Welcome to the wicked world of Cyberpunk. This is no place for Mr GoodieGood. Only tough guys and chicks. If you're a wimp u won't last for two minutes- either a cyberpsycho will blow your head off with his new RhineMetall cannon or you'll be hunted down by ruthless corporate solos. Streets are full of boostergangs and gomi, drugdealers and jerks only waiting to empty your pockets. The world is controled by corporations from their skyscrapers, their emploees live in clean and safe zones while everything else is dirt and poverty. Only some people can improve their bodies with implants like cyberarms and legs. In a few words you must be the best to live in Night City- world of insanity, high risk jobs and beautiful women.
Cyberpunk 2020 is a role playing game published by R. Talsorian. It takes you to near future- year 2020, world of awesome technology, boostergangs, corporations and cyberstuff. You will usually play in Night City- one of the new built cities in the USA. The USA itself looks a bit different from the country u know. The whole counry is a desert with little oasis' on it. These are the cities. On the streets- there are no rules. Tough guys live, weak guys die. It's easy as that. Characters you'll use during the game are not normal taxpayers- they are heroes who are able to change something, make the world better. You will spend a lot of time in nightclubs picking chicks, fighting punks and listening to the best music ever. Sometimes, when your pocket is empty and there are no eurobucks left you'll have to work. There are a lot of high risk jobs only the best can take. Your mission will be to rescue somebody, whoop some asses, steal data, and many other. But you'll not go for it without anything. Cybernetic stuffwill make you faster, cybereyes and smartlnks will make you more accurate. You'll run faster and jump higher, further by means of your cyberlegs, and you'll be able to carry more with cyberarms. Streets are also full of useful stuff like powerful guns, drugs (really dangerous!!!) and explosives. you'll get it all at your local fixer's place. Before any mission you'll probably go on the Net. Computers and dataterms are everywhere, giving you access to all the information you need. And theres also one thing you need to know- things like love, friendship, loyality don't mean anything to lots of, lots of people.
You will be one of these characters: solo- a killer, cop, netrunner- hacker-like guy, rockman- musician who wants to change the world with his music, fixer- guy who is able to get for u anything you need, nomad- the highway warrior who spends his lifetime on deadly deserts, businessman- a corporate shark, reporter- just a media-guy, technic and a med-technic- they will fix your cyberstuff and than put it in your body!
The best place and time to play cyberpunk is evening in a small, dark room. Change your normal bulb to a blue one, play your best heavy-metal tapes (or CD-s) and enjoy the game!
Little tip- you may wear sunglasses and leather jackets to feel the atmosphere of the game better.
