Sequel to Moonlight Dreams

Serena had finally gotten over the fact that Darien wasn't in love with her anymore. Or so it seemed to the scouts anyway. Serena had developed ways to hide her love for Darien. Dreaming of him at night satisfied her. Hopes that he would return in the near future helped as well but she was still in love. Nothing could deny her love of her Darien "fixes". Anyway, to everyone else she seemed cured. Darien on the other hand was still thinking about how his love was able to save Serena in battles but yet his love wasn't allowed to be recognizable by Serena. He just didn't understand. Therefore, he spent all his free time studying and keeping his mind occupied with other things.

"Serena!" Lita shouted down the street. Serena had been running to class. Lita waved to her to slow down. Serena stopped dead in her tracks.

"You late, too?" Serena asked breathlessly. They started running side by side to school.

"Yeah, I had to go to a late cooking class last night and I forgot to set my alarm." Lita puffed out. She started sprinting as she glanced the school. Serena struggled to keep up. The bell suddenly sounded.

"Oh no!" They both cried as they made a mad dash to the school.

The sun was high and starting its path towards the horizon. Mina was walking in the sunshine with her head staring into the sky. I could just stand here forever, Mina thought as she slowed down to a slow walk. The sun felt so good. It was vacation time again and she planned to make the most of it. Suddenly someone pushed her into the grass, spilling her books onto the sidewalk. She turned ready to kill the idiot that already spoiled her vacation.

"Who do you think yo…oh…umm." Mina turned red as the boy that knocked her down stood up and looked at her. His eyes were the lightest blue that she had ever seen. His hair was cut short but hid his eyes when he leaned forward. He wore a school uniform like hers. Yet, he didn't look familiar.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to knock you over it's just that it's vacation and all." He explained while helping her pick up her books. He looked at her and smiled.

"Let me make it up to you. Let me take you out for lunch. A late one but a lunch just the same." He said as he handed her books back to her. Mina could not help staring at him. He looks like my old boyfriend…wait a second! That's Lita's quote! Mina smiled back as she kicked herself for saying that.

"I'd love to." He smiled.

"My name's Ben. What's yours?"

"Mina." She blushed.

"Okay, Mina. Today's your lucky day."

Rei had walked home from school and found Chad singing a song. Not again, she thought. I thought I told him to stop singing. She groaned as she thought of what it sounded like but suddenly stopped walking and listened closely. She heard a beautiful voice singing lyrics that were beyond words.

The sun shines in her hair
Like the purest of gold
The moon and the stars
In beauty alone
Are no more than dirt on her feet
As she walks on the ground

She walks with her head held high
With not a single thought

Rei gasped. That's Chad! His voice was so sweet and sincere and the lyrics were so sad and forlorn. Rei could not believe this. Chad had fallen in love! All of the time that he spent at the temple, he had been so obsessed with his singing and pleasing her and her grandfather. Now he had fallen in love. She wondered who the poor girl was.

Rei started to head inside to take a cool shower to start her vacation. It was going to be a blast, she thought.

Ami had been walking home by herself, reading a book about Advanced Physics. She was really upset because all her college classes and extracurricular classes had stopped because of vacation. Ami looked forward to reading her books again to refresh her memory on physics and the anatomy of humans. She dropped her book outside the park. She looked around and realized that she had mistakenly taken a wrong turn into the park. She sat down on the bench and picked up her book.

"Hi, Ami." A voice from behind her said. Ami turned her head and saw a sight that made her forget about the cervices of the heart.

"Greg! What are you doing here?" Ami cried out happily. The last time she had seen Greg was when he helped her fight Prince Darien who was working for the Negaverse at the time. He looked so different now. His hair had grown longer but it was still a deep brown. He had grown a couple inches taller than Ami as well.

"I came here to see you. I thought we could hang out over vacation." Greg shrugged his shoulders nervously. One thing hadn't changed: he was still shy around Ami. She smiled brightly at him.

"I would love to hang out with you over vacation." Greg smiled and looked up at her. She picked up her book and started to walk away and motioned for him to follow. Greg followed her and entwined his fingers through hers so that they were holding hands.

