Q. Why do teens start having sex? A. There are many reasons why students start having sex. Teens often say they are having sex because "everyone else is doing it" or "its fun". But there are hidden reasons why teens have sex. It may sound silly or stupid but one of the reasons is the playboy and playgirl magazine. Playboy magazines are interesting to males and females of the age range of 15-19 and teens enjoy looking at them. With the thought of the things they have scene within the magazine they expect (or at least some do) that having sex will give them the same pleasure and they will have a partner as good looking as the person in the magazine. Another reason is the media. For example I will suggest one show called Friends. The characters in the how are around 25-30 but they often have sex on the show. On the show none of the characters have ever had to deal with the problems with sex and it is rarely suggested that they use any anti-pregnancy devices. Q. What does alcohol have to do with teen pregnancy? Alcohol has a lot to do with teen pregnancy. At times teens will go to parties and drink. When they go to these parties they often do not know when to stop drinking, like some adults do. So they go over their bodies' alcohol immunity levels and become drunk. Common tendencies of getting drunk are confusion, forgetting where you are, memory loss, passing out, puking, and different feelings (such as people wanting to have sex or thinking someone is good looking and they usually wouldn't think that), it can also cause temporary amnesia. Drunken teens often do not realize what they are doing and they start having sex without really thinking about it, or using any anti-pregnancy devices. Q. What do drugs have to do with teen pregnancy? A. There are a few ways drugs have to do with teen pregnancy. As a suggestion more and more teens today are starting to get into marijuana, which makes students drowsy, lose there senses of good judgement, and give them a sense of "freedom and happiness", as quoted by an unnamed marijuana user. It also causes people to have strong feelings like lust for others that they usually wouldn't like at all. This causes them to have sex and usually they end up pregnant. There is also a drug called Rohypnol, which is known as the "date rape drug". This is used as a sleeping pill and can knock people out for 6-8 hrs. This is used at party's etc. What this does is cause the person who has been given the pill to become knocked out and often what happens is someone will take advantage of the knocked out person and have sex with them. This often ends up with the girl pregnant. Q. How many teens are into marijuana? In a recent survey in the United States only 1/5th of the grade 10 that took the test say they are using the drug (in Alabama). The truth is 1 in every 4 teens are currently using marijuana in Alabama. How can we prevent teen access to alcohol? There are very few ways that people can prevent teens from accessing alcohol. We have tried the ids but there is always someone with a really good fake id getting alcohol. If they can't get it that way there is always someone's parents that have a big stash of alcohol hat are either away from home or don't care if their teen takes the alcohol. The only way we can do this is by having a bar code on the ids. Whenever you wish to buy alcohol your id must be scanned and if the bar code doesn't work, no alcohol. As for the parents that are giving their children alcohol, people should only be able to have such an amount of alcohol in their homes. When they wish to buy more they should have to bring in their bottles and then buy new ones. How can we prevent teens from getting a hold of drugs? A. There is very little chance of keeping drugs away from teens. But all I can say is we should lower the age for the child protection act. With this done teens will have a more sever punishment so they will wish to use drugs less. We should also have a more saver punishment for the parents and rug dealers if caught with marijuana. How can we prevent teens from having sex? There are very few ways of keeping teens from having sex. The only real ways of preventing teens from having sex is to keep them in separate schools and away from each other. But this is almost impossible to do and will result in some untidy relationship choices in the future. This is also almost impossible to do for most parents wish their children to be with the same sex in schools and after school activities. The only other way is to tell teens more of the consequences from real live teens who have either children, or are expecting children, or have sexually transmitted diseases from having sex as a teen. If teens do have sex, how can we prevent them from getting pregnant? We can, I know this sounds weird, but supply condoms in schools or doctor offices. This is an old issue, which keeps coming up, but keeps being voted down by parents. This will prevent teens from getting pregnant and/or getting sexually transmitted diseases. How can we support teens when they are pregnant? We should make is illegal for parents to either neglect their teenaged children or ditch them when they become pregnant. This often happens, no matter how offal it sounds. We should also bring up minimum wage for teenaged mothers and fathers who have jobs and are trying to support their family. The final suggestion is lowering teenaged parents' rents if they are living on their own. What statistics are there in Canada about sex and pregnancy in teens? 1994 survey-in 1994 49.5 out of 1000 girls 15-19 wwere pregnant-that is up 20.1% from 1987 when the raate was 41.2 out of 100 girls were pregnant-in Canada there were approx. 48,000 prregnancies within teens ages 15-19-in 1994 more than half (50.2%) pregnanncies within teens ended in lvie births-servey in 1994 showed more and more teeens keeping their babies-25.1 girls had live births out of 100 women in 1994-22.1 girls had live births out of 100 women in 1987 How many of them are pregnant? What is the usual age for teens to start having sex? How can we prevent the stress that is forced on teens that start using drugs/alcohol? We can prevent the stress, which causes students to start using drugs and alcohol by giving them more help in schools, at home, and more opportunity to see councilors etc. We should have smaller classrooms where teens can have help if they are frustrated, and have more councilors if they need help with things in their lives. We should have fewer teens in foster homes; they should be living with their real parents. Living in foster homes can often cause teens to feel neglected not knowing their parents. We should also have more help lines for teens who are in need of help or just need to talk to something. We should also increase the programs such as big brother, which will allow teens to have an adult figure in their life that will supply them with confidence and guidance. What are the usual drugs that teens use? Teens usually use marijuana, rohipnol (the date rape drug), speed, and cocaine. What alcoholic beverages to teens use? Teens usually use such alcoholic beverages as beer, wine, and Champaign. How can we get through to teens? To get through to teens, we must first of all provide teens with a chance to meat people who have numerous effects to having sex when they were teens (e.g. children, or sexually transmitted diseases). We should also tell them all of the effects of drugs and alcohol in a situation like the ones they are in right now, with real people, not bad actors pretending to be in situations acting as if they were really being pressured, when it sounds like they have a gun to their back being forces to read lines!
