When the Lovelorn Falls
By Veronica

The world crashed before the horizon. Thunder roared over head as the heavens fell to the earth and screaming angels were discarded violently against the dusty earth. Moans from deep within came from the dying and wounded. Blood scattered across the fields of dead. The earth had taken on a red coloration from the sea of blood pouring from the wounds of pure innocents. Lightning flashed in vain across the black sky as the clouds shielded the earth from the saving sun's radiant light. Cries for loved ones were lost in the jealousy of the whipping wind. Screams of vengeance became swallowed in the depths of the battle. The aroma of dried blood and burning fire was apparent in the air and bombarded the nostrils of the warriors. In the middle of the field, a light appeared on a figure. The figure was cloaked at the moment, standing in a light with eight other figures that were gazing towards the horizon with defiance written on their faces. The cold eyes glared out from behind their masks of no emotion but determination. Their outfits were worn by the battle and the wind lashed out with fury at their outfits. The wind did nothing to faze them. The figure's cloak was thrashed at by the fierce wind as it whirled around the figure's face. The figure did nothing to provoke it. The horizon was pierced by a shriek that shook the world beneath their feet. A flash of light appeared and the heavens parted as to make a grand entrance for the bringer of the end of the world. The figure appeared and stood before the elite nine. Red took over the sky and the world became a black abyss. The girls stood their ground, never flinching in the eyes of the destroyer.

The figure levitated before floating to the ground gracefully. The girls anticipated the figure with great courage raging in their hearts. The figure scrutinized them for a second with little emotion showing in the face. The woman stood before them with her head raised above theirs in a look of superiority. The woman's hair was down to her waist but it was braided intricately in a way that a mere mortal could not do without the aid of five more hands. The woman wore a black dress that cascaded down to the extent of her legs but went even farther. She wore a black cloak that revealed her face quite clearly. The top of the dress was a V-neck that flowed into long sleeves that enlarged to the bottom of her dress. Her hands appeared fragile yet they held some much power that the scouts almost gawked at them. Red lips were held in a pout that seemed to analyze the scouts and the hidden figure. Icicles for eyes peered out from the stern face. The woman was very tall and she retained an appearance of dignity within her inner being.

The woman pointed towards the still hidden figure. "I am the chaos that brings about the ills in this world and the next. I am the freedom that forms revolutions in the universe. I belong to no one but destiny itself." The woman calmly said with a voice that almost made the reality disappear with sweetness. However, the scouts tensed up and stood firmly. The figure lifted her hands to the hood of the cloak. The figure had a look of no fear on her face as her hair swirled around her. The woman that proclaimed herself earlier, had a look of surprise and it vanished the second it hit her face. The figure's cloak fell to the whim of the wind's anger. The figure stood tall and proud. The outfit on the figure consisted of a white dress with wings. Her hands were clasped together in solitude. The figure turned her head towards the woman.

"I am the protector of this world and any other that exists within me. I am the warrior that will avenge all the harm done to my kingdom. By this I swear to you by the ruler of my destiny." The figure announced with rebellion in her voice. The warriors behind her stepped up to acknowledge the challenge given. The woman looked at her with no emotion.

"Who are you to defy me?" The figure asked with question in her voice.

"I am the Queen Serena with whom you will answer to when you demolish my kingdom filled with innocents. Now you will deal with me, Queen Serena of the Moon!" Serena cried out with desire to avenge her subject's deaths which laid on this woman's hands for all time. The scouts shouted after their Queen.

"On behalf of the planet Mars, you will pay for your wrong doings with your life!"

"On behalf of the planet Mercury, you will bow to us for this deed!"

"On behalf of the planet Venus, you shall return to the dust from which you were born of!"

"On behalf of the planet Jupiter, the ill wills that you bear shall be the cause of your downfall!"

"On behalf of the planet Neptune, the battle you bring shall be cast away from this kingdom to the abyss of time!"

"On behalf of the planet Uranus, you shall learn that our kingdom is meant to live on forever!"

"On behalf of the planet Pluto, time shall be against you at all times and lock you away forever!"

"On behalf of the planet Saturn, the universe will collapse on you and may you feel internal as well as physical pain for all time in the banal abyss!"