Lita was walking home with Serena. Serena had become very close to Lita since Darien had announced that he didn't love Serena anymore. Serena was laughing at the joke that Melvin had told her in class today and was telling it to Lita. Lita glanced at Serena and smiled. Serena was dealing with Darien's denial very well, Lita thought. Serena bounced along happily slightly ahead of Lita. Serena spun around and started walking backwards.

"Lita, isn't it great! We don't have to go to school for a long time." Serena giggled and fell over backwards. Lita laughed.

"Come on Serena. Just because we don't have school is not an excuse to go and kill yourself." Lita reminded as she helped Serena off her butt.

Lita and Serena walked to Lita's apartment. Lita unlocked the door and stepped in. Serena smelled the aroma of fresh cookies. She spotted her prey and pounced on the cookies on the table. Lita just walked into the other room. She put her bag down and tossed on a pair of jean shorts and a green shirt. Serena had a change of clothes in her bag and changed into a white mini skirt and a light purple shirt. They met each other in the living room and slumped on the couch. Lita turned to Serena.

"What shall we do as our official vacation activity?" Lita asked.

They both pondered the question for a moment and then jumped up at the same time. "The arcade!" they blurted out and ran out the door
laughing.

Darien walked slowly into his apartment building. He sighed as all his studying was done. He gasped as something grabbed his leg. Looking down, he saw Reeny hugging his leg. Smiling to himself he patted her on the head.

"Hi, munchin. How was school today?" He lifted her up into his strong arms and playfully tossed her on his couch. Sitting down next to her, he prepared himself for a full account of Reeny's day.

"Well, we walked to the playground today and then we got ice cream from the teacher because it was the last day before vacation…" Darien just nodded his head as he noticed how cute she was when she talked. She looks so much like Serena, he thought. I wonder how she is?

"Where's Serena? Isn't she supposed to be watching you today?" Darien asked cutting Reeny off.

"She's with Lita. Serena's been so happy lately. But she went with Lita after school and I came here." Reeny explained bouncing off the couch abruptly and walking to the balcony. She started laughing at the birds on the railing.

Serena's been happier lately, Darien wondered to himself. Maybe she has gotten on with her life. Since I've completely cut off all contact with her she's been fine. Maybe the dreams were right.

Reeny bounced in his lap and started asking question after question about the birds and where they come from. Darien started answering them to the best of his knowledge. Reeny then looked at the time and jumped off Darien's lap.

"I've got to go, Darien. I have to meet some friends at the park." Reeny ran out the door, waving her petite hand behind her. Darien was still sitting on the couch. He got up and wondered what he could do now that studying wasn't an option. It came to him and he locked the door behind him as he left the apartment.

Mina was sitting with Ben in a small booth in the exquisite and luckily private restaurant. Ben, she found out did go to her school. He was in advanced classes but loved art much better. He drew a couple of sketches while they were waiting for their lunch of the people around them and one of her. She was in awe at the artistic ability that he had. Lunch soon came and they started to eat.

"Ben, how come I've never seen you before in our school?" Mina asked suddenly.

"Probably because I spend most of my time in private. The guys sometimes give me a hard time with my pictures, you know. I'm either drawing or studying for tests." Ben answered smiling at Mina. She blushed slightly and started staring at her food.

"Now, why haven't I seen you around. Usually I've drawn at least everyone in the school. I don't think I've ever seen you before. If I had, maybe I would have already ran into a couple times before." He winked at her and then waited for her answer.

"I'm usually hanging out with my friends immediately after school and my friends at school are always around me." Mina answered politely. She took another bite of her salad.

"Well, are you busy later tonight? I would love to take a beauty such as you out for the first night of vacation." He glanced at her with pleading eyes, praying that she would say yes. She gave him a hard time.

"Well, I'd have to cancel all my other dates tonight. They'll be so disappointed." She said slyly.

"I would be devastated if I were one of them." He answered her in a joking tone.

"Okay, it's a date. Pick me up at eight." She stood up and started walking out the door as if she were on air. Ben looked at her as if he had just won the lottery. What a beautiful girl, he said to himself. This is one of the best things that has happened to me yet, he thought as he stood up and paid the bill.

