Chrono Trigger Story page 2

A FAMILIAR PLACE: Crono felt his body traveling inside a warped space. He thought he was traveling but also felt he still hasn't moved in the place where he stood. After a few moments, Crono then had a feeling he was being "spit out" by the vortex. When he came to his senses he saw that he was in a forest which is very much like their own.; "Hmmm...just like one of the mountains in our place. It looks similar but the feeling is different..." When he stood up, he felt there was a presence surrounding him. "Okay come out now! I know you're there!" he shouted.; Imps suddenly came out from the bushes and surrounded him. Crono smiled and knew that they're here not to give him a nice welcome at all. The imps started to attack and Crono hastily drew his sword to defend himself.; Crono didn't had a hard time beating the imps for he practiced his sword skills with Gato earlier.; "I guess I owe you one there Gato", he said as he finished the last one of them.; Crono then started to climb down the mountain battling other creatures that are living in that place who doesn't like visitors very much. He was able to get out the mountain well and even learned a new sword technique. He thought it might come in handy later.; Crono came into a town which is just like their own but some things are missing here and there.; "I must be dreaming but isn't this my village? But why does the house look different and where is the Millennial Fair?", he said as he dashed around the place looking for clues to where he really is.; He went inside one of the houses and asked where the Millennial Fair is.; A lady of the house responded, "Millennial Fair for OUR Kingdom? What are you babbling about? It's the year 600 and the 21st King of Guardia reigns..."; Crono couldn't conceive what he just heard and started out to talk to some more people. He came to an inn and decided to rest first. Good thing that his money was accepted here which means he is still in the same village he lived in. He went upstairs and thought that maybe this is all a bad dream and if he slept here, he will wake up on the real world. Crono dozed off instantly not realizing he got tired from battling all the monsters at the mountain.; When he woke up Crono dashed downstairs to see if everything was still the same just like he left it.; "Yup, this is real all right! Can't do anything now but accept it!... Marle!!! I have to look for Marle!" Crono said to himself remembering why he was here in the first place.; He went outside to talk to other people in the village. Most of them are saying that "the Queen Leene was finally found!" Crono asked them what did they mean by that statement and it was explained to him that the Queen was kidnapped but was found just recently in the woods. Crono felt the people's joy when they said this and felt glad that the Queen was safe also.; He then came to a bar and went in. Everybody there seems to be telling something about the Queen's reappearance. He then started asking some people to where he really is.; He then came to a man who said, "You a foreigner too? I'm Toma the explorer. If you're buying I'll tell you a story." Crono agreed to this since he was itching to get all the information he needs about this place. Toma called the bar tender to bring him a beer and started to tell his story. "I saw some monsters come into a Cathedral at the left of Guardia Castle. I'm not sure but they really look suspicious to me. If you ask me it might be where Queen Leene is...", he was then interrupted by another guy in the bar.; "The Queen Leene is already found, haven't you heard?" the guy said.; "Oh is that so? Well then, never mind my story kid. Thanks for the free beer." Toma said as he gulped his beer to the last drop. Crono felt he was cheated but at the same time thought that there's something mysterious in Toma's story.; Crono decided to look for Marle in another place then. He felt he has looked everywhere in that village. He suddenly remembered that he still hasn't visited the Guardia Castle. Marle might be there asking some questions too. Crono then rushed to the said Castle.; Just like in his town, Guardia Castle was surrounded by Guardia forest. He crossed this forest battling mischievous imps that were living there before he got into the front castle door. There he was greeted by two soldiers who are guarding the Castle's Front Door. They stepped in front of Crono not letting him in...; "Wow! Look at that hair! You must be one of Magus's troops eh kid?" one of the soldiers said.; "No, he can't be. With that hair, he wouldn't pass to be one of Magus's soldiers." the other soldier concluded.; Crono didn't like the way the guards were treating him and was about to shout at them when suddenly a lady in a white gown came to them.; "Stop!" the queen said to the guards. The guards suddenly fell down to their knees to give her the proper respect. "Why are you teasing this individual? Please let him in. You should give him the proper respect! He is a good friend of mine." The queen ordered them to say sorry to Crono. The guards obeyed her.; "I can't believe that guy was a friend of the Queen's!!!" one of the guards whispered to the other. The other guard nodded. Crono was even more amazed than the guards to hear this. He didn't know himself that he was a friend of the Queen's. When Crono was about to say something, the Queen ordered him to go to her private quarters at the upper most level of the castle. After saying this, the Queen left Crono to where he was standing and went ahead to her room. Crono was even more astonished when he heard this and went inside the castle.; Inside, Crono saw the King sitting on his throne looking very much despaired. Crono went to him but he was greeted first by the mischievous looking Chancellor.; "Who are you and what is your business here?" the chancellor said.; "I'm here because the Queen asked me in," Crono replied.; The Chancellor just stared at him with a strange expression and turned his back on him afterwards. Crono went to talk to the King.; "I see that my Leene is familiar with you. She has not been herself lately. Ever since she got back from being kidnapped, she seems to forget some important things about herself. Maybe I'm just imagining this but I'm afraid that my Queen might be sick," the King said to Crono hoping that he could