Once a mutant ice hero named Arare tried to stop a mutant energy villain called the Shatterer from taking a Circle of Thorns portal for her own. The portal was destroyed, and the weird energies combined the two. Shatterer's mind was lost, and Arare found herself in Shatterer's twisted form. Arare found that she can now use both their powers. She can transform back to her own attractive form... but with effort and for only a few hours a day.