Rei tossed on a red shirt and her denim shorts. She had dried her hair and suddenly was extremely bored. Now, what can I do? She thought to herself as she sat down in the shade. Chad walked over to her and sat down quietly next to her. She didn't realize this until she stretched her arms and hit him in the head.

"Ouch!" He muttered as he put a hand to his head. Rei opened her eyes and looked over to see Chad next to her.

"Sorry, Chad! I didn't realize you were there. So sorry." She helpedhim up off the ground. Chad shook his hand out in front of her. "It's okay. No harm done." He said. He shifted from one foot to another while Rei brushed the dirt off her shorts. "Rei, if your not doing anything, would you go to the park with me? It's such a nice day and it's nice to have some company." He asked nervously. Rei looked up towards the sky.

"Sure, Chad. I have nothing better to do." Rei then seized the opportunity at hand. He wants me to come along so when he spots that girl of his it looks like he was there to enjoy the park and not her good looks, Rei thought. I've got to see this chick of his, she thought. With that in mind, she grabbed a hold of his arm and dragged him off to the park.

Ami and Greg were walking down the park path, holding hands. Ami glanced at Greg through the corner of her eye. He has changed a lot, Ami thought. He was gorgeous, she thought. Ami had tried before to hide the fact that she loved him from her friends but Lita saw through her act. Now, she could spend all of her vacation with him. She smiled at this thought.

Greg was staring at his feet. Ami was even prettier than he remembered. He reached into his pocket for the box. Yes, he thought, it's still there. I'm still shy when I'm around Ami, he said to himself. To do what he have to do, he have to be suave. I can't do this if a suddenly become super shy, he thought. Greg looked at Ami with wonder in his eyes. Her beauty just gets to me sometimes.

Serena and Lita entered the arcade breathless. Serena was ready to pass out. Lita walked in triumphantly. Serena quickly stood up as she spied Andrew. Lita was glancing around the arcade.

"Hi, Andrew!" Serena said with a sweet tone in her voice.

"Hi, Serena!" Andrew walked over and greeted Serena. Lita walked over to Serena and Andrew as well. "How's the vacation going?" Lita looked at him skeptically.

"The vacation hasn't even started yet. We are going to have a blast!" Lita cried out. Everyone looked at her because she was so loud. She wasn't the least bit embarrassed. Andrew laughed.

"Hey, Serena, are you going to stay here for awhile?" Andrew asked.

"Yeah, we were going to stay for awhile then go find some more action." Serena started toward the arcade games. Andrew shrugged [his] shoulders and walked away. Lita went and joined Serena. Andrew sat down at the booth where his sister served him his drink.

"Where were we?" Andrew asked.

"You were telling me about the party you were throwing." Darien said as he was reading the papers that had arrived today. He hadn't seen Lita and Serena come in.

"Oh yeah. Darien, you should go to the party. Bring a girl or something." Andrew told him.

Darien glanced up from his reading. "I don't think I really want to bring a girl." Darien replied icily.

"Come on, Darien. There has got to be some girl that you fancy." Andrew prodded. He knew Darien was a person that could care less about girls. Darien had been so involved with his studies lately. Andrew thought he needed someone to take his mind off his schooling.

Darien examined the papers he had been reading. Andrew brought up a good point. Darien was still thinking about Serena, especially since he didn't have anything to do lately. Darien looked up. "Okay, I'll go to the party." Darien finally gave in.

"Great! See you there at eight." Andrew replied excitedly.

Andrew got up and walked away. Darien kept looking at his papers as if they held the answers to everything. Someone sat down with him and Darien did not look up.

"Look Andrew, I'm going to your…" Darien stopped in mid sentence. A girl about his age had sat down with him. She was a blonde with green eyes. She had a slender figure and wore glasses that fit around her petite nose perfectly. Darien blushed red as he realized that she wasn't Andrew.

"Hi, I'm Denise." The girl replied softly. Darien sat still and just looked. He then opened his mouth.

"Hi, I'm Darien. How would you like to take a walk?" He said quickly. She smiled her acceptance.

Mina was walking toward the park and met up with Rei and Chad. Rei was practically dragging him off his feet. Mina was walking on air and smiling awkwardly.

