First Thoughts - Videl

At first he looked like a total geek, all dressed up like that. But I soon found out that the 'geek' was the strongest being in the universe...

The first time I saw him was on the first day of high school. I was the junior member of the police force in Satan City. I was the infamous daughter of Mr. Satan, the strongest man in the world. I was called in on various missions against bank robbers, hostage situations and the like. Recently, a 'golden-haired fighter' had entered the city and I wanted to know who he was. I even asked Shapner about it, since he was the only blond guy I knew. I decided to give up on that particular endevour, since the fighter wasn't seen again.

One day, while trying to save a bus full of hostages, a man dressed up in a black body suit, green vest and wearing the stupidest helmet I've ever seen, helped to capture the criminals and surprised me by catching the bus that I was on from falling down a cliff. He introduced himself as the Great Saiyaman, and did a silly pose. Then he said, "Goodbye Ms. Videl." He knew my name! Of course that meant that he knew me in his other identity also. I set myself to discover who he really was.

Little would I know that I would soon discover the identity of my mysterious savior. I heard of a baby terrydactyl being stolen from the circus. I found that it was the Great Saiyaman, stealing the baby! I confronted him, but he said he was taking it back to its parents before they got mad and tear apart the city. Of course, at that time I didn't believe him. I tried to fight him, but he wouldn't fight me! I thought he was afraid of my reputation, turns out that he doesn't like to fight innocent people. Then the parent terrydactyls came and tried to attack the city. One of them almost got me, but he stepped in the way and got cut in the face. He managed to stop one of them and gave the baby back to its mother. I knew that whoever came to school with a cut on the cheek would be the Great Saiyaman. But I already had a good guess onto who it was...

Later at school, I saw him with a bandaid on his cheek, on the exact place where the Great Saiyaman had been cut. I knew that he was really him. I told him that I knew his secret identity, and he totally freaked out! He actually looked cute while he was prancing all over the place, whining about how he thought his costume was perfect and his poses (which he practiced for hours, he told me) were supposed to cover his true identity. Since he didn't want anyone to know his identity, I blackmailed him into joining the next Budokai. Since his father was a previous champion of the Budokai, and my father was the current champion, I figured I would have a real match fighting him. I also told him that he had to teach me how to fly, even though my father kept saying it was an illusion.

Later I arrived at the training ground, and I met his little brother, Goten. He was so cute, but with unbelievable power for a little kid. He even blew up some rocks before my eyes. Then the training began. He taught me and Goten how to concentrate our ki so that we could fly. Goten learned first, and I was annoyed at the fact that he learned faster than me, Mr. Satan's daughter! But he was patient with me, and after a few days I was flying with him and Goten in the sky. I met his mother for lunch on the first day of training. She was... I really can't explain, but she kind of reminded me of my own mother, the way she wanted the best for her children. During one day of training, I asked him about his father Goku and why he was dead. He told me that his father died in an accident, but then Goten said that he was coming back for the Budokai. I thought he meant that the Budokai would bring back memories of Goku. Boy, was I wrong.

At the Budokai, I met his father. He had a halo over his head. Goten was right about him coming back for the Budokai. I almost fainted at that point. As we prepared for the Budokai, I looked over all the contestants. Some of them were strong, some were weak.

As I watched the first match between the little kids in their tournament, I thought about the past couple of days with him. He was a kind gentle young man with a pure heart. I decided that I liked him. Then I watched the match between Goten and Trunks. Goten turned into a golden haired fighter! So did Trunks! I realized that there were more 'golden haired fighters' than I thought. I looked over at him. Could he also be a golden haired fighter..?

It was with my fight with Supopovich that I almost died. I was too stubborn to back down, and he just kept pulverising me. Eventually Supopovich kicked me out of the ring and left the Budokai. Then someone else came towards me and I felt his warm presence near me, his soothing voice telling me that I would be okay, and with him near me, I believed it. He took me to the doctor's and told me that he would get something to heal me. I asked him to beat that guy for me, and he gave me a smile and a thumbs up. Then I succumbed to the pain and lost conciousness.

