Seven years later, Goku's second son, Goten, is 7 years old, and Chibi Trunks is eight years old and both are able to turn to Super Saiya-jin. Goku is still dead, training in the heaven. Gohan is now fights crime with his girlfriend, Videl, as the Great Saiyaman and Videl is the Great Saiyaman II.
Another Tenka-ichi Budokai takes place, and we are introduced to Kaioshin, one of the four gods holding the universe together. Kaioshin has come to prevent Babidi, the next villain, from resurrecting Majin Buu. Majin Buu was the creation of Bibidi, Babidi's father, who was killed by Kaioshin, and Majin Buu was sealed away. Now, Babidi has come to Earth with Dabura, overlord of the demon world, to resurrect Majin Buu, and seek revenge. Dabura fights Kuririn and Piccolo, and turns them both to stone by spitting on them. With one day he is allowed, Goku returns to Earth to help in the fight. During the fight, Babidi sees the evil within Vegeta, and persuade him. Turning him into Majin Vegeta. Vegeta let himself be taken over, in order to acheive an increase in power, which he would then use it to fight Goku, and settle their score for so long.
Babidi is angry that he doesn't have a full control over Vegeta, but allows it to continue, since he will use the damage energy from Majin Vegeta's fight with Goku to help resurrect Majin Buu. Babidi teleports Goku and Vegeta to a far off wasteland, where they begin their fight. Gohan and Kaioshin go down inside of Babidi's spaceship, and begin their own fight against Babidi's minions.
Finally, no attempts on Gohan's and Kaioshin's part were able to stop Majin Buu from being resurrected. The damage energy from Majin Vegeta's and Gokuu's fight was more than enough. Majin Vegeta and Gokuu were both fighting in Super Saiya-jin 2. Majin Buu walks around for a bit, making odd noises. Gohan, Babidi, and Dabura all think that the resurrection was a failure, but Kaioshin knows better. Majin Buu is incredibly strong, stronger than they have ever know a being to be. Buu takes care of Gohan in no time, and easily takes out Kaioshin. He finally ends up turning Dabura into a cookie and eats him, for he was getting on Majin Buu's nerves. Because Dabura is killed, Kurirn and Piccolo and turned back to normal. The problem is, Trunks thinking it was a statue, has accidentally knocked over and broken Piccolo. Fortunately, Piccolo's head was not damaged, he is able to regenerate his body.
Watching everything, Kuririn, Goten, Chibi Trunks, and Piccolo are helpless. Suddenly, a massive explosion occurres. Vegeta shows up, after tricking Goku and knocking him out. Vegeta has come to fight and, for the first time in his life, to fight for someone other than himself. Vegeta knows he is no match until he finally thinks of a way that he might be able to defeat Majin Buu. Vegeta hugs his son for the very first time and then proceeds to knock him and Goten out, as he doesn't want them to see what he is about to do. Vegeta makes the ultimate sacrifice, his life, and with some extremely emotional final words "Sarabada... Bulma... Trunks... soshite... Kakarotto....!" he blows himself up, attempting to take Majin Buu to hell with him. Unfortunately, Buu is still able to regenerate from all the pieces, and Vegeta's death is in vain.
Kuririn and Piccolo take Goten and Chibi Trunks to Kami-sama's. Goku teaches Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks the fusion dance he has learned, and Goku rushes off to fight Majin Buu with his new ability. The power to reach Super Saiya-jin 3! Meanwhile, Piccolo teaches Fusion to Goten and Trunks, who screw it up twice before finally getting it right. Goku's time on Earth runs out, and Gotenks, the fusion of Goten and Trunks, goes to fight Majin Buu. Unfortunately, Gotenks beaten up just a bit. Apparently, he was no match for Majin Buu. Gohan is found, and teleported to the Kaioshin planet, where he trains with the Zetto Sword, which he breaks, unleashing Rou Kaioshin, who gives Gohan a power-up, "Mystical Gohan". Gohan goes to fight Majin Buu with Gotenks, but both absorbed by the demon.
There is no choice left. Rou Kaioshin gives up his life, and Goku is given the power of life again. Goku returns to Earth with a new plan, and a new secret weapon, a pair of Kaioshin earrings. When two fighters wear the earrings on opposite ears, they are drawn together or fused into an extremely powerful warrior! With no-one else around, Goku is given the choice of fusing with either Dende or Mr. Satan. When he suddenly senses a very familiar Ki. Vegeta has been allowed one day back on Earth! Goku teleports to the Ki source, and convinces Vegeta to put on the earring, while Goku puts on the other one. Vegetto is born! Vegetto wastes no time, and goes Super Saiya-jin. With no chance of winning, Majin Buu is forced to turn Vegetto into coffee candy. What Buu didn't expect was that Vegetto was just as strong as a piece of candy as he was before! Buu turns Vegetto back into normal. Vegetto thinks about his friends and family that has been absorbed, puts up a barrier, and lets Majin Buu absorb him.
Inside of Buu, Vegetto is unfused due to the magical powers of Buu's body. Gokuu and Vegeta manage to free everyone, including Fat Buu, who was absorbed by an extremely evil version of himself that he had vented out. They didn't realize that this would cause Majin Buu to transform back into his true form. Chibi Buu! Chibi Buu wastes no time and blows up the Earth. Goku is only able to save Vegeta, Mr. Satan, and Dende, and teleports to the Kaioshin planet. Vegeta isn't too happy about Goku saving Mr. Satan and not Trunks. Buu teleports himself to the Kaioshin planet, as well, and Vegeta takes him on, while Goku powers up. After Vegeta has stalled long enough, Goku takes on Chibi Buu as SSJ3, and Vegeta finally admits that Goku is the stronger of the two, and the best. Vegeta convinces Dende to have the Namek-sei-jin use their DragonBalls to wish back the Earth and all of the good people. This causes Vegeta to be brought back to life, now that he has finally admitted that Goku is the better of the two, and become a good person for now.
Gokuu begins to form a Genki-Dama, but does not have enough power to defeat Buu with it. Vegeta tries to tell everyone on Earth to help and contribute energy, but no-one recognizes his voice. Enter Mr. Satan, with Satan's help, and his recognizable voice to the humans, they are all convinced to raise their arms and contribute their energy to the Genki-Dama. While the Genki-Dama is massive in power, Gokuu is unable to put the power needed behind it. Buu begins to deflect it back. With the Namek DragonBalls, a wish is made to restore Goku's strength. Gokuu turns into Super Saiya-jin, and puts his palms forward, and blasts the Genki-Dama directly at Buu. Goku salutes Buu, and he is disinergrated into dust. Goku lowers himself to the ground, and he and Vegeta give each other a thumbs up, both with smirks on their faces.
Ten years later, Pan, Gohan and Videl's daughter, who is four years old. Goku informs everyone that a new person will be entering the Tenka-ichi Budokai. This person is Uubu, the reincarnation of Majin Buu without any evil. Goku ends up fighting Uubu. Goku insults Uubu's parents to see just how enraged he'd get. In the end, Goku flies off with Uubu to train him. The end of DragonBall Z Series.
