship with benefits. As you see, the tow view clash, but each side has its reasons. Lastly, guys are innately lonely people. Just like women, men need contact with people. Having a close relationship with a woman is seen as a fulfillment of that need, and the ultimate fulfillment short of marriage. When we have an intimate relationship with a woman, it pushes away the depression of loneliness, if only temporarily. This is a welcome relief for which we will eventually seek permanence. I hope this short essay has helped you understand why us guys sometimes act the way we do. Don't hold any of this against us, we're just guys. We have many, many flaws, but then again, doesn't everybody?
