Woah! You found the hidden link! Kudos!
So why did I change the name of this site? It was first Ky's World, then it was Ky's World: ACC then it was Kayin's ACC Archive and Fan Fiction Library. Now, it's a sub-section in Kayin's @nime. And why did I change my name from Ky to Kayin?
First, my name change. My very first online name was ky0 (note the zero in place of the letter 'O'? Kewl, eh?) How do you pronounce it? I have no idea so don't ask me! This name, a bastardised version of 'Kyo', was adopted cos my favourite character from the King of Fighters series is Kyo Kusanagi. He's cool. I later dropped the ZERO at the end and settled for Ky. And with that name, I set out to create Ky's World.
My first website was uploaded onto the WWW (that's world wide web) on the night of Thursday 23rd July 1998. But the creation of the Ky's World started quite a while before that.
FACT: Ky spent 7 hours straight in front of the PC on the morning of Thursday 23rd July to put the 'finishing touches' on his site. In case you were wondering, he didn't have school on that day.
The history of Ky's World starts at the beginning of that year. I was feeling bored so I decided to host a web page. But knowing nothing about HTML, I looked to the web to teach me how create a web page. I got all the tags and everything but no matter how I tried, I just couldn't get it to look the way I wanted to. After much frustration, I finally found out that I needed to save the file with the .html extension!
FACT: Because Ky learned HTML from scratch, he is more confident typing in his own HTML tags. So that is what he does! The entire 'World' was created without any HTML editors or web page builders like Frontpage! All he uses is Microsoft Wordpad & Notepad. He did try Microsoft Front Page Express but it just made a mess of his tags so he decided to drop it.
FACT: While learning HTML and other languages like JavaScript, Ky purchased a $50 book that didn't help him much!
After learning enough HTML to get me by, I still didn't start this page until much later. My first web site was Ky's World. It was accessible thro' Ky's World: ACC for a while but has since been taken down and deleted. Ky's World was intended to be a site where I would talk about my interests, including Akazukin Chacha. Things that were to be on that site include:
1. Akazukin Chacha
2. Mega Man
3. Super Mario RPG
4. Stories (I never got round to implementing this one)
But then I decided to break the site up. I would give Akazukin Chacha her own page while Super Mario RPG and Mega Man would go together on another page for video games. This meant that I needed another 2 more web addresses. Thus, Ky's World: ACC was born.
FACT: When Ky registered for 2 more web addresses, both with Geocities, he needed another 2 e-mail addresses different from the one that he had used to register his first site! So he had to join some free e-mail providers to get 2 more e-mail addresses which he hardly uses!
FACT: For a very short while, the Chacha material on Ky's World: ACC was on Ky's World and the rings he had joined pointed to his old site.
Ky's World: ACC was uploaded and the following day, I found that the response was immense! The Guestbook had a lot of entries, including one from Civicial, and I was receiving quite a handful of e-mails about my site!
FACT: all the people who signed Ky's Guestbook and e-mailed him all wanted the same thing; more images! Ky managed to gain permission from nice webmasters out there and delivered. He was going to provide some screen shots but so far that plan is like a plane with no fuel: it never took off!
A little while after Ky's World: ACC went up, Ky's World: ACC was featured in the Mochi-Mochi Mountain mailing list, hosted by Stellaris. Contrary to what some think, I am NOT Stellaris' cousin but I do however know her cousin (who, as it turned out, has been my classmate for the last 6 years!)
And in November 1998, Ky's World:ACC was the feature site of the month of The Akazukin Chacha Club.
And what ever happend to my other website for Mega Man and Super Mario RPG? It never happened. I just got so busy that I decided to drop the idea.
How do you pronounce 'Ky'? It's really up to you! I posed this question in Ky's World: ACC and no one had the same pronounciation as I wanted. Some pronounce it as 'Kai' while others threw some japanese kanji rules into the mix. How do I pronounce it? Top secret...
There was a period in the life of Ky's World:ACC when I was learning the use of frames. As a result, I kept switching between a frames version and a non-frames version. At one point in time, I had 4 frames in one browser! My initial goal was to shorten the main page, hence the use of frames. But I switched back to non-frames due to the prolonged loading time. I don't really like frames and try to avoid them where possible.
Now, why the name change from Ky to Kayin? After surfing around a bit, I found another webmaster (webmistress actually) who used 'Ky' as an abbreviation of her name. That bugged me so I changed my name. Kayin. To those who happen to be familiar with video games, you might think that the name was inspired by Battlearena Toshinden. It wasn't. It was just a coincidence.
After a while, I began to see that my site was no longer growing in size, save for the Fan Fictions. That's when I decided on a name change; Kayin's ACC Archive and Fan Fiction Library. 'Archive' cos the information that I had about the series wasn't growing anymore, and 'Fan Fiction Library' cos that was the only section that was receiving constant input.
And now? Why another revamp? I wanted to include more stuff about @nime. I decided to shift all the ACC stuff from the old site to this new one. A major task, over a year of labour. The ACC material now has it's own section under Kayin's @nime.
Don't you feel as if you are a part of history in the making? Yeah, me neither.
Kayin
p.s. Did you find the hidden text at the bottom of the ACC main page?
p.p.s. Don't tell everyone where the hidden link is located. Let them search for a bit @_@