"Hi, Mina. How's it going?" Rei asked suspiciously. Mina looked a little sick to Rei. Chad just waved in a greeting.

"I'm fine." Mina sighed as she said those words. "I met a guy today." She said.

"I knew it! You had that look in your eye." Rei burst out. She smiled at Mina.

Mina walked away on air as Rei pulled Chad to the bench. Rei glanced around at all the girls and then looked eagerly at Chad.

"So, what are you going to do over vacation?" Rei asked praying that Chad would start looking around for his girl.

"Umm…what?" Chad muttered as he realized that Rei had asked him a question. Chad was staring at a girl with blonde hair. She was playing ball with a couple of her friends and she stared hard at her.

Who is she? Rei wondered, squinting her eyes against the bright sun. Rei looked at her with interest. She seemed to be a real perky person. She laughed a lot as well. Rei groaned slightly as she knew who it was by the way she laughed. It was that annoying girl from her school that was a little too popular for her own good. Her name was Katarina but she preferred being called Kat. Rei did not get along with her due to the extreme difference in popularity rank. Chad just kept looking at her with bright eyes. How can he do that? Rei thought as she gave a look of disgust. I really don't feel bad for her now. I feel bad for Chad.

"Chad. Chad…CHAD!" Rei yelled into his ear. Chad jumped in surprise out of his trance that had been transfixed on Kat.

"What, Rei?" Chad said with a look of shock still plastered on his face.

"Do you like that girl?" Rei said with disgust as she pointed directly at Kat.

"Why would you say that?" Chad mumbled as he stared past Rei's accusing finger. Kat was playing still but had looked up for a second and waved to Chad. He waved back with a sigh. Rei groaned.

"Gee Chad, you're only acting goggly eyed when you see her and are burning holes into her by staring like that!" Rei exclaimed loudly as the peace of the park had been broken by the outburst. Rei got up and stomped off. Chad jumped up and started after her, begging for her forgiveness. Kat just smiled and turned back to her game.

Ami had sat down at the library. Greg had dropped her off in his car. Greg had turned into quite a sweetheart but he was older. His car was amazing. He was a really good driver. Ami actually enjoyed herself. Ami smiled secretly as she remembered how she hugged him close as she fell into him. The afternoon sun made the car glisten as she traveled with him to the library. He promised to come and get her later. Ami opened her book of psychology and turned to the page on emotions.

Greg gripped the steering wheel with a loose grip. He smiled as he remembered Ami's face light up as she saw his car. Greg had purposely showed off for her. He stopped the car in front of his motel room where he opened the door to his room. The room was perfectly neat and tidy. His laptop computer was on. A red light blinked in the corner of the screen. Greg exhaled, sounding exasperated. He walked over to the screen and punched in a couple of buttons as his code. A message appeared on the screen.

The danger is still at large.
Be careful of its power.
Only you know about it.
Don't forget the mission.

Greg sighed and fell onto the bed and even though it was the afternoon, felt really tired.

Lita and Serena finally got bored of the arcade games and fell into the booths and ordered drinks. Andrew sat down with them and their drinks.

"So, what are your plans for the vacation?" Andrew asked as he pulled out two straws for them. Serena smiled and started to suck down her drink. Lita just sat back and thought up an answer.

"We don't really have any plans. We'll just go with the flow." Lita said while taking a long sip of her drink.

"I'm throwing a party tonight and many of the people that were invited canceled. Why don't you come along and bring your boyfriends." Andrew said cheerfully. Lita glared at him and Serena's eyes went wide.

"We don't have boyfriends!" Serena and Lita yelled as they leaned on their hands and looked angrily at Andrew. Andrew glanced around sheepishly.

"Sorry. Just remember that it is being held at my friend's house with a pool. He owes me and he's rich. Bring some bathing suits so you can enjoy yourselves. Pick up some of my friends. They're sure to love you." Andrew gushed as he escaped quickly away from the looks of the two girls.

"We'll be there. Don't worry." Lita responded as she smiled, indicating that it was safe to talk again. Andrew smiled and left.