somehow express his despair to someone. Crono felt sorry for the King somehow. The King then said, "You might be able to help her in recovering her lost memory. Please help her." Crono nodded at this and bowed to King before he went on his way upstairs to the Queen's quarters.; When he arrived at the entrance of the Queen's room a guard was there to greet him.; "The Queen awaits," the guard announced then showed Crono in.; Crono went inside the room and saw the Queen standing beside her bed.; "Please leave us, I need to talk to this individual," the Queen ordered the servants instantly when she saw Crono entered the room. When the servants left, the Queen turned her back to Crono and asked him to come closer to her. Crono did so.; Suddenly the Queen was giggling and faced him. Crono was surprised at this and thought that maybe the King was right that the Queen might be sick.; "How was my acting?" the Queen said, "Crono, don't you remember me? It's me Marle!"; Crono couldn't believe what he has heard but then again he couldn't believe everything that has happened to him that day. He looked closer at the Queen and saw that it *was* Marle after all!; "Marle! What are you doing on a Queen's clothes? I didn't recognize you at all!" Crono asked her.; "I'm not sure what happened but when I got into this place, at the forest, some soldiers found me and kept saying that the Queen has been found! I told them that my name was Marle but they kept calling me Queen Leene!" Marle tried to explain to Crono everything that has happened to her in just one breath. She stopped and looked at Crono's bewildered face and suddenly changed the subject...; Marle suddenly turned her back on Crono and said in a soft tone, "You know what, when I got into this place, I was so scared and didn't know what to do. Good thing people have found me and took me in here. They keep telling me I was the Queen even though I tried telling them so many times that I wasn't. I was almost out of hope but then I remembered you Crono...; I knew somehow you would come after me...; Even though we haven't known each other that long, I felt I could trust you and you wouldn't let me down...; Being alone in this place, I've still gathered enough courage to act like a Queen just like I was told to hoping that you will find me here...; I'm glad Crono...; I'm glad I've met somebody like you..."; Crono then realized that this girl was worth coming after for even if it means risking his life. He looked down but still haven't got the courage to say this to her. Marle suddenly looked at him and smiled. Crono looked at her and only smiled also. They both knew that their companionship for only a day have already transcended into a different kind of friendship at that moment.; Suddenly, out of nowhere comes a blue flash of light.; "Uggghhh, Crono I don't feel very good, what's going on? .........AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Marle shouted for help.; Crono went to help her but then realized that Marle wasn't where she was standing a second ago. He looked everywhere in the room but couldn't find her. He realized she has somehow disappeared into thin air.; "Now what? First, Marle was sucked into a vortex then I find her wearing a Queen's clothes and now she disappeared into thin air again! I really need a break!" Crono couldn't take anymore of this and rushed outside the room where the servants are still waiting.; "What happened? I heard somebody scream?" one of the servants asked. Crono just shrugged his shoulders and went on his way downstairs to ask some people about what is really going on. He then came to the ground level of the castle.; When Crono thought that his mind couldn't handle any more of this and felt very much alone at this moment without a friend in this world, he saw suddenly a girl running towards him that made him feel that everything's gonna be all right.; "Lucca!!! How in the world did you get here?" Crono shouted while running forward to greet his friend.; " (Huff, Puff) I'm glad I found you Crono. Something weird is going on in this place and maybe you and Marle has something to do with it." Lucca said to him breathlessly.; "Yeah, you can say that! I've experienced a lot of weird things already! Here I'll tell you everything..." Crono explained to Lucca everything that has happened to him so far including finding Marle wearing a queen's clothes and her sudden disappearance into thin air.; "Hmm..just like what I expected it should be..."Lucca said thoughtfully.; "What do you mean? Please, I've really been itching for an explanation the whole day," Crono was now pleading to his friend.; "Ok, here goes...First of all, we, Crono, are here on the past,"; "The past? Yeah, people kept telling me that this is the year 600 A.D."; "Precisely, we have somehow been transported to the past when we got into that vortex Marle was sucked into."; "Okay, I got that figured already, but why did Marle disappear again?"; "You see Crono, Marle wasn't just an ordinary girl in our time. Are you ready for this?...She was actually Princess Nadia, heir to throne of Kingdom of Guardia in our time...."; "Whaaaaat?!?!"; "Yes, yes, hear me first. Somehow, when Marle or Nadia came into this place which is the past, she was somehow been mistaken as Queen Leene whom at this point in time was historically kidnapped. Princess Nadia must've looked exactly like the queen which is not surprising because the Queen Leene was an ancestor of hers...Are you getting this Crono?"; "I'm still stuck in the part Marle being Princess Nadia..."; "Will you be serious for a moment! Anyway, the people of this town have stopped searching for the "original" Queen and thought Marle was the Queen Leene instead. Because of this, the "real" Queen was never been found in our history!"; "Which means that Marle would cease to exist because her ancestor, Queen Leene, was never been found on this time!!; "Hmmm...I guess hanging out with Marle have improved your mental thinking Crono,"; "This is no time to joke around Lucca! We should think of something to help Marle... or Nadia!"; "Now you're telling me..."; Crono suddenly remembered about the guy he met in the bar, Toma. He mentioned something about the Queen Leene being inside a Cathedral located at the left side of this Castle. Crono told this to Lucca and they both decided to check it out.
