Karatsu-jo (Karatsu Castle)
The original castle was constructed in 1609 by Terasawa Hirotaka,
the feodal lord of Shima. The present castle was rebuilt in 1966.
The view from the hill where the castle is situated is magnificent.
You can see the whole Karatsu city, the more than 10 km long sandy
beach, the Rainbow Pine Grove and mount Kagami. Inside the castle is
a museum with archaelogical items and Karatsu ware ceramics.
