History of Clan Dark Legion

Vanquished.

In 2784, after the departure of Alexandr Kerensky, a remote biogenetic outpost on the planet Alshain was operated and guarded by the small clan Great Sharks. This operation specialized in locating and extracting ancient DNA. Held there were DNA samples from the marrow of the bones of long dead Mongols and Assyrians, from the mummified remains of Egyptian warriors, even the DNA from the preserved corpses of the famed Death-Riders that once ruled the plains of La Grave. This operation was top secret, as the Great Sharks were planning on the production of warriors with the finest genetic code- a compiliation of DNA from the most successful warriors in history-the ferocity of a Celt, the intellect of an Alexander, the toughness of a Spartan. All securely placed at the controls of a machine bristling with some of the most powerful weapons ever known.

It was at this time the attack from the House of Kurita came....as information had been leaked that Samurai DNA was housed within...specifically that of Lord Tokugawa. The tiny outpost was overrun. The remains of the vanquished Great Sharks withdrew to the craggy, heavily forested mountains of Sector Bhak'ti. Their technology now gone, they regrouped and commenced round the clock training for a planned lightning strike on the outpost, to reclaim the priceless DNA contained within. Mechwarriors accustomed to the Stormcrows jerky gait or the Nova's forward rush in battle now found themselves on the backs of Shadow-horses; a breed of wild horse found locally in the Bhak'ti region. Those that had shattered the enemy with AC-20's and LPLAS now learned archery, and the rudiments of swordsmanship with makeshift weapons.

It was at this time the rag-tag group got a stroke of luck. The mighty warrior Pheadrus arrived by dropship, piloting a Hellbringer. He was under contract from MetalCom industries to scout the more remote areas of the planet for a proposed uranium mining operation. Upon discovering the group he resolved to unite them, lead them in a night strike on the compound, and with Soulend form an all new clan.

Intrusion

The target was many miles from where the group now planned their attack, but the warriors had taken to their new mounts well. They could hit a target the size of a mans head while riding at top speed, could ride for days without dismounting, and on the sinewy Shadow-horse, could go places a battle mech could not follow. When the night grew cold they burned horses dung; when food ran low, they sucked the blood of their steeds. Pheadrus edged within gauss rifle range of the compound's wall, as the warriors swarmed toward the outpost, determined to take back that which they had lost or die in the attempt. As the hellbringer was out of sensor range, and no enemy power up was detected, the two madcats guarding the compound never targeted, and never moved. Pheadrus then fired a single round from the gauss rifle, punching a hole in the wall, and allowing the warriors to swarm in. Pheadrus then flew toward the outpost, as the warriors galloped toward the mech bay. The madcats, now coming around to investigate the disturbance, picked up the hellbringer on sensors. Unaware of the warriors on horseback, and expecting a conventional mech assault, they flew straight towards Pheadrus with all guns blazing. As the mechbay itself was not guarded by battlemechs...the horsemen went right in, dispatching two elemental sentries in the process. The mechs inside were all armed and ready...there were patrols to be done in the morning. The two madcats had sent an alarm to the compound, but by the time the enemy pilots entered the mechbay their mechs were already occupied - and active! A few bursts of MG fire was sufficient to send them fleeing. The warriors now jetted their 9 assault mechs from the bay to assist Pheadrus. One of the madcats was already destroyed..it's pilot obviously being of inferior codex. Pheadrus's hellbringer was badly damaged, however...and he was locked in mortal combat with the remaining madcat. The enemy warrior picking up the 9 incoming mechs on radar, switched to an open channel and screamed over his radio--"HAHAAAA...YOU SEE THAT, FREEBORN? NOW YOU DIE!!" All nine mechs were on group fire with the madcat targeted, and as he relaxed, thinking they were being piloted by his own warriors, he was instantly vaporized in a blazing fireball of twisted molten metal.

The Legion Awakes

Help was too far away for House Kurita. It would be a week before reinforcements could be summoned to retake the compound. As Soulend ordered all members of House Kurita above the rank of Sergeant impaled outside the gate of the compound, Pheadrus contacted the powerful Four Horsemen, who rushed to intercept any that Kurita could send. Upon hearing this, and getting probe data showing their officers impaled on 20 ft stakes around the compound, House Kurita simply conceded the outpost, and sent a dropship to pick up what remained of their force, who had been held as bondsmen.

Established.

This is how the clan Dark Legion came to be. Throughout the ages DL has grown - through training, recruitment, and improvement. Dark Legion battles on...and continues to thrive on a system of honor almost as old as mankind itself...a system that Lancelot, Musashi, and William Wallace could easily recognize..though they died ages ago. Honor, Loyalty, and Integrity are the backbone of the clan, and as long as there is a need for warriors of honor, Dark Legion will be there.

"Combat is your life. Fear not Death. The honorable will find their end in the field. Honor is the lifeblood of the MechWarrior. Without Honor the MechWarrior is worth less than the dust from whence he came. There is no virtue above Honor. Without Honor there is not Life."

There are none that can escape the wrath of

Dark Legion
