Rank	 Belt Color    Kata Requirements

5th Kyu (White belt):  Fukyugata Ichi and Fukyugata Ni 

4th Kyu (Green Belt):  5th Kyu, plus Pinan Shodan and Pinan Nidan 

3rd Kyu (Green Belt):  4th Kyu, plus Pinan Sandan, Pinan Yandan and Pinan Godan

2nd Kyu (Brown Belt):  3rd Kyu, plus Naihanchi Shodan and Naihanchi Nidan

1st Kyu (Brown Belt):  2nd Kyu, plus Naihanchi Sandan and Ananku

1st Dan (Black Belt):  1st Kyu, plus Okan (Wankan), Rohai and Passai. 

After 1st Dan, the student could pick the next kata he wants to learn and demonstrate for 
the next grading. 

There is no minimum time in between ranks.  The ability to demonstrate the kata with 
proficiency is all that is needed for rank advancement.
