Klay-Zayin: General of Kutou Army

Klay-Zayin is 24 years old, and is roughly 6 feet 3 inches. He's slender, but his apparently lankiness belies his skill and strength in a battle. He has royal blue hair cut to just below his chin; occasionally he secures it back, but most of the time, he allows it to hang loose. His eyes, slate blue in color, are piercing; he has the quintessential "looking right through you" gaze.

Throughout everything Klay-Zayin (always Klay-Zayin, never just Klay) does, you get the impression that 1.)he doesn't want to be there and 2.)he thinks he's better than everyone else. Klay-Zayin is very snobby about most everything; as far as he's concerned, other people are not worthy of being in the same room as him. As for not wanting to be in certain places, Klay-Zayin hates being in large crowds of normal peasants . . . unless it's a battle in which he's _killing_ the peasants.

Klay-Zayin loves to fight; in fact, it's how he spends most of his free time, either fighting or practicing. He is adept with any weapon imaginable, and owns many, but his signature weapons are a zweihonder (German great sword) and a tabor.

Being incapable of compassion and caring, Klay-Zayin is ruthless on and off the battlefield. Even while socializing with other high ranking members of the Kutou army, Klay-Zayin remains contained, always just shy of being completely stoic. He is difficult to anger because he has such control over his emotions; when he does get mad, he doesn't explode, but gets deathly quiet. People die even more painfully than usual when Klay-Zayin is pissed off.

Klay-Zayin was born in Kutou's capital, into aristocracy. His parents and neighbors were rich and snobby, arrogantly ruling the city with a jeweled fist. Klay-Zayin was worse than the others in his arrogance; even at the most upscale parties, while his peers gathered in groups to talk or play games, Klay-Zayin would sit apart from the others, reading a book on warfare or meditating. That's not to say that he had no friends; he just chose them very carefully.

As Klay-Zayin grew up, his one love became the fighting skills taught by the master warriors. His convinced his parents to pay handsomely for the greatest teacher of them all to come to their home every day to work on his skills, until Klay-Zayin felt that he was good enough to be called a master. He trained in every weapon discipline, preferring it to the uncivil grappling employed by the common people (although he was certain to make sure he learned SOME hand to hand, just in case). With his weapons, Klay-Zayin became unbeatable. His favorites were the great sword and the tabor, both of which he practiced with religiously.

Instead of entering competitions throughout his learning, Klay-Zayin waited until he had mastered everything; he hated to even think that he might lose to a peasant. When he did enter, though, he won everything. He left opponents beaten and bloody on the gound, stretching the rules with his status as a noble, and surpassed everyone by a landslide in the non-contact throwing and shooting (crossbow, bow and arrow) areas.

He in the middle of a training session when a messanger from the palace came calling to his family's estate. The seventeen year old Klay-Zayin was to report to the Empress for a private meeting, immediately. He complied, and was soon sitting in a plush room in the palace, across a table from Thalassa. She explained to him that his reputation as a warrior was impressing her highness, and she would like him to become a part of her army. Klay-Zayin told her in no uncertain terms that he would ever serve with peasants; she agreed wholeheartedly, informing him that he would become a General, and would someday have the opportunity to be promoted to her highest General. He accepted. The promotion took only two years.

Now that he holds what amounts to the second highest position in Kutou, Klay-Zayin uses his power to crush uprisings and rebellions in the Empress's territory, and to lead attacks into neighboring countries to add more land to her majesty's holdings. He sheds no tears if innocents are accidentally slaughtered along the way, as long as he succeeds.

Thalassa's commands regarding this new "attack" confuse Klay-Zayin, and he finds himself constantly at war with himself to remain the Empress's loyal soldier. He doesn't see how looking for colored markings will help the Empire, but if his Empress tells him to search, he will. His forced companion, Kyrene, grants on his nerves, as do several of the other associates he's forced to work with.

As for Klay-Zayin's love life, well, he's a regular villain. He gets around, but sex isn't the primary thing on his mind all the time. To Klay-Zayin, work (killing people) comes first, then pleasure, although he does take some personal time occasionally.
