MY WIFE MY WIFE

MY WIFE

Her name is Martha Fernanda Figueiredo dos Reis. Some people call her Martha, but I prefer Fernanda. She has just turned 32 yo.

Aomori-Japan, summer/2000

My wife is the most impressive creature I've ever met, although I have met many, she is the only one who impresses me in all senses. Also, although living apart (I'll explain later), I am totally addicted to her.

Our similarities,by far, overcome our differences. She is the third daughter of a 4 girl-family. Her father, Raimundo, is a well known lawyer and a State Prossecutor where we live. Her mother, Maria, is also a well known college professor of portuguese litetarure.

Fernanda's parents

Her elder sister, Lina Laura(35), is also a laywer and a State Prossecutor; she has a daughter, Marcela (15). Her second sister is Isabel Maria, 33, married to an architect, Ricardo. Isabel is also graduated in literature but they prefer to run their own business. She has 2 boys, Enrico(8) and Felipe(3). Ana Celia is the youngest sister, she is turning 32 and lives in Ita, Santa Catarina State (South of Brazil) with her husband and sons (Icaro, 8, and Aldo, 2 years old). Ana Celia is a dentist and dedicated, professionaly, to her own dentist clinic.

We do not have babies yet, because we believe it is not the right time for us, now, to make our family "bigger". Although we do not have our own kids, our nephews and nieces are our joy for the moment.

Fernanda studied all her life in a Catholic School for girls (Colegio das Irmas) and since I first heard of her, people's comments, she has always been the best.

In one moment of her life she decided to live in the USA for a year as an exchange student (I think I don't need to tell anyone her English is better than mine).

She returned to Brazil and took the college entrance examination for Economic Sciences. She, of course, passed the examination and studied for two years and a half but never felt it was the right thing! She gave up and took another entrance examination, this time, for the Law School. That's why she is a lawyer now! As to me, I prefer this way!

"Salute" from Fernanda, Venice/97

Fernanda is a very positive person, everything she wants she pursues until she gets it: her job which was the result of her dedication to "the books", since she "made it" through a difficult Public Contest, her studies now, her piano lessons (YES, she does play the piano very well!), her months in America, her french course in Paris, her life in Japan. She is a hard worker, a hard fighter, honest to death, and her strength gives me the motivation to keep fighting for a better future.