"Lita, this is great! We'll meet some really great guys!" Serena squealed. Her mind was on Darien. He was sure to be there. I'll invite Rei and Ami as well. Perhaps Mina would care to go as well. Serena began planning strategies in her head. Lita knew without asking what Serena…no, who Serena was thinking about. I just hope she knows what she's doing, Lita thought.

Darien was sitting in the park with Denise by his side. Denise was laughing at the joke that he told her. Darien smiled at her while thinking of Serena. Denise cannot substitute Serena, Darien thought to himself while a smile plastered itself to his face. Serena is happier without me and I need someone to make me forget my troubles.

"Darien, Andrew was right about you. You are very smart." Denise gushed and turned her head as a girl with dark hair pushed Denise out of the way.

"Darien! What are you doing with this…this girl?" Rei yelled at him angrily. Rei had stopped right in front of their path. Darien just had a calm look on his face even though he was freaking out on the inside. What was Rei doing here? Darien tried to second guess what Rei was doing. Denise just looked at Rei with disgust.

"Excuse me, but who are you to interrupt our walk in the park?" Denise demanded. Rei had not shifted her gaze from Darien until now. Rei looked at her with a condescending stare.

"I am his friend. That's all that you need to know." Rei said with an air of authority. Denise just looked at her with a shocked gape. Darien just stared on, thinking of what to say next.

"Rei, this is Denise. Now, what are you doing here?" Darien asked with the serene look on his face as he hid the real emotions that were in turmoil away from Rei and Denise.

"I was walking in the park when I suddenly see you walking with this girl. Is she your girlfriend?" Rei asked viciously. Darien's mouth dropped open.

"That's none of your business Rei." With that Darien started to walk away in a huff with Denise gripping onto his shirt. Rei just glared after them. Chad suddenly burst out from the path.

"Rei, I'm really sorry about before." Chad apologized while Rei stared after Darien.

"Oh…umm…you're forgiven." Rei replied as she tried to figure Darien out.

Mina was sitting at her dresser. She slowly brushed her hair while looking in the mirror. Her eyes were glazed over and she was smiling at nothing. The phone suddenly rang on the table next to her bed. The phone rang twice before Mina noticed it. She pounced on the phone like a wolf on its prey.

"Hello," Mina said calmly.

"Hi!" A perky yet familiar voice said. Lita had called.

"Oh…hi." Mina said with disappointment in her voice. She had been hoping it was Ben even though he didn't know her phone number.

"Gee, you really know how to make a person feel welcome. What's wrong?" Lita asked.

"I met a guy today and I was sort of hoping that he was calling." Mina explained with a sigh near the end.

"Whoa! I've never actually heard the great Venus sigh over a guy before. He must be hot!" Lita shrieked into the phone. Mina hardly noticed as she looked at her hand which he had held today.

"Big news for you then. Serena and I are going to Andrew's party. We were invited because too many people canceled. Why don't you and this mystery hunk come along on a date." Lita said very subtly. Mina gasped.

"That's a great idea! I'll see you there." Mina exclaimed as she dropped the phone and the receiver and jumped up and down.

Rei had finally forgiven Chad as she stomped her way home. She was telling Chad all the problems that she had faced today. He just looked at her as they sat down in front of the temple.

"I wonder what Darien is up to." Rei pondered out loud. Chad just looked at her with a blank look.

The phone rang from the inside of the temple. Chad got up to answer it.

"Rei, it's for you. It's Serena." Chad said. Rei slowly walked up to Chad and grabbed the phone away.

"What is it Serena?" Rei asked impatiently.

"I'm inviting you to Andrew's party. Me and Lita were invited and encouraged to take other people." Serena said happily as if Rei's rudeness was completely ignored.

"Really?!" Rei gasped as she was taken aback at Serena's invitation.

"Of course. Now who are you going to invite?" Serena asked.

"Umm…uh" Rei was uncertain. Her gaze drifted to where Chad stood. He was looking at his guitar and tuning it. "Chad!" Rei yelled out.

"Okay, see you later!" Serena answered and hung up.

Rei walked over to Chad. "Chad, what are you doing tonight?" Chad looked at her and hesitated.

"Nothing. Why?" Rei grabbed his arm and pulled him up off the ground.