Later I woke up, and he came back with something called a senzu bean. Papa and the doctor were freaking out, not trusting this weird medicine. But I agreed to eat it, and I regained all my strength. I dressed in some new clothes and went out to watch the fight between him and Kibito. Then he took off his glasses, and turned into a golden haired warrior! I knew that it was he who entered our city a month ago. Then something terrible happened. Supopovich and another guy took all the energy from him! He lay there while the two men flew off. I was shocked at how everyone, even his own father, wouldn't help him. Then Kibito, the one he was supposed to be fighting, healed him. I saw Shin and the others fly off. I looked down to see him get up, and started to fly away with Kibito, but I demanded to go with him. He wouldn't let me, saying it was too dangerous. But I stated that I would go, whether he said no or not. So he let me come along.

We flew off into the distance, following Kibito. Kibito told us why he and Shin had come to Earth. Kibito also told us about the devestating power of Majin Buu. As we were flying, I started to lag behind. I knew that my power wouldn't let me keep up with them. He came back, telling me that I should go back. I agreed, and I asked him if he was golden-haired warrior who showed up a month ago. He said yes. Then I asked him if he was the one who truly defeated Cell seven years ago. He was shy about it, and wouldn't say anything. I figured that he didn't want to talk about it, so I wished him good luck and told him that I would be waiting at the Budokai.

As I flew back to the Budokai, I met up with Goten and Trunks. I told them about Majin Buu and they just freaked. They had crazy smiles on their faces, and then they flew off, wanting to join in the fun. I just looked on in surprise.

Hours passed and he didn't return. I didn't know what was going on. Then all of a sudden, Goku and Vegeta returned to the ring, along with Gohan and Shin. I didn't know what was going on. Then Vegeta killed some innocent spectators and Goku said to someone named Babi-di to send them to another place where there was no people so they could fight. Then they vanished. I started to worry about him, and why his father and Vegeta wanted to fight elsewhere.

More time passed, and Bulma decided to collect the dragon balls to bring the people who had been killed during the Budokai back to this dimension. I couldn't believe that those seven orange balls with the stars in them could bring back the dead. After we had all seven we went back to Capsule Corp and Bulma summoned the dragon. Shenlon was huge! I couldn't believe it! Bulma wished for the dead people to be brought back when all of a sudden Goku appeared out of nowhere. He told Shenlon thanks and the dragon disappeared. Goku then told us that we all had to go to a place called Kami's tower. We all got into a line and held onto each other, then Goku teleported us all there.

Once we got there, Goku told us all something that broke my heart. Goku had said, "Vegeta and Gohan... are dead." I felt like dying at that point. I hadn't realized that I cared about him so much... I looked over and I saw Chi Chi and Bulma crying as well. But then I felt an inkling... Maybe he wasn't dead after all...

Time passed. Babi-di had tried to get Piccolo, Trunks and Goten, and Goku had to return to the other world. While Piccolo trained Trunks and Goten in the art of fusion, the rest of us sat around, playing with Marron or playing cards. Then Buu came and stopped attacking because I was Mr. Satan's daughter. I asked Piccolo about it and he said my father had made friends with Majin Buu.

We all watched as Buu waited, then he couldn't wait any longer. He broke the hourglass he was watching and Piccolo led him into the Room of Spirit and Time. A few minutes later, Buu came out and killed us all.

I wandered around Heaven, looking for him with Chi Chi and Bulma, but we couldn't find him. I had a feeling he was still alive. I couldn't deny the connection we have, even though we've only known each other for a few months. I knew in my heart, he was still alive.

Eventually, we were all ressurected and I had to return to school. He told me about what happened, the earth being destroyed, his being killed. But we were alive again, and I knew I had to tell him my feelings. He was really shy about it, but he felt the same way I did, to my relief. He really is one of a kind. I still remember the moment when he said that he loved me. I had just told him that I cared about him, and he just looked at the floor, shy and blushing. I laughed softly, and he looked into my eyes, took my hands and whispered in my ear, "I love you Videl..." I pulled him closer and whispered back, "I love you too Gohan."

Now we have daughter named Pan, and she is very strong for her age. We always worry that she might not be able to control her power and accidently kill someone. She almost killed some of her classmates in preschool. That's a worry I thought I would never have to think about. But now, I just feel happy to be with Gohan, and my darling Pan. Nothing could be better.