"We shall vanquish you in the name of our planets!" Was the final cry that could be heard to the ends of the universe. The scouts drew their gazes to the woman who gaped at them with shock at their piety threats.

"You cannot even comprehend the nature of my mission. No one will get in my way!" The woman bellowed as the girls exchanged looks of regret for their lives.

The Queen was still not afraid. "I will keep my kingdom protected until the last of my will power and strength are gone!" With this she raised a hand up to the heavens as the warriors turned and faced the destroyer with the poises for battle ready.

The woman glanced around as she was outnumbered in people but never in force. The world seemed to bow to her as the rightful dominator. Serena cried out something under her breath that the scouts took as their cue. The scouts banned together as a group and held each other's hand. Serena stood high and mighty in her stance. A flash of light appeared to the side of her as it blinded even the destroyer. The destroyer shielded her eyes from this light. A figure formed where the light had once shone. The figure was dressed in a mask and a cape.

"Who are you?" The woman bellowed to the masked man. He turned to her.

"I am the protector of this world and this world alone. I have dedicated myself and my soul to allowing this world to live on in harmony without intervention. I am the King of the Earth!" The figure cried out. His voice carried over the abusive wind. His eyes flared with hatred at the woman.

"Very well. I will give you one chance, and one chance only to surrender to my power. If you do not, I will annihilate all of you and this kingdom!" The woman replied with the tone of her voice hardening to the inner core. The scouts nodded their heads in agreement.

"We will never let you eradicate this kingdom." The scouts yelled with determination and no fear in their souls.

The woman frowned. "Then, you will regret ever being born." With that the sky turned blood red with the blood shed of the murdered souls. The wind became stinging and hard against the scouts and the King and Queen stood against the howling wind with all their power. The eruption came from behind them. Tokyo fell into ruins that only the Moon Kingdom had ever seen.

Millions of cries were heard and then halted as the Queen heard them in her head. Neither of the warriors had to spin around to know what had happened. The scouts were brave and not a tear was shed for the loved ones that had been lost in that one instant. Tears made one weak in battle. A hush fell upon the scouts as the King and Queen opposed the woman. The Queen raised her hand high in the air. The woman smiled as she took this as a surrender. The smile faded into a look of horror as the scouts broke into their cries.

"Pure Planet Power!" The scouts cried out as their powers combined. A flash of light appeared out of each of their tiaras. A laser beam pierced the sky and the red clouds moved away to make room for the dangerous beam. The Queen stepped forward as the attack began.

"Your powers will not affect me. You are just mere mortals!" The woman cried out. She raised her hands in front of her and a stream of dark energy flowed from her powerful hands. The scouts felt the pain rush in but continued the power flow. The beam exterminated the red clouds and it shot down into the woman's head. The woman stopped her energy stream and cried out in pain. The bloodcurdling cry was one that made the Queen shiver with fright. The woman twisted in agony and fell to the ground.

The scouts fell to the ground in exhaustion. They had used up their powers and were no longer able to endure the pain. One by one, the scouts let out their last breath and passed on to the celestial nirvana above. The Queen watched with a heavy heart as her friends and guardians left her alone. The King stood by his love's side and observed her with sorrow rippling within.

The woman had stopped screaming and stood up shakily. "I have mistaken your powers. They are indeed strong. But it takes more than that to defeat me." The woman said with tension. The Queen had turned away from her friends for a moment to see a burst of energy move like lightning before her. Her eyes grew wide but she could not utter a sound. The flash went by her and she fell to the ground. Serena miraculously dodged the obstacle. She looked around as to make sure she was safe. Her eyes grazed the ground and her heart shattered. The sound of the shatter was echoed around the silence of the dead kingdom.

Darien laid before her in a unnatural position. His hair skimmed over one eye and his cape was torn from the hit. His face was covered with dust and grit along with his own blood. It poured from a wound that was in his upper abdomen; a critical and fatal hit. Even so near death, he was still so admirable.

