Out of the mist ahead of you steps a figure. A tall beautiful woman bearing a garnet rod. You step forward as though not of your own will and she takes you back, back one thousand years, so that you will understand.
"Knowledge is power," she says. "Use it wisely."
The world you know fades around you as another one materializes before your eyes.
"This is her story," she says. "The story of Sailor Moon." She fades away and you are left alone to find your own path.
Unsure of what to do you walk towards a palace building where you hear the faint sounds of music and laughter. Before you can reach there, however, another figure bars your path and bids you to look at a young man and his lover on the balconey above.
He introduces himself as simply the "narrator" and says, in words echoing the shadowy figure of before him "This is their story. Serena's and Darien's. Tuxedo Mask's and Sailor Moon's".
You follow his lead and sit on the stone steps on which you stand. Once you are seated he begins the story, the story you had been brought to hear.
The Moon was ruled by Queen Serenity, said to be a fair and just ruler, who raised her young daughter to follow in her footsteps so that she might one day rule as queen.
Her daughter, Serena, was beautiful. She was young and very much in love with the handsom earthen prince, Darien. It was in that time that the Earth, and everyone from it, fell under suspect, putting strain on the two young lovers and making it difficult for them to be together. For an evil force had broken out on Earth, one which threatened the Moon Kingdom.
One night, during a ball, the Moon Kingdom was attacked by Queen Beryl and the Negaforce. Darien died to protect Serena and Serena died to be with Darien. He begged her to go back but she threw herself into the storm that held him. Reaching out they managed to touch hands before they were killed and as their lifeless bodies drifted in the storm tears fell from her eyes, even in death she wept. The Moon Kingdom in ruins and her daughter dead, Queen Serenity trapped Beryl and the Negaforce within the power of the Imperium Silver Crystal. Since destroying them would mean destroying the spirits of all those she held dear she could not kill them.
Serenity used the last of her power to send her daughter, Darien, and the children of the Moon to Earth. Their memories lost to them all, they were reborn a thousand years later. The Queen's cat advisors were put into deep sleep so that they cuold awaken and guide them. Serenity's last act was to send them to a future, one that she hoped would be peaceful.
And they found peace, but it was not to last. In the fourteenth year of her second life, evil forces broke free again and Serena was transformed into the "sailor suited soldier Sailor Moon". However the past remained a mystery and she did not know of her former life, or that she was the Princess which the Scouts sought. But nothing remains hidden forever...
The palace and the man fade from your sight, you catch a glimpse of a shadowy woman dissapearing and you find yourself back on the fog filled street. In your hand you hold a piece of paper with mno memory as to how it got there.
Scrawled in graceful script are the words "Turning Points and Major Events." Below that "Watch" and underneath that "A Moon Star is Born" , "A Crystal Clear Destiny", and "The Past Returns".
You shake your head. Try to shrug it off as a dream. But there's that piece of paper in your hand. You walk away, thinking to yourself that you will watch YTV tommorow at 4:30. Just to check, you tell yourself. Just to check...