"You're coming as my date to a party!" Rei announced as Chad revealed a smile. "But first, you are going to have to get a haircut and a nice outfit." Chad's smiled disappeared as fast as it arrived.

"But…" Chad's reply was lost as Rei dragged him down the path towards the temple.

Ami was sitting at the library when her communicator started beeping. She opened it and saw Serena's beaming face.

"Hi, Ami!" Serena said happily.

"Hello, Serena." Ami replied letting out a breath as she realized it wasn't important just Serena using the communicator as a phone. "What's up?!" Ami asked.

"I was just informed that the scouts are all going to Andrew's party and you're a scout therefore you have to go." Serena said.

"Well, okay. I've done enough studying for now." Ami said quietly.

"You might need an escort." Serena said with a frown realizing that Ami might not be able to get one.

"I already have one." Ami announced proudly. Serena gasped.

"Who is the lucky man?" Serena giggled.

"Greg." Ami said softly and blushed. Serena started to gasp.

"He's here?! Really?! That's great Ami! I'll see you there. Oh, it's a dressy party as well so remind him to where a suit or something." Serena waved. "I'm outie!"

Ami smile as Serena's head faded out. Greg would be able to take her out on a real date.

Lita was in her room and picking out a green dress that fell to her ankles. She was convinced that she would not be the only one without a date. Ami and Mina would be able to hang out with her while Rei and Serena scouted for their guys or Rei would show up with one. Instead, Lita was informed that Rei was taking Chad, Mina had a guy that she was taking and Greg was in town so Ami was taking Greg. Serena was going to find Darien as she knew he would be there. Lita was all by herself. Someone must be going stag, she thought hopefully to herself.

Lita started to style her hair but then just let it cascade down her shoulders. The green dress looked great on Lita. Serena started to scream from the other end of the apartment. Lita ran as best she could into the room where Serena was standing in front of the mirror with tears running down her pretty face.

"What's wrong?" Lita said breathlessly. Serena turned to her and automatically saw what was wrong.

"I can't let Darien see me like this!" Serena shrieked. Lita smiled as she looked at the huge stain on Serena's dress in the upper part of the dress. Serena was sobbing as Lita left the room and came back with a red dress that was really beautiful. Serena just stared. The dress was down to Serena's ankles. The dress fit like a glove. Serena squealed in delight at the dress.

"Thanks Lita!" Serena cried out gratefully. Lita smiled and nodded her head in approval. Then the duo started on their make up.

Darien had dressed up in his black jacket and white shirt. He looked pretty good. Denise was going to meet him at the party. Andrew had called earlier to make sure that he was still going. Andrew really wanted Darien to settle down with someone. Andrew just didn't understand that that is what Darien wanted as well, Darien sighed. The full moon glistened from its spot in the sky. The light filtered in the apartment filling it with an eerie glow. Darien checked himself out in the mirror and then started to wonder if Serena loved him for who he was anymore. He locked the door behind him as he left for the party.

The party was held at a great place. Everyone was wearing their bathing suits under their clothes. When the dancing portion was over the guests would be able to swim in the pool and the many hot springs in the area. The dancing room was beautiful with all the couples dancing and crowded. Rei was looking for her friends. Mina was awaiting Ben's arrival anxiously. Ami was already dancing in a light blue gown with Greg. Lita and Serena were staring at them because Greg was so sophisticated now. Lita glanced around as she realized that she was the only one without a date. Serena started off towards the punch waiting for Darien.

Denise was eyeing Rei carefully as she realized that Rei wanted Darien for herself. The whole friend thing was an act, Denise thought angrily. Rei saw Denise but went on her way. Mina saw Ben suddenly and her face lit up. Ben was wearing black jacket and a blue shirt. He walked over to Mina with a bright smile.

"Where are all your admirers? I was ready to fight them off." Ben said with a sly grin. "May I have this dance my lady?" He asked with a deep bow and kissed her hand. Mina blushed and nodded her head. The gathered to the dance floor and started to dance very close. Rei had been talking to a girl that was her age and the girl's boyfriend came over and took the girl to dance. Rei was left all by herself. Suddenly, someone grabbed Rei's hand.

"May I have this dance?" The man asked.