Serena knelt down beside her love and cradled his head in her lap. She bent over him and whispered, "It will be okay, it will be okay" repeatedly. He opened his crystal eyes to gaze at her beauty once more. His eyes had lost their brilliance and they looked at her with a dying ember. He took her soft hand into his worn and beaten one. He kissed it with cracked lips and tried to speak. His lungs had already started to fail on him. Serena's desperation turned to clear tears. The world seemed to stand still for eternity. Darien's clothes were caked with blood.

"This is your battle and destiny." Darien whispered as the blood gurgled in his throat. Serena's tears fell onto his face like burning needles. He brushed away the tears with the back of his hand.

"You can't leave me! I need you!" Serena sobbed. Darien managed a wavering smile.

"I'm not going to leave you. Don't you ever forget that I exist beside you forever. Your destiny relies with our love." Darien said as his voice faded. Serena gave him one more kiss as she felt him go limp underneath her. His mouth filled with blood before she could say good-bye.

"NOOO!" Serena screamed into the night. She turned to the woman who had not moved since she sent the blow to Darien. The woman was taken aback by the Queen's reaction.

"You killed my friends and my love. For this, I swear you will pay!" Serena thrust her arms into the air. A blinding light overtook the field. The woman hid her body with the dark cloak. Serena stood in the empty field with the Imperium Silver Crystal in her hands.

"Your kingdom is gone. Just give up." The woman replied. Serena confronted the reply with her answer.

"Moon Cosmic Power Destroy!" The field was surpassed with the white light. The dust in the field blew away. The clouds ceased to exist. The woman was pushed back by the force of the crystal.

The woman held out her hands and the power of the essence in her body cascaded out through her fingertips. The battle was evenly matched. The Queen used every part of her love and soul to power the crystal. Her opponent did not give in.

The two beams exploded into many pieces. The detonation of the powers sent the Queen flying to the ground while the woman kept her balance. The world was quiet as the only two alive were silent. Queen Serena's dress was a pure white but her face trembled with uneasiness. She could not bear to fight any longer. The woman approached her and lent her a hand to stand up. Defeated and alone, Serena sadly gave up and let the enemy pull her up. Serena and the woman faced each other.

"You have destroyed everyone and demolished my kingdom. All that's left is to kill me." Queen Serena said in a voice that would break anyone's heart. The woman was not fazed at all.

"You led a valiant fight. Indeed you are the one I was looking for." The woman said. Serena stared at her.

"What are you talking about?" Serena asked. She didn't have the strength to argue.

"Prophecy said that one day, the Messiah was to come and lead a revolution against me. As a result, a culture would form out of the dust of the heat of the battle and rise into a civilization that would surpass all others. The Queen would bring about this after a long sleep. I was sent here to overthrow the evil in this world. My quest has finally come to an end when I found you. The Messiah was to match me in battle. You are the Messiah." The woman explained. Serena looked at her and became angry.

"You had to obliterate my kingdom so you could find out that I was the Messiah! Who are you to kill all my friends and warriors just so I could know that I was the Messiah?" Serena burst out. The anger restored her energy enough to argue with the woman.

"I am destiny's pawn. I go by the name of Shikira. I was given the position to fight against chaos and find the chosen one. The many civilizations that have lost control have fallen to the hands of my wrath." Shikira explained. Serena looked at her with disbelief.

"I was warned that some day, the world would end and I had a dream that a warrior that I could not defeat would attack. Now what do I do? If I am to start a new kingdom, where do I get the people? You destroyed them all." Serena asked, realizing that there was no point in getting angry. Shikira softened her tone.

"You will fall into a deep sleep and waken years later. By then, your subjects will be reincarnated as well as the warriors that fought with you. Even your King will return. Then you will know all." Shikira placed her hand on Serena's shoulder.

"What do I do then?" Serena asked. Shikira started to walk away.

"You will know what to do."

"What will my new kingdom be called?" Serena wanted answers now. She felt she deserved them after losing everything. Her eyes drooped slightly as sleep began to overthrow her concentration. Serena fell to the ground softly and fell into a deep sleep but not before she heard Shikira's answer.

"Your kingdom will be called Crystal Tokyo." Shikira said as the heavens enveloped her and the silence became part of Serena's eternal dreams.
