Fun. That was my initial reaction. I honestly enjoyed watching this video. The dialogue was so humorous that at times I was laughing too hard to hear the next lines.  And the lip synching for the dub was almost dead on. Although, it was kind of disconcerting that the chocobos look nothing like the ones I'm used to seeing in the video game series that spawned this anime. The biggest drawback was the rather choppy and, at times, seemingly rushed story. The transitions from one scene to the next were sometimes so abrupt, that I became confused. It was usually only momentary, and I was soon drawn back into the story.  If you feel like you need a good laugh, then go ahead and check this out. However, if you are looking for an epic story of a grand scale like the Final Fantasy games, this is not the place to find it.
A four part OVA series, Final Fantasy manages to bring to life the world of the classic RPG. Based on the usual Final Fantasy plot of the four elemental crystals in danger of being captured by evil forces. The story follows Lenaly, a young girl who is on her way to protect the final crystal, the wind crystal. Meanwhile, she is followed by the annoying, yet good hearted Pretz, a young fighter. On the way to the crystal however, they learn that the air pirate, Rouge has decided to take her chances on claiming the crystal as well. Mixed with many elements which are strictly Final Fantasy, such as the use of Chocobos, this OVA is great to fans of the series of games.
I have followed the world of Final Fantasy since the very first game appeared on the Nintendo well over 12 years ago.  I was enthralled and enwrapped in each new addition to the series, each one even more deep then the other.  You might say I'm a Final Fantasy nut (so guess which Playstation game I'm dying for this fall. C'mon, guess).  I'm dissapointed to say that this anime version of Final Fantasy falls very short of my expectations, but not far enough where I couldn't watch it.  Lenaly is the daughter of one of the Guardians of the Wind Crystal, so when the evil forces from the Black Moon, the Death Guyienos, start stealing the Elemental Crystals, she must go to protect hers.  It is with the help of her pal, Pretz, and a restless spirit, Mead, along with some other unlikely characters, that they protect the Wind Crystal and stop the Death Guyienos from learning the secrets of the crystals and gaining the powers of the universe.  There are major differences looking at this OAV and the game, which most FF fans will know of, like the look of the Chocobo, the little use of magic, and the watered down story line.  Sorry, I'm used to deep, involved story lines from my Final Fantasy's.  Still, this was worth a good laugh, especially since the Wind Crystal decides to take up recidence in Lenaly's... well, bottome (haha funny, not hoho funny).
