The Krups gaslighter works without a battery or electric connection with a piezoelectric cristal that yields on pressure the high voltage low Amp*re current generating the sparks that ignite the gas. The squeesing effect on the cristal is provoked by pushing a button. Because the force of about 4 Kg.on the button is rather to big for many persons we decided to create a pinching mechanism witha levering action. The best solution is to situate the pressure part, actuated by the stronger forefinghers farthest from the rotation point: a suggestion that by the way should be welcome in many other instruments with pinching action that have, similar to scissors where it is justified, the rotation point close to the forefinger and the opposite part where lever action should be stronghest in the area of the little finger without much force.

The double bent corresponds an observations in the kitchen: pans are often already in place before the gas is ignited, this gaslighter can be easily inserted under it
